for those who are saying that gojo is still high schooler at this time but that doesn't diminish the fact that he was one of the best sorcerer at that time and for all we know this wasn't toji in his absolute prime because he said "i'm getting rusty" and "i'm starting to remember how to do this". all i can say is prime gojo is definitely stronger than prime toji, but if they were to fight in their prime, i just know that toji would give gojo a run for his money.
With the Inverted Spear maybe, but prime Gojo is ridiculous, his only weaknesses as a student were his manual use of the limitless and the fact that he couldn't use Red, purple or reverse CT. With all of those Toji would have it rough as fuck even at his A-game, remember he beat Gojo after he'd been using the Six-Eyes two days straight, with a stab wound out the gate, and he was thrown off by going up against a guy he can't sense.
So the only mistake Toji made was of not taking Gojo's head off when he stabbed him with the cursed tool and that costed him his life. But still to force Gojo to this much limit is just crazy considering how strong he is.

It’s not an asspull it was clearly explained on how Gojo gain the control of Reversal Cursed Technique he also saw and understood the core of cursed energy which only Six Eyes users can do plus he already knows about Purple Hollow he just never used it since he doesn’t have Red yet
At this point in the story its already established that gojo and geto are the strongest but with gojo still reigning supreme. Toji however was the only person who was able to bring him to the cusp of death in which he learned the essence of cursed energy, thus giving him the innate knowledge to make himself into a 24/7 running powerhouse. Also in order to avoid anything like toji happening again.
I love characters like these. If you are on the bad side then be as bad as you can till your last breath. I hate emotional bullshit and change of heart nonsense among villain characters. The prison realm is essentially capping all the curse energy within an area into a bottle. It can trap objects and living things, but cannot contain and infinite space itself, as it can only store one thing at a time after activation. Gojo is in the prison realm right now with his innate domain still up, which is why the prison realm cannot contain him, its contained his domain, but not his actual body in its domain. It's already over for Toji since the beginning, he didn't finish off Satoru giving Satoru a chance to learn RCT at near death state, Satoru is now faster as he capable of dodging Toji's attacks, Gojo's Cursed Technique Red humiliated Toji, and about purple it doesn't matter if Toji was able to dodge it Satoru would still kill him. It's already over for Toji since the beginning, he didn't finish off Satoru giving Satoru a chance to learn RCT at near death state, Satoru is now faster as he capable of dodging Toji's attacks, Gojo's Cursed Technique Red humiliated Toji, and about purple it doesn't matter if Toji was able to dodge it Satoru would still kill him. So stop fanboying over him lol literally the only reason Toji won the first fight is because Gojo was exhausted for using Cursed Energy at 3 days straight.

I think "Eye of the Storm" by Watt White should be Toji Fushiguro's battle/character theme because it's lyrics suit his preferred fighting style. FYI, the author of the JJK manga, GeGe Akutami, in some of the chapter interludes talked about songs he would have as character themes, these include "shame on me" by Avicii for Gojo and "(S)aint" by Marilyn Manson for Sukuna. 🎶😉
