- There has been cancer, preventative chemotherapy, serious abdominal surgery. Prince William has been away from public duty, looking after his wife and children.
Now, completely out of the blue, the Princess Royal has had an accident as well. The Royal family is looking at the absence of one of its key players.
How is Anne seen within the family and amongst the public? How will her absence affect an already stretched monarchy? When will she return to work?

Wishing Princess Anne a full and speedy recovery.
Princess Anne is someone who I have always had a great deal of respect for. She has always been her own person; knows who she is and has always set her own course. Smart, tough, hardworking, disciplined and independent-minded, the Princess Royal, to me, has always been a classy lady and I wish her all the very best in her recovery from this accident. As one gets older, physical injuries become more difficult to deal with and she is now in her mid-70s, and while she is a hard worker and likes to get on with things without any fuss, I hope she takes the time to rest and recuperate properly.

1975/1976 My memories of Princess Anne staying onboard Royal Yacht Dannebrog before and after her Olympics Fall would likely be easy for The Telegraph to verify. In my recall both Princess Anne and Princess Benedicte of Denmark had shared some of the same steeplechase horse trainers. That ought to be easy to verify. Royal Yacht Britannia was in Montreal with the British Royal Famly Summer of 1976 also in The USA for the Bicentennial Events. At the same time Royal Yacht Dannebrog was in Shelburne Harbour, N.S. and was a reunion point for the British, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and German Royals that sailing season. The riding grounds there arched up the hill from Sandy Point Road, North East of Mayflower Street along an 1800s Era Semaphore Tower Signal Line along the bog sides. It was a Royals riding ground from at least early 1900s. True.
The vast majority of concussions heal within 3 months. 10% last longer and a portion of those will never heal. It can’t be known at this point which result she will have but a history of prior concussions is a negative factor, and she has had at least one prior concussion (during the Olympics). Also, it is possible she has had additional issues such as bleeding on the brain as per a CT scan…

The Monarchy has fallen . Such a shame Princess Anne was not Queen as she is very much respected & liked 😊 but we have ended up with gruesome twosome , Princess Anne did her Mum so proud when Queen Elizabeth passed I was so proud of Anne walking every step towards her Mum beautiful send off 😊

I am certainly not a Royalist by any manner or means, but I have always though that, of the whole bunch of them, she was the one who seemed to stand apart from the usual expected " Royal Norm " ?? there is a quality there that the rest do not have. I hope she makes a full recovery !

It's consistent with a significant hit to the head, to lose parts of one's memory. Hopefully it will return as she's able to have rest, quiet and consistency to allow her brain to heal. She needs her home (familiar place and her personal things), her family, her regular staff and quiet.

Yes this is common with a head injury. Hopefully she will recover the rest of her memory from that day. She may or may not recall the circumstances in which she was injured. That's got to rattle her and the family even if she is known to be hard working and no nonsense. I wish her a full return to health
