- Earl "The Pearl" Strickland faces Shannon "The Cannon" Daulton back in 1995 at the Sands Regency Open XXII.
Strickland, 34, was already recognized as the legend that he is. He had three Sands Regency titles, to go along with his three (at the time) US Open 9-Ball Championships and two (at the time) World 9-Ball Championships.
Daulton, 23, was still coming into his own as a professional player. He would go on to win countless titles in later years, but at this time, he was still a pretty big underdog when taking on The Pearl.
Billy Incardona and Tony Annigoni provide all of the commentary.

I wish Accu-Stats would do post game interviews today after matches! They are really good!
The Massey 'ball-in-hand' issue happened at this tournament in June 1993 against Rafael Martinez. The Fusco / Massey semi-final match (not on DVD) contains it. It happened the previous day and Billy brought it up because he tried to call a foul on Fusco for shooting the cueball into the rail and catching it while he did have ball in hand. If you can find that match, it's recommended!
Daulton's break is wild bro
Bucktooth stories are the best. What a time to be alive with him around.
That break had to have been inspired by Belushi or Farley.
You are definitely the only one laughing
as soon as i saw it, i stopped and searched for this comment.
@@markhamblin8195nahhhh, it's pretty hilarious.
@@danzigmcnaniel5226 actually his break is awesome. It's not "hilarious", it's beautiful that one found his unique way to brake
@@5taycool nah, it's also pretty hilarious. Something can be extremely effective and funny at the same time.
Great match,I shoot with a Cutetec Earl Strickland cue. Earl is the best!
23:47 "cheesin it, cheesin it is the new word yeah" classic. He did cheese it.
Classic pool 🎱 game 😊
I think Billy manage to recitate half of his pool Bible in this one. I got blizters in my ears….
RIP Tony
I love 9ball back then. Not many safes compared to today. The skill level improved but slightly at the expense of entertainment value. Is it just me or are the cut break runouts more boring than they should be?
I hear you. But for me, ready to hit the road soon, any break and runout is great to watch.
The best p[layers move that cue so they're in prime position time after time...now me, too !
@scottisitoro3953 good luck on the road. Action is not as easy to find anymore. Just guys woofin at each other asking for weight. It's not how good you are, but how accurately you judge yourself and the others. That's what makes a successful road player.
@@thesafezone3833Yep. The days of big scores on the road are over for most players. Going on the road, ya might need to get some work cause nobody has any heart or gamble anymore......
Earl was and still is, I believe, playing with blue Masters chalk. Man, does he grind it out.
So am I and alot of other players, including Pros
shane too
earl at his prime time..
The cannon !!!
The winners tell jokes and the losers… RACK EM!
I dunno what it is but I love seeing Earl lose 😂
