I graduated in 1965, grade school was a one room school house. Moved to town in middle school & high school but all my years in school was the first Monday after Labor Day. I never went school shopping. Mom made my clothes. The first 4 dresses my parents ever bought me were for college, (only went one yr & got my MRS degree)😁. Same for my husband. His upbringing was almost identical to mine. I had 2 brothers, he had 2 sisters. We raised 3 boys. God blessed us with 53.5 yrs together. Lots of memories.

My kids went to public school until high school and then they decided they wanted to be at home. It was awesome. So glad you guys listen and do what she wants. All kids are different and need different things.

My children are now 50 and 49..and I homeschooled both of them (it was even illegal then)..they both now have successful careers,,my son is an assistant fire chief and my daughter runs her own Christian school with over 150 students..we used a variety of curriculum..I know it isn’t for everyone but it worked well for us..

For Dee Dee's skin, my Harley had skin issues/allergies. I used to put a tsp of coconut oil (what you used on Moody and Mildred) in his food. It is ingestable and won't harm her at all, add some warm water to melt it down and stir her food. It has no flavor.. it will help her skin and coat. My vet approved of it.

A tsp-Tbsp Organic coconut oil daily is great for dogs. They love it too! Vitamin E gel caps-daily is also good for skin and bone joints.

My dogs loved it I would just give it they would lick it out out of the spoon. When my bo boy had skin issues I would just take a small amount and rub it in my hands and rub it into his skin. After a while no more issues.

If you want to donate to them, they care about the animals they have. Mary Carl is a very bright young lady who will do fine home schooling.

I used to cut the women out of the catalogs and make them my paper dolls .I used the tall Tide washing powder boxes for their house. I would cut one side out and tape a piece of it to the inside so I would have a two story home. Then I would cut pictures of furniture out and tape it around inside each floor to decorate it. I'm 70 but I still think about those days. My family also came from Selma. Camp Gris was on Old Summerfield Rd. and we had family who lived there and the lake was named after our family, Pardue, then changed to Camp Gris. Still have family there. My Grandfather was the night watchman at the Lock Plant and lived on the property. Course that was the later yrs, they lived on King St. and we lived on Old Orville Rd. That's been such a long time ago.

Brooke, when I started Vet Tech school (3-yr program), the very first day, the head of the ag dept told us to get a job in a vet clinic to find out NOW if we could take the profession BEFORE devoting a difficult 3 years to something we wouldn’t be able to handle. I’m talking blood, pee, poop, vomit, injuries, etc, etc. At least 2 of the 12 people in my class graduated then never worked in the profession.
So I applaud you for finding out early about your PE teacher dreams. Lots of us imagine how cool a job will be then find out it’s not so much when we actually do it. 😻
    P.S. I LOVED all 32 years I was a specialty vet tech. 💕

What vet tech school did you attend?
During my daughter's high school years they were taken on field trips to check out various professions. They went to visit a veterinarian. My daughter realized she found herself alone in the room with the vet. He said are you going too? (To join the other kids in class. She said Do I have to? He said no. so I got a call that something had happened and I should ask her. She said nothing happened. The teacher then said. Well I got a call from the vet we visited. He wants you to know he is giving her a reference and will help however he can her get to college. The vet said in my decades of working and doing these days with students I've never seen a student with such natural talent. Not only is she the only student who never ran out she wanted to stay and she asked very intelligent questions and asked if she could help. I do this to make sure the kids aren't thinking all cute puppies and kittens is what it's about .....what he did was have them come in in the middle of surgery and they'd all leave throwing up gagging etc. My girl walked right up asked what was going on and why and wanted to help and to know every detail. She's a vet tech today. Still learning doing as much as legally allowed andgld and satisfied to be doing the job.

I home schooled my two sons from about 5th grade. With 4 of my grandkids we spent a lot of time traveling our country roads going to school, sports practice, games etc. We found they enjoyed listening to books on tape we borrowed from the library. They had a required reading list, and required to actually read the book then take a test on it. We borrowed a book, listened to it, then they read the actual book and took the test. Their scores went way up! We all enjoyed the taped version, too. We had a subscription to a radio station that played old time radio programs from the 40s. I was surprised at how much the kids loved those programs! Lol! You might try age appropriate books on tape.

I rescued 2 Porkies. Pomeranian mama & Yorkie daddy. Dazi Violet Daffodil is more Pom. RoseBud Sweet Pea is more like a Yorkie. (I have the ultimate bouquet!) I am so blessed, they rarely bark & when they do it's about something important. Either a squirrel is in their yard or someone is here. These litter mates never saw the grass their 1st yr of life.😣 But now they're the happiest little girls I have ever seen. I rescued them but they actually rescued me.❤

DeeDee may have been previously crated and she might have repeatedly chewed on the wire crate out of anxiety and it damaged her teeth.
    🐾CHICKEN IN DOG KIBBLE🐾
Processed chicken protein is one of the top ingredients in dog kibble & treats that alot of dogs are allergic to, not the grains.
I found this out with my black Pekingese foster dog that had really bad dander and scratched all the time.
I elemented processed chicken protein from her kibble and treats. She quickly stopped scratching and eventually had no more dander.

Jason, I too, remember the smell of school. It was a combination of the wax on the floors, the Murphy's Oil Soap that they washed the desks with, the oil on the big dust mops. Add to that the smell of the ink in the new books, especially the ones with slick paper pages. We also had a cafeteria in the school with actual cooks and you could smell what was for lunch that day. Such fond memories even though I wasn't particularly of school

We used alpha Omega it was all on computer but had counselors for children and parents. I had to do a schedule for my son. Loved it and it also helped me. In my late 40's I went to college was working on two masters with a grade point average 3.95 when my mom called need help. Left school got to spend my greatest years with my mom and dad. Even tho I'm almost 25 yrs. your senior your talking about school days brought back memories. That was the only time we got new clothes. Being the baby girl I wore hand me downs a lot also that's the only time we got shoes. Didn't matter if we out grew or wore them out that was it. We went barefoot as I do now. The five kids shared a closet no more than 3 feet wide. The girls got the second bedroom and the boys shared a roll away bed. Our school always smelled like the compound the janitor used on his dust mop. Great Show! If you get a chance see The Sound Of Freedom movie!

One of my favorite memories of going to school was I was a shy child when I was younger and my grandma would take me to get a Trapper Keeper and I get to pick it out and my favorite one was the one with the most purple in it. She let me do that my sneakers and a pack of stickers.

I pulled my 16yr old daughter out of high school. Her brother graduated this past June and she doesn’t want to go alone and I’m not happy with the wokeness of the public school. So we’re starting in September after Labor Day.

I am sorry I missed the live. I was busy in my house. In South Texas, it cooled down for a while as this storm rolls in. I graduated in 1982 and we had to change clothes and shower every day from PE as well. As a public school teacher for 22 years afterwards, I understand why we were made to do that. Let me tell you that when kids come out of PE after working out hard, they stink and have the rest of the day to go to classes. LOL Just sayin'.

One of the most valuable lessons you can learn early in life is to learn what you don't want to do for the rest of your life. The only way you can learn those lessons is to try a lot of different things. It is unfortunate that many don't learn those lessons until it is too late to change without consequences.

Deedee needs a cytopoint shot. Sooo We homeschool here in Jacksonville, Florida, and my kids are different, too, and love being home! I do like Singapore, but we moved on from tgtb to teaching textbooks to Apologia. We are starting with another when we get to 6th! Every subject we have a different company curriculum lol. We did the box set several years ago too. Big fail😂. We are starting Sept 5th:) Happy Homeschooling!! ( I have a masters in early childhood and taught a dozen years but I couldn't wait to leave- I love staying home with mine)

I’m 64 years old and when I attended PE we required to wear a PE uniform and after the class we were required toke a shower. Then at the end of the week we were required to take our PE uniform home to wash it. In high school I was only required to take PE in my Freshman and Sophomore year. The 2 remaining years was optional. I opted out of PE for the Junior and Senior year. I graduated from high school in 1977.

I benefitted from being the 9th of 10 children. When my older sisters started high school they had to make their own clothes if they wanted more than the two skirts and a few tops they had. Or get a job. One of my sisters scrounged for shoes to wear that fit. By the time they had gone to college and I was in high school my mother was working too, and had some money to spend on school clothes, and took us to Sears. I wore their hand me downs most of my life. That's my return to school memory. Hahaha. But I loved school, for the most part.

Hey Jason & Brooke, I'm 53, and my year was '87. And boy oh boy, I remember from 6 grade thru 9th I had PE. I hated changing in front of anyone, but we had no choice. And when we came back in the locker room, we had to shower (without doors or curtain) before redressing unless P.E was the last period. Those were the days. They don't do PE now. I have 6 grandkids from 6 grade thru 11th and it's not a requirement here. I'm in South Florida, Broward County that is. I loved the trip down memory lane. I saw on another page Raggedy Ann & Raggedy Andy Dolls and I got so emotional. Do you guys remember those doll?Love you guys, thx for sharing.

My niece loved Raggedy Ann and Andy as a little girl. One year for Christmas I painted a set of ceramic Ann and Andy for her. They turned out so cute! As far as I know she still has them!
I can remember the gym uniforms in school, in middle school they were cotton and in high school they were a poly knit. And we had to shower with no curtains! Now days there is probably a law against that.
