I've been smitten by Chris's work for some time. I'm a person who is irritated by anything in a straight line or same texture. Consequently, my quilts are unique and personally designed. It took awhile to accept this part of myself because I kept fighting with other peoples ideas of what should and shouldn't be. Now, I cherish my work and am so thrilled with my pieces once they are completed. Chris is my inspiration.
It is an absolute joy to see someone so uninhibited by boundaries. His artistic quilting ideas are brilliant. The world needs more people like Kate and Chris.
I love Chris! He quilts like I do creative mending. When my quilts are torn or have thinned spots, I dig into my stash and mend them with different fabrics and embroider them in place. Old quilts should never die. Thanks you Kate for hosting Chris. The more I learn about him the more I’m amazed.
What an interesting programme, way above my experience, but nether the less inspiring. Love the colours and textures of the different materials. You are both wonders at putting it together and coming up with miracles. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I loved this episode. Chris is great, a unique artist. Kate, you are doing such a great job with lifting up people. You are a people-lifter-upper, lol. You have the wonderful talent to see potential in unusual folk, and you help them to shine their light. You must be an undercover angel, admit it, haha. Love it so much. My heart goes out to you and everybody around you. So thrilled to be part of the community here and the lime-green sofa. Huggs from Fairy Tale Cottage, Schurwald Forest, Germany. P.S. Your sticky board always reminds me of Sesame Street, lol.
Much thanks for bringing Chris to us. It so encouraging that quilters have become such an artistic movement. Chris' screen-printed fabric is very artistic. I would hope that he is appreciated in the textile industry. Kate, your bear paw squares are beautiful - wonderful pairing of colours and patterns.
I found Chris a couple of years ago and have been fascinated with his style of quilting. I'm a proud contributer to his bear paw quiit. It was great seeing two of my favorite quilters together. Thank you for having him join you on your channel.
I love the energy and happiness both of you radiate! #teambearpaw24 is one of my all time favorite projects. So happy to take part and being able to see it come full circle and connect with so many awesome people along the way. What a joy ❤ thank you
I remember when you chatted with Chris at quilt festival and really enjoyed meeting him and loved his quilts. I really enjoyed today's video and watching the both of you working on some quilt blocks. Kate, you bear paw blocks at the end turned out fabulous!! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, love that fabric of Chris'!! Hope he does another run for those of us who did not know about his Kickstarter campaign! His work is so joyful. And Kate I am green with envy over your beautiful gift from Brandon Mably. Such fun ahead!
I love the energy of someone who throws the ‘rules’ out and makes the art their heart sees. Who says you can’t mix fabric types and have to stick to cotton for quilts.
Kate & Chris, thanks for a nice chat. I don't like the bear paw but when I saw the quilt hanging behind you my immediate thought was that's my idea of what a scrap quilt should look like. I also want to make RR designs trash quilt. It's on youtube. Well worth a look. Kate there's no BS on your channel keep it that way.
The Bear Claw block was the block that got me hooked on quilting. It was an orphan block, and I was obsessed and fascinated on finding out "how" it was sewn. I learned how to wash this block with care, laid it out flat to dry and gave it a proper place in my sewing room. Since then I've made one myself....loving it.
Wht chris is doing my mum was doing 60/70 years ago. Out of necessity she made her 11 children blankets out of scraps of whatever she had. My mother was a sewing machinest during the war and a nurse. I remember her as a passionate sewer.
Baby Bear Paws inspired by Chris! Precious!!!! Lovely visit with Kate and Chris, wonderful colorful overflowing inspiration. Thank you, Blessings, Dawn Central Valley, CA USA
I remember when you first met Chris a few years ago at the quilt show - and then again the most recent quilt show. Chris is so interesting and confident in his own style. I do love all styles of quilt making, however, I also think the quilt community can benefit from a little shaking up and thinking outside the box. It's so important to learn how others interpret their visions of art. Anna, I always love your choices of music that accompany the videos. Hugs across the pond. ❤
❤😊 Hello Kate and Chris, Enjoying, what a great bit, videos, hope great fun with New boxes filled bits!! Ur Both Inspiring and a creating Joy's, Enjoying Ur Beautiful Life's, Can't Wait for Lime Green Sofa time, Thank's ❤😊
Chris is so sweet! I've never heard a man say "thank you" so much! ❤ Oh and i LOVE his quilting style. Totally inspires me to break out of the traditional quilting mold more. :)
I'm one of those quilters who mostly follows patterns and I don't go off on my own too often but this inspired me. Kate, I love your bear paw blocks and while I have made one in the past, I used all the same fabrics throughout. This gave me the idea of seeing how I could incorporate pcs in my stash to make a nice scrappy one. I always learn something new and always look forward to your videos. Thanks, Kate!
I was so intrigued when I saw his work when you interviewed him at the Festival of Quilts.....thank you for this delightful video, Kate. Chris made me rethink the buying of new fabric when you have fabric all around that you could incorporate into quilt designs without breaking the bank.
Wow! What a nice surprise to see Chris. His artwork is so unique and inspiring. The first time I saw him was with you at a quilt show and I was blown away ! Lovely time with you today, thank you.
Im so excited that Chris came to visit with you and in turn with us!! I know this was a long time ago but it feels like it was just today!! I love all of your videos Kate and I'm so happy i found you and get to visit all these other wonderful people with you!! Thank you for the love and kindness you spread all over the world!! 😅
What an extremely and talented man Chris is with his organically created fabrics. I have shared this video with my son who is a screen printer teacher . With a bit of encouragement he might help his mum (me) a crafter and quilter, to create some fabric. Fingers crossed.
Loved seeing Chris again. I learn so much from his free-wheeling style which is my preferance for my own work. He also was the guest instructor in May for the Quiltfolk BOM workshop. A very unique and intriguing quilter!
So wonderful to see a unique fabric designer with you Kate. I love his ideas and his "give a dam', attitude. Much like myself. Probably, my English/Scottish heritage LOL. Living in USA now, but not forgotten. ♥
Oh this was such a great video and visit with Chris English! His work is so interesting; he definitely does what makes him happy with his projects. After watching this video and now following him on Instagram, I’m planning more free-for-all quilting projects. Thank you so much for another fabulous video. ❤
Ohh I was so excited to see you both together today. I've watched you both at the quilt exhibit in Houston. I'm glad you both have stayed friends. It's a small world.💜
I am in love with men's shirting. The patterns just announce themselves! E have GOOD WILL stores, a great source fot shirts, yardage, xl sheet sets fir backings, even tartans for quilts if luck is present. Chris is a free thinker & the quilt world needs folks like him, along with Arn & his partner, & of course the last Homely HOUSE. Thank to each one.
My introduction to Chris was through you Kate, the first time you met him. He helped me understand that it's okay to think outside the box, even when quilting. And I'm very interested in using different weights and types of material. I don't think I will be as radical as he is😁, but I know I will enjoy exploring this path. Thank you and Chris for the video. I hope you, Eileen, cat Rita and the rest of the family are all well, from Esperance, Western Australia💚
Wonderful to see Chris at the last Homely House. I’m inspired to join Instagram. He is a blast of creative energy. So intuitive and fearless in his approach. Love both bear paw projects.
I love that community Bear Paw quilt. I also love working with orphan blocks and figuring out ways to put disparate blocks together into one cohesive quilt design. This was a fun interview; I'd have been happy for it to have been longer. 😊
I like to make quilts just like Chris does. just pop stitching the fabrics and small bits. seeing every which way. cutting and sewing again. I don't see his link to TH-cam. all i get is the English breakfast. lol
Super cool! My favorite quilts are extremely scrappy. I am learning how to mix colors and patterns that I don't like or would never put together. Jen Kingwell has been an inspiration as well. Always a fun time with you Kate!❤
I saw the first time when you met him at the show. And you were blown away with his quilt style. I loved how he just takes any scrap fabric and makes something cool with it.
What a brilliantly delightful video!! Thank you for the introduction to Chris. I love his colorful and “color outside the lines aesthetic and approach to quilting. So! Much! Fun! 😊
I enjoyed the rhythm of your conversation with Chris English. His energy and love for his artistry and craft is contagious. His freedom within his color palettes is fabulous. Also, I always find your color palette to be inspirational.
Thank you for your video with Chris, a very nice man who shares his knowledge freely. I like his work as it’s different and unique as if like myself you are not an expert quilter or sewist, I am self taught so if I choose to quilt I’m learning as I go. I also like what I like 😊.
I've been smitten by Chris's work for some time. I'm a person who is irritated by anything in a straight line or same texture. Consequently, my quilts are unique and personally designed. That is just wonderful that you have found what makes you happy and creative.
Well done following your own path in creating your own designs with your quilting
Smitten by Chris's work is a wonderful way to describe his amazing energy!
It’s so lovely to see creativity so generously shared in such an open and encouraging manner. Thank you Chris and Kate
This was the funnest video … a couple of quilt nerds having a grand old time and taking us with. What an extraordinary episode. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

That's awesome - you must feel so proud to see your block!
Congrats, I was able to spot mine, too. Hooray #teambearpaw24
It is an absolute joy to see someone so uninhibited by boundaries. His artistic quilting ideas are brilliant. The world needs more people like Kate and Chris.
I love chris. His attitude is that of an artist, daring, exciting, dynamic. He's a fiber artist, not a quilter.
Wow! How refreshingly different!
A fabric artist AND a quilter!!
