- I go about fixing my old ASRock 970 Extreme3 motherboard. I think that it is dead, but I have some ways to try and fix it. I try replacing the battery, and that seems to have worked.

It might have been something else. Your pc would still boot without the CMOS battery because all. CMOS does is control date and time.

I have a pc that suddendly turned off and now when I try to start it the fans spin for a couple of seconds and then it stops. Everyone says it's the motherboard. I've tested all the other parts and everything is ok but the mobo. I'm gonna try changing the cmos battery since I have gotten errors about cmos in the pass. Wish me luck.

So on your second try u got display on screen. Bruh i tried everything you can think of but i still don't get any display help!. I don't know if its the cpu/motherboard that is causing this. Simply everything spins but not fast tho and i get no signal on monitor
If you are sure that your CPU and GPU are OK,, this is the question,,,but if you really can be sure,, It has to be the motherboard.

When you turn the pc on just spam delete on the keyboard until it comes up

Hello: I don't know if you can help me. I have an Intel DZ68BC that stopped working overnight. When checking it I opted to change my Corsair HX850 power supply because the fan would spin for 2 seconds and stop. I bought another new Corsair RM750 and the problem remained the same. I also noticed that the skull does not turn on the lights and the number on it indicates is 58. The monitor and the two cdrooms stopped working. It is also impossible to access the Bios because the computer turns on for 2 seconds and turns itself off. I cleaned the processor (i7 -2600K-LGA 1155) and changed the paste, I cleaned the memories (4x4GB) and the fans and everything remains the same.
Can you help me with the solution or tell me what I can do or check, or is it that the motherboard has already died and I must replace it, if so, do you know any other similar that you can recommend? Your help will be very appreciated.

Have you taken the motherboard out and tried to run it outside of the case? There could be a short somewhere and it's just turning itself off to prevent damage. Taking it out of the case would eliminate the possibility of they case to motherboard short.

you seen fairly knowledgeable about computers I have a major problem and I have tried my best to fix it but ever since I built my PC over Christmas when I turn my PC on it loads up then freezes so I have to restart it manually and then it works but when I restart it it changes the date and time randomly do you have Any help? I don't know what to do. I have updated everything like drivers and that sort of stuff and I have even tried turning the brightness down on my monitor as I read something about it online but still no luck
its hard to tell, I'd really need to see it myself. I've never seen that problem. have you tried flashing the BIOS?

hey mate so i just want your opinion on this matter , i have my pc 2 years now and i always used to power it on 2 times before it could actually boot up . So i had some problems too sometimes it couldnt even post or beep but i would try some "remedies" like taking off Ram ,battery etc . But now some days ago i played a game and it crashed and now it wont beep or post again i tried taking the battery off but nothing . Also usb ports dont work as well as my Gpu fans will spin for a brief moment but they wont go all the way . Sorry for the long message i need your help buddy . ty a lot
It may be time for a new motherboard, (It happens they all die at sometime). If it was me, I would save some money and up, and maybe get a new PSU as well.
Emerald Isle PC's yeah i thought so too :/ i thought it was a combo of the two ..i also dont think i have a good psu for my specs , i got a Cm gm 550 psu which is a tier 3 if im not mistaken and it needs to run a 6350 amd cpu and a sapphire r9 270dx gpu ..i think im gonna go with delta or seasonic . so did you buy a new mobo (which one) and or seasonic power supply, thinking back to your 1 year ago comment? then again a 6350 & r9270dx gpu are older than god. That you could game with such antiquated equipment is surprising.
i bought yesterday an rx 480 and put it into my msi gaming 970 mainboard, monitor says no signal and then I see the mobo dont recognize my ethernet cable, usb etc. but fans of the cpu radiator are rotaiting.
the fans of the new gpu rotating too but after 5or 7 sec they stop and start again to spin and the red led lights of the mobo are shining. will this solution in your video help my mobo?

Try reseating the RAM (move the module(s) to (a) different slot(s)).

Impressed. wondering how much to fix a Dell XPS 630i PWA-DRUID PREMIUM/MOTHERBOARD A00. I used a multimeter to check power supply voltage checks on every wire. it doesn't POST.

originally it's not my computer. it's someone who from day one when he bought it had problems with it and the back and forth with Dell made time run out on the warranty. I thought I could fix it but no cigar. may put a different motherboard. I am fixing this computer at no charge for the guy who I consider more than an acquaintance. plus it's a challenge. anyway all the research I've done on this computer has it's pros and cons. I am really trying to understand your question in many forms of expressions. the one I came up with was, how do I describe: rubbing hands together with a eerie voice, at least you didn't say "my precious" giving thumbs up to your question
Just built a new pc, everything works, fans are spinning and led are working on the gpu and on the mobo.
But the problem is when I try to enter the bios to install windows my monitor shows no signal...
Is my mobo dead?!?!?!

@@woodywolf0309 in your case thats one thing that can happen it may have a losse bios chip possibly corrupted bios so it kicks you to uefi witch modern borads don't have

commented on your video, try what I said, and if it doesn't work, do what I do, cry for 6 hours straight, and hopefully it will fix itself :/
Also, do you have different brands of ram? usually you are meant to have all the same brand.

Not every motherboard uefi/bios has that feature.
What was that you were putting the screwdriver on while it powered up???
I'll take a wild guess and say it was the power switch pins he shorted there(that's what the power button does)...

sometime that works, sometimes it don't. if the motherboard does Not read any peak.start up volts on meter. then its dead. they are tools out they to test PCB for power failures. and if got water, tiny drop tht fall on the Motherboard. most likey cooked for good. bad enough if some drop between ram slots. that whap happen to my $400 motherboard. sent it out to get fix all the way in CA. usa.

It could be a number of different reasons, I can't just say off the top of my head, if it's just been built, the power switch pins might not have been plugged in right.
how did you fracture it?
I was playing soccer for P.E. in school and I was in goals, the came at me and hit the side of my little finger which somehow managed to fracture my hand. I kept playing after that for another half hour :p

So when I turn on my pc it comes on for a short while maybe 20 seconds sometimes 30 give or take but no display om my graphics card hdmi or on board HDMI or even VGA I think its called nothing at all anyone have and idea what it could be ty??
Try swapping the ram around, or try it in different slots, that's normally where I would go first

I used a screwdriver to jump the power button connectors. Basically tricking the computer to think I just pushed the power button.

Sounds like a ram problem .
It can also be the cpu! (Dried thermal paste) it was so in my case

Yep. De boel stuk maken en dan terug brengen. Ik zeg alleen dat het moederbord ook zal werken zonder batterij. Moet het moederbord wel goed zijn natuurlijk.
Peter Kruisman ligt er altijd aan hoe het probleem is ontstaan, een fout in een onderdeel is een vervangend onderdeel, een gebogen pin is helaas je eigen probleem.
Het moederbord werkt zonder batterij maar slaat dan geen instellingen op in de bios. Hij krijgt nog electriciteit van de voeding

It wasn't posting, I had swapped out 4 different video cards, 2 processors, nothing was working, but I managed to get it back running.
