I love that the first half of season 3's biggest strength is humanizing the fire nation. The first two seasons are centered around building up the fear of the nation has a whole, but these episodes show that the people are just people. They aren't all the army
And, part of last season was tearing up how messed up the greatest Earth Kingdom city was. It shows that people are people-flawed and perfect at the same time.
