I would absolutely recommend their Harry Potter series,so far there two with the Prisoner of Azkaban coming out in October 2023 Definitely a fresh take on the books! From the original graphic Design team of the movies
Bibliofilth Yes, these are really nice books - they are a very strong design team! (Although I’d be happy if they went ahead without the metal spinners for the rest of the series - it’s annoying trying to protect the book pages from those, and they have lots of other less damaging ‘interactive’ ideas...)
Unfortunately, not yet. I've heard things have been a bit delayed by the Fantastic Beasts series - their next book will be the "Archive of Magic" that is coming out in November: amzn.to/2PklhD7
Ooooohhh - the next MinaLima edition has been announced for pre-order: Alice in Wonderland is coming out October! Book Dep: bit.ly/AliceMinaLima or Amazon: amzn.to/2XbokRq
I know! So excited!! (You can even preorder an early signed copy from their website if you're okay with the British 'Philosopher's Stone edition.) Pinocchio in this series is also coming out soon 😀
I disagree with the cover and title. 11:54 Why do they give the title of the book "The Little Mermaid..........and other tales" when there are 8 to 12 tales in the book, and the mermaid story is only 1 small portion of it?
Thanks! I do have a few more in the collection to showcase, but I'm trying to figure out how I could do a different sort of video if I updated it - maybe a comparison of iconic scenes by different illustrators? Hm...
@@sonicfreak04 Oh yes, I *love* that book! That would be amazing! I have a really lovely illustrated edition of The Once and Future King (which includes the revised edition of Sword in the Stone) put out by the Folio Society a few years ago if you're looking for a nice edition in the meantime - not interactive like MinaLima of course, but it does have some very pretty woodcuts and an awesome binding (it's a wraparound mediaeval castle, so cool).
@@BeautifulBooks I love folio societies books, I really wish I could have gotten their limited edition illustrated alice in wonderland book illustrated by Charles van Sandwyk.
@@sonicfreak04 Well, the good news is that I heard on the grapevine there will be a standard FS Alice edition out soon with Charles' illustrations (it will be a little smaller, but at least it will be more affordable and will give you a chance to get his beautiful artwork!)
I have a question... in the Peter Pan part the first chapter started with “but on the other hand”... doesn’t Peter Pan originally starts with “all the boys except one grow up”?
Yes, you are correct, Peter Pan does start with "All children, except one, grow up". The page with "But on the other hand" in the MinaLima edition is the title page of the first chapter, and each title page contains a quote from later in the in the chapter (for chapter one it is about some leaves Mrs Darling finds on the nursery floor after Peter visits the children) 😃
Beautiful books , but cover corners not very sturdy, at least in my copies, wish they would reinforce them!, though I must correct previous statements! Corners wearing off was more likely in the Harry Potter’s illustrated editions
A bit of an upopular opinion over here. As much as I love the covers of these books and the illustrations inside, I'm not a huge fan of the interactive elements, I feel like they don't add much to the story (with the exception of a few clever ones). I feel like the books would've been just as beautiful without them.
Just 'Kiran Thanks so much for commenting, I love to hear all different opinions on books 💕 I love this series, but I agree that some of the interactive elements are better thought out than others - Beauty & the Beast in particular has some inclusions that seem a little random as I mentioned in the video, and I wondered if this volume had been a bit rushed to tie the release in with the Disney movie? I also find the design of the spinning wheels a little frustrating because they make indents in the pages, even when keeping the protectors on. However, on the other hand, many of the elements are really delightful, and I think there are many more hits than misses. For example, I think Tinkerbell’s fairy wing is gorgeous, the ballroom in The Little Mermaid is spectacular, unfolding the letters in The Secret Garden is charming, and the fold-out maps in all the books are stunning and do add enjoyment to the story. But then, I love clever paper engineering in many forms (I have a huge pop-up book collection too 😀) so I am definitely part of the target market for this series!
Beautiful Books I forgot to mention that despite not liking them that much I do own 2 books in this series. There are indeed a few elements that I really like (for example the Medical notes or the foldable Peter Pan shadow that add depths to the story and are quite playful). At the end I think it all comes down to personal taste. I initially started purchasing them because I love collecting fairy tales books. Talking about Fairy Tales, do you know Chronicle Books‘ « Tales » series ? I love those books (even though I wish they featured more illustrations).
Just 'Kiran I think Peter Pan is probably my favourite of the series actually. Which other one did you get? If I am thinking of the right Chronicle Books series, I do have them - I thought the Celtic Tales was particularly fantastic, but the Spooky and Indian Tales were a bit lighter on in terms of the illustrations than I had hoped. Chronicle also publish Kinuko Craft’s stunning fairy tales too - her art is incredible. And they have a beautiful illustrated Ramayana by one of the Pixar artists. (So, yes, I love fairy tale and folk lore collections too!)
I own Peter Pan and The Jungle Book. I love Chronicle Books, they publish great titles for book collectors. I was also a bit disappointed by 'Tales of India' but I love the illustrations of the other two. They're releasing 'Tales of Japan' next year in April featuring illustrations by Kotaro Chiba (quite exciting this one).
I was going to do Pinocchio along with Wizard of Oz, but that's still a few months away yet... (In the meantime, there are some photos from all the books on my webpage here: beautifulbooks.info/2018/08/minalimas-interactive-illustrated-classics-series/)
just saw your update - I did do Peter Pan earlier, here: th-cam.com/video/hivVwTemHbw/w-d-xo.html (and I also have a large Peter Pan collection that I hope to do a video review of soon too!)
What a charming series! I wish I had books like those when I was a kid. I may have to buy them for my inner child ;)
Leanne Burnham Yes, they’re quite lovely. (And, while they may be considered children’s literature, they’re certainly still fun to read as an adult 😀)
You are never too old!
This generation is so lucky, we didn't have such beautiful books even 20 years back
If you have more, Please keep making videos
I love interactive books 😍
Yes - I’m working on a few videos of interactive books like these - they’ll be up in the next few months 💕
I would absolutely recommend their Harry Potter series,so far there two with the Prisoner of Azkaban coming out in October 2023
Definitely a fresh take on the books! From the original graphic Design team of the movies
Love these books. Thanks for sharing.
And thanks to you for taking the time to comment :)
Your pfp is the prettiest I've ever seen. It looks so good giving hearts!
Oh thank you 💕
I know those interactive elements are often gimmicky, but I think they add some nice graphic elements to these editions.

Lovely gimmicks! 😅
I loved the secret garden a lot
Hi, are these books unabridged with the full original text?
Yes, they’re the original text, unabridged 😀
@@BeautifulBooks Thank you!
Do you know which books MinaLima will be working on next as part of the 12 volume series?

MINALIMA IS COMING OUT WITH AN ILLUSTRATED VERSION OF HARRY POTTERNAND THE SORCERS STONE!!!!!! Just thought you'd like to know 😁😀
I know! So excited!! (You can even preorder an early signed copy from their website if you're okay with the British 'Philosopher's Stone edition.) Pinocchio in this series is also coming out soon 😀
I always wonder, are they limited edition? Or will they have it in stock for a very very long time?
I disagree with the cover and title. 11:54 Why do they give the title of the book "The Little Mermaid..........and other tales" when there are 8 to 12 tales in the book, and the mermaid story is only 1 small portion of it?
looking forward to the next one "alice in wonderland"

Yes, I find these paper covers are quite fragile too - both for these and their Potter books.

The book is stunning but such a shame how many pages are indented by that metal ring from the spinning wheel 😢
