So great to see you guys together again.. Orbital is a band that I would tell many people about. First became a fan when In Sides came out..one of the greatest albums made. Thanks for this video, I enjoyed the look back to the raves. Looking forward to the new!
An effortlessly cool couple of guys who are cool because they're just ordinary blokes. Obviously the effort and the extraordinary is put into the music. I wish all music producers and performers got it that way around!
Orbital changed my life. When I discovered Insides I was changed, nothing was the same again. I never heard something so sublime. I've heard sublime many times over since, and I now live in electronic nirvana, a vast open plain of all types and styles of music. It's bliss, I am in heaven.
I named my channel after them in 2008 after listening to them on loop over a full summer. Glad to see they are back at it and loved the channel 4 theme tune attempt at the end!
I love that I have the same synthesiser as my musical heroes. I've seen these guy's live about 3 ot 4 time's now, and there my favourite live shows I've attended.
Orbital ,brilliant act but their music is just as good to sit down with a set of headphones too because their music has soul. They have elements of old prog rock mixed with new wave in their sound, really spiritual.
I'm glad he didn't shy away from mentioning pills as part of the scene. The Mitsubishi or 2 (or more) of the 90s had a hand in it as well though. Great times.
I was having the exact same conversation last weekend about how the 90s have become what the 60s were in terms of cultural significance etc. and Spaced also got brought up in the same discussion! Man I miss the 90s. anyway, if there's a great cultural decade every 30 years then we're due another good one in about 3 years time :-D
Etcher I've seen these guys play so many times. The first time I was still in school. The last time I was married with three kids. Both times I was absolutely mashed. Great band.
Such a shame the clip ends there. Channel four news signed off immediately afterwards to the completed C4 news Orbital remix (they're just creating it in the clip). Ok it's still not the next "Dr Who ?" but def worth a listen :)
Regarding the sound quality here's the clip direct from the C4 News Website with much better sound. Not certain how long it'll remain there www.channel4.com/news/orbital-reunite-after-five-years-away
Good music is magic, cool video. All the years I've listened to Orbital's music and I never even knew what they looked like or sounded like, not that it really matters, just saying =P
Why don't other news channels focus on such bands and interviewing them? I don't wanna hear about some pleb's tiny charity program in some unknown city.
1. sorry for my bad english, im from germany. 2. its nice to meet another orbital fan, hello :) you are right with what you are saying - most of orbital fans dont liked "the altogether". maybe for most people, it dont has the complexity of the older albums..i dont know. i like the album , cause it has a great concept. every title is clear for it meanings. it is still full of mostly unike sounds and has great stereo effects. also, i like how the sound gets darker at the end of the album. on a good hifi there are really beautiful sounds : the melody of the bass line in "shadows", the punchy synthy kicks in "tootled" or the dynamic in "Oi!". after years, is still dont know if i like "tension" or not, but its not our decision :) :) together with the mash-up "meltdown" (i like the 11 minute blu-ray version a bit), the crazy british humor style "waving not drowning" and the lame "illuminate", it is complete enough for me :)
I love Orbital to bits and have seen them live early on many times but the dreadful album "The Altogether" left me shocked and I switched off. A load of cobbled together out-takes not worthy of a band that could create "Snivilisation" (and utter piece of genius) or the "The Middle of Nowhere." which after they should have really called it a day and left their legacy intact as innovators. They got lazy and now doing cheesy stuff which does not give you that chill down the back of your neck and go wow but good luck to them.
It wasn't their greatest, although there were some beautiful moments such as the David Gray collab. But as a piece of work I think they were being pushed by their label at the time, FFRR, to produce something almost to order - and this really does seem to come across in some of the album.
Bog Standard I’m with you but I don’t think anyone could maintain the level they hit with the Brown album and Snivilization for much longer than they did. Those albums still shine today, totally undiminished by age.
'In Sides' is a masterpiece. It just is.
no need to convince me!
Best Orbital album, no doubt
So great to see you guys together again.. Orbital is a band that I would tell many people about. First became a fan when In Sides came out..one of the greatest albums made. Thanks for this video, I enjoyed the look back to the raves. Looking forward to the new!
I was fortunate enough to meet them at their London Studio where they had just wrapped the Saint/Sinner. Really nice guys and super talented.
An effortlessly cool couple of guys who are cool because they're just ordinary blokes. Obviously the effort and the extraordinary is put into the music. I wish all music producers and performers got it that way around!
god they're still utterly brilliant.
Orbital changed my life. When I discovered Insides I was changed, nothing was the same again. I never heard something so sublime. I've heard sublime many times over since, and I now live in electronic nirvana, a vast open plain of all types and styles of music. It's bliss, I am in heaven.
If only these guys could know how much their music has done for me. I simply cannot thank them enough.

Great video, two blokes speaking honestly and passionately about the culture they helped create.
You guys were spectacular at Bluedot Festival, thanks Orbital, see you in December.
Brilliant, good guys and great band.
Orbital is classical, old skool eletronic music
Saw you guys at Glasgow and Newcastle and you got the crowd mental at both! Much love, brothers!
it would be funny to hear this lady sampled on next Orbital album lol
Orbital forever. Respect from Italy.
I'm glad he didn't shy away from mentioning pills as part of the scene. The Mitsubishi or 2 (or more) of the 90s had a hand in it as well though. Great times.
Consistently one of the greatest, the fact that they are chill doesn't hurt.
Class act , all these decades never made a fool of themselves that’s not easy!

Seeing these guys Dec 2018 in Cambs, can't wait!

I was looking forward to seeing Cathy Newman getting her groove on at the end.
So what your saying is Orbital is incredible
One of the greatest 'bands' that ever existed..

All time greats
u need a pre to listen to this :(
They really seem to hate each other.... Sad. Hug it out, bros.
So you're saying that...
Why don't other news channels focus on such bands and interviewing them? I don't wanna hear about some pleb's tiny charity program in some unknown city.
That was Fanfare for the Common Man they were working on at the end. Remix in the offing?
David Chapman I think it was the Channel 4 News theme tune... or maybe not :)
David Chapman Nope - it was "Best Endeavours" - the Channel 4 News theme
P&P dudes get R&R to spit the lyrics over Satan one time live 👍❤️
Where's the audio? Can't hear anything but mumbles.
What is that version of Belfast at 1:20?
that is what im wondering
It's the "wasted" version of Belfast.
Can anyone tell me where wasted was filmed? Wonder if the pub is still around
Очень смешная шутка(это само по себе смешно)!
too much dance music now. "the altogether" was the best album mankind ever created.
1. sorry for my bad english, im from germany.

Too young to enjoy the rave scene, old enough to be influenced by it.
People don't get it though.
copenhagen is a fucking epic song
Gallaghers?
Spirit Breath Ye, what the hell was she on about?
I think that she meant sibling rivalry
