I can recommend BBTAG the broken fighting game that got me interested in the genre in the first place.

Nothing more fun than feeding someone a delicious bowl of Lightning Loops in Marvel. Part of an unbalanced breakfast.

You haven't lived until you subjected someone to a Zappa blockstring.

I always wanted to get into a FG for real and try to learn it, but none had ever grabbed me. Recently, I've been dipping my toes into Rev2 due to becoming fascinated with how Venom plays, and I found myself wanting to learn Venom in +R as well. +R is so messed up that he looks fair in comparison

Hard agreed. After watching your videos I started play +r casually and it is so much fun. Learning Order Sol and seeing what other people do. I really wanna learn Melty as well I just don't know where to start.

Super smash bros melee is the only smash game you can call a fighting game it’s the only one that happens to be difficult and it’s the only one that’s broken in that way

All of them are "fighting games". They're just a subgenre of fighting games called platform fighters. People don't consider them fighters not because they're easy, but because they simply aren't the same style of game. I have been a melee fan for YEARS and I would NEVER call it a fighting game simply because it's not. It's a platform fighter. Same as the rest of the smash games and other games like Nick All Star Brawl, Brawlhalla, Multiversus, and Rivals of Aether. The issue with the genre is that it's filled with a bunch of garbage games like many of the games I just listed. Smash is not a fighting game and never will be.

@@coldramen6815 my point is that the rest of the games are fundamentally uncompetitive and the newer ones include unique comeback mechanics that take little to no skill to fully optimize. Melee has none of that; although the characters are different, none of them actually have an unfair advantage when you balance skill vs reward. If you want to get technical sure, smash is a platform fighter. But melee is the only one that isn’t a glorified party game

@@yatagarasu5775 I would argue that in that sense you would be incorrect. Every game after melee has been much easier to get a grasp of but if you are looking at the competitive scene there has always been one. Ultimate is a prime example of a game that’s not technically tough to grasp but if you were put into a game with someone who’s been playing for longer than you you’re gonna get crushed. Smash is just an easy to understand fighting game, that doesn’t make it any less competitive. You have to spend time learning what your character’s strengths and weaknesses are and what moves string together at what points in the match. Smash is easier to understand but it’s just as competitively viable as any other fighting game. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know anything about the series and is just never going to admit they’re wrong because they want to win the “argument”.

@@coldramen6815 Right? If difficulty was a requirement then Smash is more of a fighting game than some actual fighting games. lol

I dunno chief, I don’t exactly pick up Skullgirls and say “damn, I love this game because the execution and mix is stupidly hard”, and also wobbling was a defensible and viable strategy for over a decade, and requires just memorizing one looping combo. Difficulty and fun aren’t the same thing, and every time I hear somebody say “my game is good because it’s difficult”, it just speaks of somebody trying too hard to be badass
