As a kid, one of these was my first laptop! I got it for free because it wouldn't turn on. Turns out there was a bug in an early BIOS where the temperature sensor would slowly drift and make the laptop think it was constantly too hot to turn on. After updating its BIOS while the motherboard was sitting in my freezer, it worked great!
You've heard of cooking electronics, now get ready for freezing them
the feeling of fixing some broken electronics you got for free as a kid was great
@@mobilemarshallyeah I definitely don't do that at 40, I got so much going on whew.
That's the sliest fix I've ever heard of for an electronic device.
As a kid, quite a nerdy kid I see lol
i love nothing more than watching Posy videos on obscure tech products i never knew existed and never cared for in my entire live before the video
guy, when were you born? 2015?
@@retrospacenet i had a Hp notebook in the late 2000s why would i know about this peticular toshiba one?
Not just obscure, thoroughly unremarkable.
Fr this piece of shit laptop sucks ass lmao

1:01 thank you for scratching the ridges for us
that sound is perfect
always satisfying🤌🤌🤌

ya
Only Posy could make a cheap 2009 Netbook look absolutely stunning.
It's amazing what it does to video quality when the creator knows even iota about photography, and Posy knows a LOT!
6:07 he rotated the whole building just to get that shot
well in a sense, that's exactly what happened.
Yeah your right @@kingdom5500
I thought he moved the sun for that shot.
@@Maximum_777he build a dyson sphere to make sun strips
no he didn't.
Thats the most beautiful someone has made a netbook look
counterpoint: the 2012 MacBook Pro is the most beautiful laptop ever made, it looks better even without Posy level videography :D
@ it’s not a netbook though
@@Jochen666 i still daily mine because i said "i'll get a new one when it dies" 4 years ago and it just has not lol

Posy is the god-emperor of niche electronics
I wich he never becomes a giant humanoid worm or starts a galaxy-wide Jihad
nah that has to be jvscholz
techmoan would get my vote
Technology Connections and Bringus Studios have joined the battle.
Posy could make any ordinary product feel like a marvelous masterpiece
Nice to see this! I worked for the Toshiba computing division until shortly before the launch of this. At the time, we made really solid computers and I was really proud of what we did. The NB 200 was one of the few solid notebooks amidst a whole load of really creaky, poorly designed ones.
Back in 2008 there was one silver Toshiba that fell on a hard floor from about a meter or higher. It was like nothing happened. If I remember correctly, an employee in a computer shop had an accident with it, pulling some cables or papers or what have you. I was there on a practicing period from school. I think the machine had a bad hard drive and it had just been replaced when it fell.
I'm always amazed at how someone can be so goofy and graceful at the same time.
5:25 my goodness, blending the audio between netbook and the video…perfection! 😍
Yeah, that bass drop was spine tingling, and perfectly timed.
Honestly, using the output of the toshiba as a high pass filter is genius.
One of the coolest things about Posy's content is that you can feel his passion for the content he films. This netbook is kind of insignificant in the entire history of Toshiba laptops, but you can tell he cherishes it. I know I personally have a handful of electronic devices where I can stare at parting lines and obsess over fit and finish. But its not something that I feel like I can ever convey. Posy takes that same wonder and he knows how to put it in a video with a custom soundtrack. Theres nothing like it
I like this, just a design overview, no technical testing, no running Linux, nothing fancy. I've seen how netbooks run, how they all look is now far more interesting to me.
And design was especially important for netbooks since the all run about the same hardware/software combo so they all performed about the same, so design was the only thing setting them apart and pulling in the customer's attention.
I remember when my dad got a netbook, it seemed like magic that you could have “a whole computer” in such a small device.
Liking XP’s default theme comes down to how much you like the color blue, which I did. It was the first Windows OS I used extensively, so I certainly have some nostalgia for it.
I always appreciate the audio quality and original music in these videos.
1:00 Nice touch, staying true to the NB200 ridges by illuminating the scene with blinds.
These videos have a posytive impact on my life.
3:28 I used to sell these at a retailer, the cellular options were often sold directly by AT&T/Verizon in the states, they would also sell it at a lower upfront price because they locked you in a contract.
XP is Ugly-beautiful!!!
Prepare to feel old; it was the OS of my childhood.
Yeah, it was far from perfect but I have nothing but nostalic love for XP now.
Grew up on the last version of win 10. 💀
I'm not nostalgic for it, so I have a unbiased opinion on Windows XP as Windows 7 was my first operating system. I think Windows XP is kinda ugly (at least the Luna theme) Pretty much every other offical windows XP theme looks a mile better than Luna. I'd love to hear what other people think
@@lemonsmc_48 For me classic Luna and olive one are okay themes. They don't look nearly as elegant as Aero from Vista or 7 but I see it as a good mix of colors with smooth lighting which looks kinda friendly; I exclude silver one from it tho, it's hideous. Royale from Windows XP managed to be mix of those two approaches but kinda compromised that "friendliness".
PS. I have memories of Windows XP but I was too young back then to do things I did mainly on 7 (I was also using service packed vista in-between 'cause of my parents' laptop) when I had my computer
@@nerfgodbigguy1405 Last version of Win10? As in 22H2 from late 2022?
What a cozy video! I like how the lighting through the blinds matches the stripey aesthetics of the netbook.
The cinematography is truly incredible, I am astonished as to how you get such good shots, that one of the power button and LEDs looked GREAT.
with my new studio monitors I have been able to experience your videos in a brand new way and let me tell you, your sound engineer experience shows.
everything about these videos is always so CLEAN
Takes my back to my time at technical university. I had a EeePC, one of other popular brand of netbook at the time. With linux installed on it, it was a very good machine for simple web browsing, note taking and programming, while being very light and simple to carry and having enough battery for a whole day of classes.
I had a similar netbook around this time. It couldn't do much with its limited specs but damn did I love the thing, it taught me to be ressourceful with the limited power it had so I could get it to do what I wanted it to.
"dang, that thumbnails sure looks familiar" of course it does, that was my government mandated school laptop lol.
Catalan government thought it'd be a good idea to try to replace textbooks with digital books, and give each hugh school student a laptop (gvt paid half price, families had to pay the other 150€). Besides every negative aspect you can think of when you hear "replace school textbooks with digital ones", the program completely failed and was taken down just three years later.
I still have mine somewhere, though tbe battery is busted and lost the charger.
Funny how the same happened in Portugal. We only used them to play videogames. At least back then families only paid 50€
interesting
I had this exact netbook, I used it in lectures while I was at University. Thanks for the memory unlock Posy!
Loving this!
I feel like this is a lot like how I see the world. To see someone else notice the small things is reassuring and calming to me
Thank you so much for being able to not only identify, but point out in blatant fashion what is probably the most unequivocally "right" way of doing things for UX. It's a special thing, to be led down a weird rabbit hole and told "this right here.... this is what it means to be perfect". Thank you.
As an industrial designer, all I can say - this is a great netbook. Love it
My first laptop in 2008 was the ASUS Eee PC 700 series netbook. I think it was the first one of this trend! Later versions got Windows XP but mine had linux distro called Xandros. It had a comically small screen and touch pad but it was a great little machine for my first few years of university. This Toshiba is a much prettier offering. I find Toshiba laptops of this time period had a really nice minimalist design. Definitely miss their presence on the consumer market. I sold laptops to both consumer and commercial markets for about a decade and so many people loved the simple design language of Toshiba laptops. Timeless!
This video was shot so beautifully. Absolute terrific job!
Love. The macro lenses. So much deeper detail especially in 4k zoomed in 8x. Some light brown horizontal wear on that track pad and a loose thread around the power led
I'm very, VERY familiar with the Dell Latitude L2110 and L2120, and that thing was an absolute dream from a repairability standpoint. Everyone hated it because it was extremely small and low powered, but I loved it because not only did Dell offer a VERY generous accidental damage cover (one person literally used their laptop as a frisbee and Dell covered it), but replacing things was dead simple. The keyboard could be replaced by unclipping the battery and removing two screws, and the LCD screen could be replaced by unclipping the bezel, undoing two screws, unclipping the ribbon cable, and then installing the new screen in reverse order.
People may have hated netbooks, but from a purely repair standpoint, it was brilliant.
this is the first video i watched from posy
and the editing is peak
Oh you're in for a treat with the rest!
My first laptop aswell. I love that people appreciate how great these were.
First this guy's cinematography made me genuinely want an outdated stereo system from the 1970's, in 2023.
Now he's making me genuinely want a cheap netbook from 2009, in 2024!
I would love to see this guy do reviews on old iPhones, iPods, or iPads, I am positive his work could SURPASS whatever Apple did with them back in their day.
I think now is the time to get a netbook. Not long from now, they're probably gonna be collectible.
and again you released another amazing video! Thank you for giving the best 6 minutes and 49 seconds of my day!
This was my first computer. The government gave these out once when I was in junior high school, so many memories...
My school had these netbooks - about 200 of them for literature classes. Obviously they weren't treated very well, but they did the job.
I had an Acer netbook when I was 15. It ran the gimped version of Windows 7, I couldn't even change the desktop background or use the Aero glass mode. I loved that thing, it got so much use over the years.
Your music is so minty. I feel refreshed when I listen to it.
A new posy video blessing my inbox? Time to get the popcorn and enjoy :)

Posy is really therapeutic with his beautiful videos 😊❤
honestly, feel like low end laptops look more interesting than midrange laptops. having little designs and stuff like idk.
i have a laptop currently with a full size internal sd card slot, and use it as permanent additional storage. its pretty nice for that
thank you again for the brain fuzzies
Damn this takes me back lol. I remember when i was a child and my aunt got the exact same one. The whole thing felt out of this world since we had the usual desktop setup (a black uninteresting looking black box and a crt) in the family house. I always loved how it looks and feels. Also i thought that battery looked like a handle (although a poor one lol) while using it. Thanks for the nostalgia!
The whole thing is unbelievable
The chanel's as impeccable as it's videos
HOW??
I had a netbook, and I think it was a variant of that design. Mine was all black, but it didn't have the extra cylinder in the back. I have fond memories of it.
This feels like watching a documentary of those in TV but just made everything by one person.
I just love the way you make your videos, and how you seem to perceive life.
I recently bought a pink Vaio netbook from the same year to use in uni and was shocked by the build quality! it’s all plastic but it feels great in the hands because of all the different textures and also have really good LEDs indicators
I love hearing your songs that I recognize in your videos!!! Man I love everything about these.
0:33 Relatable! My first laptop was an Acer Aspire One AOD255.
Posy can make anything look interesting...
I had a Toshiba from that time period - a reversible tablet, i.e. you could use it as a laptop with the keyboard, or rotate the screen all the way around which disabled the keyboard and you could use the touchscreen as a tablet. I loved that machine so much. It was a GOOD touchscreen. As good, I think, as modern smartphones on the touch side of it. These days, I have a nice Chromebook that serves about as well, although it is ChromeOS - but I can run Android apps and full-blown linux (I made sure of both) and it has a touch screen. It's a nice little box that really serves me as well as that old Toshiba did, but much cheaper. heh. But I still miss that old thing. This video was definitely nostalgic, even though what I had was slightly different.
Thank you for this video posy. I love designs like this. For example, I have an ibook g3 snow that the first owner installed a custom blue translucent shell. I look at it for hours without getting tired of how pretty it is, like this netbook.
those shots are so clean and smooth that it had me questioning if it was all recreated in 3D software
That Maxtor external drive takes me back!
My dad had one, and clearly remember using it to store tons of movies and music
My first laptop (which wasn't purchased with me in mind) was a larger and heavier Toshiba that ran Vista, but it shared some of this one's pros and cons. The design concessions made more sense for a tiny, easy to carry laptop than they did for my bulky, power-hungry one.
I did learn to appreciate its qualities when I moved on to a Lenovo Thinkpad that cost three times as much yet broke after just a couple year due to poor build quality.
Thanks for another masterpiece of video Posy, you're an amazing creator
You could release a 30 minute breakdown of your favorite childhood toaster, or the microwave you used in your formative years at college, and I'd be excited to watch it to the end ❤
The product maybe not that neat, but the camera shooting skills are on a whole new level of mastery.
I had the model with cellular (although running Linux)! Many years ago when I was running a startup, I needed the ability to SSH into machines and triage issues when I was out, this little guy was the perfect machine for that.
I miss the netbook era, they were fantastic little machines for devs who needed to get shit done remotely.
Also handy for working in unpleasant or hard to access places (networking gear up in roof spaces etc) - I had an HP 2133 for the same reason. It came with a version of SuSE but I replaced it with some other distro - possibly Ubuntu which was actually pretty decent back then. Horrifically slow Via C7 CPU though, it was glacial compared to Atom based machines...
I love how your footage and photography of this machine outshines Toshiba's.
"i nver lear to blind type" was a nice touch. I wrote that without looking at the keyboard.
So happy this was recommended; it makes brain feel good and reminds me of the intro shots to How It’s Made.
I love watching your videos about random tech and phenomenon (Hot Water iridescence).
They are soo beautiful and pleasing to watch.
The best part of this netbook's design is that it has dedicated PgUp/PgDn keys. These days even 14 inch laptops don't have them. WTF.
100% agree with you on how hideous XP is, I can't believe how many people like that POS UI
I love Netbooks - the Asus EEE is still a favourite for what it delivered at the time before being made obsolete by tablets etc of course. I'm no tech snob but going back to TN screens is always a hard sell, though there is a fair bit of difference between bad and good ones to be fair. Glad you still have yours and looks like you took a lot of care with it 👍👍
I love the strange yet calming music!
Most built-in wireless WAN laptop offerings were kept to the USA, often tied to some specific provider (usually AT&T). This was even true with the PSP Vita, only the US had models that connected to their cell phone networks. (As a Canadian who ran into many devices like this over the years.) So your netbook was probably originally produced for their market.
How are netbooks better designed and more better in terms of build quality than modern laptops!?!??!?!?
Great video btw, loves the segmented display video!
I HAD THE SAME NETBOOK! I recognized it from the edge display in the thumbnail :D It was one of the early ones with Win 7.
It wasn't my first laptop, but it was my first "netbook." It was incredible how lightweight it was despite being so capable and inexpensive.
I used to have a vaio net book that looks and feels great, but I guess anything in Posy's hand can be turn into an amazing video
you are on a streak!
I love Your stuff, and especially the yove for old tech,
Thank you so much for your videos!
I have one of these! Got it for school work in 2010. Haven’t powered it up in like 8 years.
I just found a later revision of of this laptop in a bin of my wifes stuff. Ive been obsessed with the Intel Atom for a few years now and couldnt have been happier. It still worked and i order a new battery for it only for it to die entirely before the battery arrived.
My father had one of these when I was a kid! I used to play flash games on it and fidget with the detachable battery.
I had an NB200 back then. Loved it. It was a bit slow, but can run 8-9 hours from battery. Nice looking and very well built computer.
these mid 2000 toshiba laptops had strangly nice designs, i remember my family had a satellite a200 thing and there was a nice logo below the trackpad on a black status strip that would glow blue
The good thing about these Toshibas is that they are very durable and their small size makes them super competent for use with car diagnostic equipment. I have several for diagnosis, with SSD they are quite fast, and since they are laptops that have no value, you can buy them for less than $20 and the battery lasts more than 4 hours.
I had this when i first started university in 2009. I loved it and thought it was so cool (well the windows 7 version) but I loved the led panel
Posy, your vids make my week.
that hinge is absolutely divine
I like and kinda miss the days of those vehicle-like blinking lights on laptops.
Small laptops and PDAs were a fascination for me as a kid, could never afford one though. Now I am tempted to pick one of these older ones up, kinda forgot about them once I got a 14 inch laptop for carrying around.
Honestly, Apple won the revamped visual design of the early 2000s design wars. It made sense to do it too, since Mac OS X was practically an entirely new generation, throwing out the bloated and unstable original Mac OS codebase that was in use since 1984, replacing it with NeXT's codebase.
XP's bundled three designs are not very good, but there were a few downloadable window styles back in the day. One was just an even glossier version of the default look (the Media Center style theme), and the other uses a black and orange scheme (the Zune style theme). The latter is my favorite window style out of all of them.
Kudos to you for using the Windows 98/2000 style on XP; proper way to use XP on a netbook.
My first ever laptop was toshiba. It lasted 15 years of heavy use and still works. Man they made such a good laptops. It's a shame that they don't make these anymore.
That exact same model was part of a programme run by various regional governments of Spain to "digitalise schools". I received one of these, with a bright green case, from the Andalusian govt in 2009 as part of that programme. My very first own computer, the "Ordenador de la Junta" still brings back memories 😊
Posy can always convince me to find new e-waste to buy.
5:26 using blinds to make the light resembling the diagonal ridges on the top of the device is art.
i bet you could make an entertaining video even about rubbish bin.
I had a nb205 when it was new. The battery life and the keyboard were the biggest selling points back then, nothing else in that price range offered all that.
Oh man we had hundreds of these at the school where I worked. I did always thought these looked really good for what they are.
Looks futuristic.
damn, posy makes perfect of the lighting and camera angles that makes even a toaster to look amazing
Хороший ты парень, Пози. Очень стильные и эстетичные видео с красивым музыкальным оформлением. Такой контент довольно тяжело найти, отлично что ты этим занимаешься
Babe wake up - new Posy!
I'm a simple man. I see a Posy video, I click.
"please do not re-upload my videos anywhere" is banking on a level of respect the internet cannot even dream of possessing.
Omg the shot at @2:50! Just amazing.
i find my self notified about this video, i dont even remember subscribing ..... but this video i love😍
Omg someone had to say it! Windows XP was a visual nightmare and it was lackluster performance wise too. I have no idea why some people still love it lmao
I think it looks much better than Windows 10 (not that that’s difficult), but you're right about the performance. It ran horribly on the hardware we had back then, but then again, so does Windows 10.
Windows XP on a netbook was about 10x better than Windows 7 Starter Edition which they ended up shipping on most netbooks. That was a joke of an OS, you couldn't even change the wallpaper
@startedtech power issue. XP was designed for old systems with little resources. It doesn't scale well though.
TH-cam censored my comment in which I stated that I liked Windows XP’s looks over Windows 10’s but agreed with the performance-related point.
They are in desperate need of competition at this point.
@@ThePC007 dude yes! TH-cam has been censoring a lot of my comments too. What the hell is going on
