The fact you can hear how great the guitar tone is recorded through a phone 11 years ago speaks to how iconic and well-crafted it is.
Really? It sounds like utter dog shit. Which explains a lot when tou consider how diluted and boring everything they have written on the past two albums has turned out to be. Hiding behind over produced recordings and flashing new technology. Washed up and boring.

Periphery went from playing smaller capacity shows like this to opening up for Dream Theatre in 2 months.. Thats awesome!

When they right a lot of times the recorded versions will have double tracked guitars, and they tend to have multiple guitar parts going on at the same time to create layers through out the song. Also to quote Misha "People ask why we have 3 guitarists, and I tell them it's because we can't afford four guitarists."
He's improved incredibly man, just wait for the new album to drop + recent live shows ;)

@Cman1084 it wasn't exactly a venue this show was mixed in with a comic book convention type thing so they actually really gutted this show there was no moshing allowed and they cut the local acts.. it was a mess but towards the very end people began to mosh and what not and also this is why the lights where on and some guy actually got kicked out for hardcore dancing when they started playing lol

@danconsequence its also called like the STRONGEST NOISE GATE IVE EVER HEARD. mark said this one song has a different setting for the noise gate for the tighter tone. their effects run on a click track and it changes their effect settings for them so its not like he would have to sit there and change it.

Well it allows the band to put down a heavy two piece rhythm with added atmopsheric lead over the top without taking away from the mix :)

@ACDCwarmachine The super tight gate capability is one of the many things axefx's are great for =) some of the patches i run are incredibly gated too, it sounds sweet but yeah it still requires a super tight hand technique to work well! Id love to get midi patch changing linked up and running for my own stuff too but something about not changing my own patches still frightens me haha ;)

It's not his voice, it's the live mix. Listen to their newer live performances, Charlie Day is spot on and an amazing singer

Why so many guitars. Serious question
They write all their music that way. Really, most bands do too but just simplify things live so that only 2 guitar players can handle it. Periphery doesn't do it that way, and they also get a bit more complicated with layering guitar parts instead of the usual 2 guitars playing the same riff with a lead guitar over the top.
Frankly more metal bands should have 3 guitar players
Conclusion? Wanna back that up with something? Or must we all follow your teachings, sensei? Seriously quit being a troll and smile.
