Such rare and rewarding photos of land girls/ auxiliaries and servicemen ! My generation might not have been much in evidence had it not also been for the efforts of these brave men and women.( Lovely, nostalgic imagery that truly matches the music .)
Hi, David, and thank you. You have such a gift for creating thought-provoking stories that run through my mind as I watch your videos. Tonight’s story is uplifting and timely, honoring, as it does, the people we in the U.S. call “The Greatest Generation.” With dis-ease spreading globally just now, I hope we can summon up the strength of character our predecessors demonstrated in holding things together, until anxiety over shortages and loss is behind us again. (I volunteer to work as a “LumberJill,” if any exist.) Stay well, please. The daffodils are blossoming, and there’s so much LIGHT!
Hi Irian and thanks as always for your kind and thoughtful comment. I originally thought of trying to fit some of Paul Nash's paintings to this particular piece, but decided, eventually, that these photographs might suit better. I do hope you and yours are keeping well and finding ways to enjoy the beautiful Spring. All the best.
Ooohhh,I'm impressed by the photos in just one color! Women working on everything! Isn't the music an accompaniment to some movie?...I liked it interesting! Thank you Mr.Harris! and good afternoon, greetings to my Beloved Dark and whoever writes to you!☆thank you very much🫖☕️🍪👌👋🐎👱♀️‼️
Hi Malena, I'm not aware of the music being used in a film, but you may well be right, it has a certain filmic quality. Glad you enjoyed the video anyway; women turned their hands to almost everything during WW2, they kept the country running. Hope all is well.

Another wonderful classical video David with unique black & white fotos, which I have not seen before. They clearly tell a story of what it must have been like. ‘Lest we forget’!
Pleasure, it can be annoying when you don't know the name of a piece of music. I've had to resort to humming the tune of a piece to people in the past - not an enjoyable experience for them.

I've just reread your comment and noticed your spelling of dis-ease. A subtle but important distinction methinks and I concur with your sentiment.

Glad you enjoyed it Juan. People can show such resilience and courage.
May we never forget.
Kept semi-earworming this for years and now I know what it is! Muchos gracias!

Fantastic images. Interesting how Ireland's priceless and immortal music is able to serve as a soundtrack for English girls and boy pilots in wartime.
My all-time hypermega-favorite string orchestra. Ireland needs to be better known.
Doubly fascinating as Ireland lived just along the way from us here in Deal, Kent prior to the war
أخذتني إلى عالم ٍ آخر ....
شكرا ً ديفيد .......
إنه لمن دواعي سروري ، أنا سعيد لأنك استمتعت به.
❤🙋♀️
These photos have nothing to do with the music, composed BEFORE the war.
