      Hummmm are you speaking from experience lol Well in defence of the sewing shears the cost to replace mine is pretty pricey sooooo it stands to reason that they only be used for cutting material only.

    I use Irish spring bar soap in my trailer to keep the Kritters away. Smells great, cheap and available everywhere. Been using it for 3 years now after my In-laws told me about it.

    Thank you for highlighting the prep work needed to customize one's rv. I have to admit you are skilled at one-handed filming and working. I also add lavender scented dryer sheets in all my closets and drawers as a deterrent. Love the tile trim! It does pull the colors together.

      That's been tested and it doesn't work. Best thing is steel wool and foam. Or steel wool and these plastic covers.

  • @bearyj2176
    @bearyj2176 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Good info. Just FYI, a substitute for the steel wool roll is Brillo, S.O.S., or the like, soap pads as they are made of steel wool. Thanks!

    The key to keeping little friends out, is plugging up all the places they can get in form the underside of the camper. Also a trick that so far is working for me is I surrounded my RV carport with LED string lights, this keeps the area lite up at night which seems as this point keeping them away.

    • @Merica_dadgarage
      @Merica_dadgarage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dryer sheets in all cracks and crevices work great to and don’t leave the mothball smell. Been using every winter for the last 9-10yrs never had a problem with rodents and I live out in farm lands. Cheaper the better. I go straight to the dollar SEL tire for them. Then get a aluminum pan for like cooking a turkey in a pour a small beg of kitty litter in there to keep the moisture down. All good so for both the last 32ft bunkhouse and our new 39ft toy hauler 5th wheel.

    As a pest control professional and fellow RVer, these both are perfect and by far the best. The Irish Springs soap and bounce sheets don’t do anything. The down side to using the steel wool around the pipes is that steel wool is very abrasive and can eventually rub through the pipes due to the vibration when traveling. Ask me how I know ...

    About an hour ago I just finished a weekend of bleaching and shampooing our beautiful and extremely clean 2019 Wolf Pup because a stupid worthless mouse got in and crapped everywhere. I think it came up the grey tank drain under the shower. Sealed it up as best I could, not very accessible. I hate mice. Thanks for the video, glad I’m not the only one thinking about rodents

    Spray foam also holds moisture probably not a big problem in a 5th wheel where's there's a basement area but if it is a hole to the outside them it can hold moisture from outside and rot the wood

    I used those peel and stick tiles on my travel trailer. Removed the very small 1 piece backsplash behind my stove and used these to make the backsplash much much larger. The wife is extremely happy and we have had it on there for 2 years now with no issues. Would definitely use again on a new RV. I didn’t use any other adhesive other than what it came with. I think what you did applying it to the island looks great. Certainly ties in the countertops.

    We added the same tile in our fifth wheel except ours has some blue to give a different color to the dark wood interior. Been up for two years. Only issue so far is heat in the summer. Have a few “top” portions lifting some. Added some glue and back up no issues. Put up as kitchen backsplash and an accent strip through the bathroom, which also helps with splashing water for that sink as well.

    They now sell a Rodent proof spray foam.
    If you boondock, you will get rodents, it’s just a matter of time.
    We use sticky mouse traps when boondocking, we thumb tack them to the tops of each tire......that’s where they come in! And yes, we’ve caught them on the tire trying to get inside the motorhome! We don’t particularly care for glue traps but it works.
    Thank you! 👍

    Steel wool is a great idea. A neighbor of mine (years ago) would give helpful hints like that. She said rodents don’t like shards of glass either (not to say you’d want to break up glass in your beautiful RV ... LOL 😂). They apparently won’t cross it.
    BTW ... beautiful RV!

  • @AmericanSurvival001

    You could not have chosen a better tile color for that kitchen as far as blending in with everything, and you chose the best floorplan there is as far as kitchens go in the length of RV that you have it’s the one I would’ve chosen and will choose as well so you have the extra counter space for your coffee station where it’s located , so it does not have to be put away every day or moved around...
