I'm actually a teacher in China and what I've learnt is that you have to be a sales person in a way. You have to sell yourself with your intro video all the way to the way you teach in the class. I hope you eventually find something good and within your schedule... maybe research some companies that teach adults because those times might work with yours and also adults want more conversational learning instead of the whole selling yourself and putting on a show thing that you have to do for the kids. Thank you for the video and I hope things start popping up for you soon.

you are a charming young lady. lots of actors take lessons on accents. if you took a course to do an american accent would that help you? I am from NJ in the US and I like your accent but I think the world assumes the US or even Canadian accent is most neutral. I am thinking of doing this as well. I don't know yet.

    • @MphoBanda

Thank you 😊, I think taking a course wouldn't hurt at all. But I've been accepted by a few companies now so I guess it's not soley based on the accent even though people tend to consider the US or Canadian accent as neutral.

If they rejected you because of your skin color that really sucks. Although accent is an important deal. You need to have a genuine established English accent like the American accent, the British accent of the Australian accent. Anything less is not acceptable and that can be a real reason as to why people get rejected. I'm of course surprised that it was so difficult for you. I didn't even do any research. My sister told me about this job opportunity LOL. After I sent them my resume, one day later they contacted me, the second day after that I had the online interview (on Skype) and the interviewer, a woman from Bulgaria, told me I was accepted 2 minutes after the interview ended. After that there was a 3 month probation period during which I also had to complete that qualification course which I did in about 2 months if I remember correctly. This was 6 years ago and I teach online ever since. For me it was not a journey or a process. It was more like a fluke 🤣🤣 Somebody else told me about this. I'm from Romania, Eastern Europe BTW. I will say this, a genuine accent and a relaxed, fun personality with a nice smile are essential. And you have to show these during the interview too.
