    Surprised Arsene Wenger's not on this list. He made football a truly athletic game. Changing player behaviour and dieting, the way teams train and adopting various Cruyff methods into the English game. I'd argue he's changed football more than anyone, as the way players run and work is different because of him. Agility is much more thought of and hacking players down is much less seen - in large part because of him. But this list is combined of people who changed football in so many different ways, mostly off the pitch. But on the pitch, nobody had a bigger influence than Wenger. The behaviour, dieting, training and favouring of certain athletic qualities have changed football at the top, to the bottom. I'd go as far as saying he was never even a great manager, he was an average manager ahead of his time in England.

      This is just idiotic, he might have changed some things in England, but this was common practice in France and especially Italy.

    • @GarethWareth
      @GarethWareth 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Most of these people of this list only changed stuff in one country. Cyrille Regis is barely recognised outside of the UK. Nothing wrong with that. The point is, Wenger took stuff from France (it certainly wasn't common practice in Italy), Cruyff and various other places. You won't find one original idea on this list. If you think Cruyff's ideas were original you're wrong. He was educated and was just the guy who brought it to the mainstream. Same with Wenger. Tupac once said, "I know I won't change the world, but I know I'll spark the mind that will." Well Cruyff and Wenger were the guys who changed the game - they weren't original ideas. Wenger's ideas were practised in other sports before also. Doesn't mean he's not a revolutionary of the game.

      Italy invented most of the things Wenger implemented, they were the first to use science and dietary changes to improve footballers.

      He didn't change anything. He just introduced already existing concept to the English game. Coaches like Valeriy Lobanovskyi and Renus Michels were far more influencial than him in that respect and they came before him too.

    • @zAfrobeatz
      @zAfrobeatz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although true for England, you could easily argue that the likes of Valeriy Lobanovskyi Rinus Michels were the first managers to take player fitness really seriously.

    Messi and Ronaldo are going to change the game forever,
    Because they have set an standard of 50+ goals every season and with the consistany they have had over the years.

      George best was the first to be hugely popular but never used it for anything. He ended up a broke alcoholic. Nobody followed in his footsteps.
      Beckham was the first to recognize his popularity as a business opportunity. He capitalized on it by building a global brand to make himself even bigger. Now we see "CR7" , Neymar and Pogba following the exact same model he left.

      I actually think Beckham belongs on this list but that is not a good thing. as the video said he where the first super celebrity of football. He build a whole brand around his name much in the same way Neymar, Zlatan and Pogba did later. Before Beckham footballers where just that after him the biggest stars is so much more. Chapman might be unknown for most people but he is one of if not the most important figure in the history of football, there are so many elements in modern football that we take as granted that can be traced back to him. He was also extremely important when it came to spreading the game from Britain to the rest of the world.

    Seems like a british dominated list. I would like to see a list of the 25 Gamechanger in Football history in a objective international point of view.
    I have even one or two more brits in mind that had a big influnece to the game.

      BurnRoddy Did you pay attention to the video? It didn’t mention his talent but instead how he used his popularity to become a brand and businessman.

    Lev Yashin? Introducing a goalkeeper role playing the full penalty box instead of always staying at goal.
    But of course a black english player is more trendy.

      For the same reason Maradona isn't. They were great players, but they didn't change the way the game is played.

      But he paved the way for skillers and showman. He was doing stuff with the ball that no one of his time had even dreamed or thought of doing. He should be in this list my dude. He was waaaayyy ahead of his time
