He used to be my seminary teacher from 1998-2002!! I have so much respect and love for this man and his family. The lessons and thoughts shared will always stick in my heart. I wish the best for him and his children and Brooke.
I’m not a Mormon and never have been, but as an anthropologist, I just want to thank Mormon Stories for an invaluable insight into a fascinating culture.
Unbelievable how poorly the church treats the CES employees who devote their lives to service- appears there is some kind of insane belief that poverty = righteousness except where the general authorities are concerned as they are very well compensated. What a pile of hypocritical BS. What an intrinsically evil organization.
I don't understand why paid Seminary teachers have to undergo a rigorous hiring process, yet unpaid Seminary teachers (which probably makes up the majority) is basically the first person in that Ward or branch that says "Yes".
It's a strange behavior when people are so angry when someone leaves the LDS church. You should just be sad and tell them they are loved and welcome to come back if they ever want to.
I left for a myriad of reasons. I was sad learning more about the LDS Church. Here is one thing: Did you know that Brigham Young taught that Adam is God? How can the LDS Church try to cover up that doctrine as if it did not happen? Either Brigham Young was a false-prophet or the current LDS Church rejects God's doctrine. Many fellow Mormons would constantly bad-mouth anyone who left the LDS Church. We were told never to talk to former members, lest we be in dialogue with Satan. So many more reasons, secular and religious, I could not stay in it.
Well, since the LDS regard the Bible as being completely mistranslated, or at least, they don’t know what to trust in it so they read it as little as possible......they don’t apparently know about the prodigal son.....and how his father slaughtered the fatted calf and celebrated his son’s return. But if you try to return to the LDS church after leaving, they will harangue you with not being allowed to partake of the sacrament, hold any positions, etc. So much for feeling welcomed back.
It is a very natural emotion to feel anger when one leaves. To know that the truth is obfuscated, that truth is misstated, that so many things we are told is lies. Yes, to feel anger and grief and shock is completely normal.
I also began a serious and in-depth study of those that restored the truth, starting in ’91. By ’93, I was scouring dimly lit stacks in the libraries of liberal universities, checking out century-old exposés on the “Mormons” and their leaders. By ’95, I was a full-time missionary debunking serious misreadings of our teachings. Today, I continue to read voraciously and am stronger in the Church than ever. It’s not the history that’s the problem; it’s that some people don’t do a balanced study.
make it millions minus one. He hasn't ruined mine, but has blessed mine. And I would say that he hasn't ruined a single life. People have the right to choose eternal salvation through Christ or eternal death.
Glenn CALDER I'm an ex Mormon that was born into the church but I'll be the first too say I don't believe in the church but Joseph Smith did not ruin my life, I had a wonderful life growing up in the church but as I grew up I started too see the church in another way and started seeing the truth but as a teenager I rebelled and stopped going but as an adult I picked back up but never was able too get involved in it and as an adult I made my choices and not put blame on anyone same and the current members today, if their happy living in the church that's their choice, I never saw any brain washing going on, these people must be happy, what ever floats your boat but stop the blaming, it's like an alcoholic you can't convince them their an alcahlic and you can't make them stop, when they hit rock bottom they'll see the truth, I was the most active member in my family and I'm the only one that has left the church.
@@d.levichestnutwoodboillot8022 Sounds like a real loving god you got there. Believe, without evidence, adhere and obey, for reasons, or suffer eternally. Do you even hear the nonsense you spout?
@@RB-zh1eq, are you able to clarify this statement? This sounds to me like the exact opposite of what Christians believe, but I may be misunderstanding something. Thanks!
the church makes you pay tithing even if your poor inorder for them to continue to help a member in need even though the church has so much money it could give
There are 17 full chapters from the Book of Isaiah in the Book of Mormon in Mosiah. In a close comparison of chapter 53 of Isaiah and the 14th chapter of Mosiah one will find that all the italicized words in Isaiah are word for word copied in Mosiah. Those italicized words were added by the King James translators in 1611 for clarification and easier reading in English. Your prophet only copied it so that it will look like a religios book, your prophet was a liar.
The Book of Mormon is not supported by any archeological evidence. I've read the story of Thomas Stuart Ferguson, if you want a devout Mormon who wanted to prove the BOM true it was him. LDS apologists (some of them anyway) admit the lack of archeological evidence substantiating the BOM:"...faith in the scriptures-whether the Bible or the Book of Mormon-must rest upon something other than scholarly consensus and archaeological evidence...
The first myth we need to eliminate is that Book of Mormon archaeology exists…. If one is to study Book of Mormon archaeology, then one must have a corpus of data with which to deal. We do not. The Book of Mormon is really there so one can have Book of Mormon studies, and archaeology is really there so one can study archaeology, but the two are not wed. At least they are not wed in reality since no Book of Mormon location is known with reference to modern topography. next
the term chariot many times (and in many different time periods) which shows that the BOM peoples used the concept of the wheel. Some example of this are: 2 Ne. 12: 7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots. Also in Alma 18: 9. 10, Alma 18: 12. Alma 20: 6. 3 Ne. 3: 22. 3 Ne. 21: 14. So what happened to the wheel? (next)
Thoughts: Keeping members just above the poverty line keeps them reliant on the church. It also allows reconfirming miracles possible. Does the church do this on purpose?
In the BOM, horses and chariots go together like 'bows and arrows'. It should be obvious that chariots used in conjunction with horses mean just what you would think it would mean; horses pulling the chariots. Now if I ask myself or I ask anyone else, or you. Must a chariot have wheels? INDEED they must have.
I'm still attending, but hope to never ask assistance from them due to the unwholesome commingling of priorities. There are so many parallels between Islam and Mormonism. It is uncanny.
+Khadijah Brown LDS MAKES ZERO SENSE! THEY TELL YOU TO BE CELEBATE AND DO CERTAIN THINGS AND BE CERTAIN WAY. PROBLEM LDS FOUNDER WAS SERIAL POLYGAMIST ADULTER. READ NAUVOO EXPOSITOR NEWSPAPER. CULT!
NAUVOOEXPOSITOR LATTERDAYSAINTS Recently, I am finished with it. For me there is not issue with the BOM or Joseph Smith. It is their unkind attitude, condemning those who God did not condemn. Their treatment of the children of SSM felt awful to me. I am not going to have a SSM, but the children are the innocent victims. With all my passion I condemn their actions. As for me, I have my own special grievance against them. I am one of the people in Isaiah 56:4-5, and in Matt 19:12 Jesus Christ made it clear that who I am is no condemnation. God has already given me a room in his house and an Everlasting name which shall not be cut off. They thought to stand between me and my God. They shall not.
Biblical archaeology can be studied because we do know where Jerusalem and Jericho were and are, but we do not know where Zarahemla and Bountiful (nor any other location for that matter) were or are. It would seem then that a concentration on geography should be the first order of business, but we have already seen that twenty years of such an approach has left us empty-handed." Hey, Chinaculiacan. Not sure I understand your question. Are you suggesting that the knowledge of the wheel was lost, then came back? (There are certainly many technologies like that, but I wasn’t aware of the wheel being among them.) Thanks!
Not at all. The origin of the wheel is unknown, but once it was invented, knowledge of the wheel spread rapidly throughout the Mediterranean and Asian world. Wheeled vehicles made the movement of goods much easier. The earliest known examples of wheels are from Mesopotamia and date from about 3500 to 3000 BC. The cart or wagon, pulled by humans or animals, was the first wheeled vehicle. Lehi and his party obviously had knowledge of the wheel. The Book of Mormon uses ----

Titus 1:5-6. An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Did you see that Otter? You and I and the Mormon leaders were living in the NEW TESTAMENT, therefore there is no excuse for them to practice polygamy let alone take other men's wives, the OT was practiced but God had his covenant with them and knew how to deal with them, NOW we live in the NT and again there is no excuse for it.
@JosephSmithOneWife What I LOVED about Mormonism was this highly developed level of compassion your words demonstrate--truely Christ-like and worthy of the LDS claim to being Christian.
Working and trying to keep the commandments will never please God. Eph 2:5 By grace we are saved through faith, Not of Works, lest any Mormon should boast. Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
+Khadijah Brown I haven't finished this one yet but there are four parts to this series - you might have to watch the rest to find out! I myself would like to see a more condensed version rather than watching 4+ hours, although it is all very interesting
No one seems to doubt that chariots were used in the Old World but no non-Mormon scholar believes that chariots (or any wheeled vehicle) were used anywhere in the New World before Columbus. The argument put forth by faithful Mormons like you that the chariots spoken of in the Book of Mormon were wheel-less vehicles is absurd. In every instance that the word chariot is mentioned in the BOM, it is used in conjunction with the word 'horse'. (next)
OMG, I was just in the page, Fairmormon, and all I saw were just excuses, what in the world? So What you are telling me is that if you were to be living in Joseph's time you wouldn't have mind giving him your wife? Are you serious? How blind and idolater can you be? fair even admits Joseph married already married women, In an article, published on LDS FAIR (The Foundation for Apologetic Information & Research) web site, apologist Samuel Katich confirms the Church's acceptance that next
doing is right then I don't think nothing will. Imagine if you had spent 50 years living with your devoted spouse, fully intending to be married together in heaven for all eternity, just like you have enjoyed on earth for the last 50 years and then the prophet says he wants your wife to be his 33rd wife. So in the next life you don't get your devoted wife of 50 years, instead you have to find another. Are we to believe that God actually commanded the prophet to do this? next
Otter, Chariots are also found in pictorial form, including northern Italian grave monuments as, for example, the famous Paduan Stele (Frey 1968), on "Celtic" coinage (Furger-Gunti 1993: 214), and on late Hallstatt and Early La Tène sheet metal vessels (Frey 1962), as, for example, the Vace situla (Frey and Lucke 1962).
Well, even if we assume that their chariots were wheeled (which is a HUGE assumption), why would you assume that that knowledge would remain with their descendants, much less the descendants of their enemies? Plenty of technology has been lost to history and had to be rediscovered.
Well as I said before I am not here to argue and I respect your opinion, I am familiar with what I speak and the 1982 discourse. I would simply like to offer a word of caution. As long as you seek to find things that only support your position that is all you will ever find, the truth will forever evade you. I could be wrong or maybe your not open to it but if your interested you might enjoy Plato's allegory of the cave.
we shouldnt be lazy we should serve others as jesus did. men sin all prophets have sinned but they were all followed if they didnt sin theyd be perfect
with apparent consummate ease, why did he suddenly abandon his divine gift in favor of a text that could not hope to be any more accurate? Further, as we have seen, the Isaiah text of the Book of Mormon often reflects the problems and shortcomings of the King James Version. This should not have been the case, if, as President Smith alleged "except for those differences indicated in the Nephite original. Your beliefs are stronger then facts, I gave you facts and you just put them away

A believe is stronger than a fact, what evidence of the BOM are you talking about? It doesn't even have a world setting for it, what assumptions? I really wanted to think I was having a conversation with and intelligent person, I gave you facts proving the falseness of your book, (The wheel, the animals in the BOM) can your truth stand investigation? Does it fear it?
The problem that naturally accompanies this explanation should be obvious. If the Book of Mormon plates did indeed contain an ancient version of Isaiah, it should stand to reason that this version would be textually superior to that contained in the King James Version. The latter used a Hebrew text which, at the time that the KJV was produced, dated from no earlier than the ninth century AD. If Smith was able to translate the rest of the non-Biblical passages of the Book of Mormon -- next
I don't like that the church is not true! I don't like all I've gone through because of it! I don't like what my kids have gone through because of it and I don't like thinking about all the time and money I've wasted on it! I know I will spend the rest of my life trying to sort it all out and I don't like it either!!
So sorry you’ve had that experience. I haven’t seen that myself, but I’m married, so it’s probably not something I would notice. I have had a similar experience, though: many years ago, I was on the cusp of leaving due to what I perceived as a negative bias against men. I know to many people, that sounds ridiculous, but it was very real to me. It took just the right person to explain things in a way that allowed me to reframe my thinking. I know I’m just a stranger on the Internet, but if there’s any way I can help, please let me know! 😊
I have difficulty following this speaker. He keeps talking and talking in response to a question. I am not Mormon so that may very well in part of my difficulty in following him. Love your videos. I have learned a lot about the LDS Church in the past 3 weeks from your videos. All your speakers should be congratulated for speaking up. Keep up the great videos.
isn't that the point? this discussion isn't new at all, religions claim to absolute truth no "other" group has. This is an old topic that is very predictable, what if this conversation was LDS VS. Islam? each side listing their reasons for their validity and the others sins, each feeling the spirit and ready to die. who is right? both can be wrong but both cannot be right. It is repeated through history and the brain science of it has been studied. at some point a spade must be called a spade.
Not sure. Hundreds, possibly thousands are trying to escape.. I've heard rumors that lds leaders are concerned about people leaving. I believe church growth in the U.S. is flat to down. Possibly higher growth in the poor countries where very few have access to the facts.
Why did Alma not know when Christ was coming(Alma13:21-26) even though he possessed plates and Lehi and Nephi had written precisely when he would arrive? Why didn't Joseph Smith ever acknowledge using the KJV bible to "translate"?
At times being Mormon is really painful. I will never have a Temple Recommend because they can not figure out what to do with me. I am Intersex and Celibate.
John Lee And you say that on what authority? Look at Matt 19:12, and Isaiah 56:1-7. If you have a Bible take a moment to look that up. I actually don't need the Mormon church but they are better than a lot of them. I am comfortable for now. Heavenly Father has given me a room in HIS house and an Everlasting name that shall not be cut off. Deal with it.
+John Lee As a current member of the church, I'm appalled you could say anyone's soul is infected or a festering canker on the body of the church. Obviously he is a child of God as we all are, he is living in a way that follows the church's teachings, and I doubt it is bringing him much happiness if any at that. You are obviously not helping. The church would be better off without judgmental hypocrites like yourself. It's people like you that have made me realize that this couldn't be Christ's true church.
Mormons should not brag of piety and good works. Deeds and good works will never save anyone. It is by grace we are saved, not of works lest any Mormon should boast. Mormons do not trust Jesus. They follow and place trust in a prophet whose life was filled with many sins..
The 3rd article of faith is opposed to the good news. No one is righteous by law keeping or works. Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then [is it] no more of works: Joseph created a religion to raise men up to exaltation. His doctrines have taught the members to establish their own righteousness and deny the infinite glory of Jesus Christ. The lds priesthood has no power. The Cross and Grace are the power of God. Jesus is our high prophet and high priest.
That’s fine, gyxx; you just cited a couple of items that just don’t withstand scrutiny, so I responded. I’m fine with agreeing to disagree. If we can’t do that much, we’re both in a world of hurt.
Mormonism does not preach liberty in Christ. Mormonism preaches obedience to law, ordinance and money to merit eternal life. There were no weird lds rituals performed in the temple. The rituals performed in the temple were the sacrifice of animals to pay for sin, "that's it". The lds priesthood has no power because it's a counterfeit. The physical temple and Aaronic priesthood ended on the cross. There was one Melchezidec and his priesthood is not transferable. Joseph lied.
You have no say and you can't blame God. This is a fallen world filled with sin. No one is good, no not one. It is not by the will of man, but the gift of God. Mormons are not worthy by keeping the law and performing ordinance. "With men, it is impossible". Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world he sent his Son; those who believe that Jesus is "I Am" will live with Him throughout eternity. Calling Jesus a spirit brother is blasphemy.
god didnt send us down here for nothing jesus didnt come down here to only die for our sins he served others an taught us to do the same. this is to you an all christians out in the world ur view on doing works means that we should do nothing and not serve even though jesus served an serving was an never is ment for boasting
If you can answer honestly if heavenly father had a father I will see if you have the truth. So? Did he have a father? And after that I will ask you another,
Dee F. Green, Mormon archaeologist, Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Summer 1969, pp. 77-78. Like I said, your beliefs are stronger than facts, Mormonims is false, you may want it to be, you want to love God by trying to prove the BOM true, or your prophet Joseph smith, but the fact is that your faith was formed by a man who could have taken your wife and said it was God who told him to do it and try to convince you meanwhile he takes your wife, want proof of that too?
Well, considering that after 21 years of research, I've never come across an instance of the Church changing what is and is not considered sin, I'd be fascinated to hear your examples. As for the names you mentioned, McConkie's book was published without Church approval and was immediately denounced. i'm not aware of any of the others, you mention, having written anything like that. Again, care to explain yourself? Thanks!
This honestly disturbs me... The LDS Church has "tryouts" in order to get the most persuasive seminary teachers...? I was born and raised in the LDS church, but I had no idea this occured. The church "calls" thousands of missionaries to go all over the world "by the spirit", but has "tryouts" for seminary teachers... I guess it's important to get them while their young.
And through prayer, the old men decide guided by The Holy Spirit to select a Pope....But believe whatever you want to...It doesn't matter to me. That's on you. So if your mormon...Stop calling yourself Christian.Nothing could be farther from the truth. And thank Catholic for giving you any form of bible you use. I'm sure scripture will be shredded by false faiths as it has been since the Reformation.
First of all, 2 Nephi 12:7 is a Bible quote, so that’s irrelevant. More to the point, though, who said anything about wheeled chariots? Plenty of civilizations had chariots without wheels.
Perhaps you don't like what some people say. Many (including me) watched the video as a kind of catharsis, we could relate to the experiences of the couple. Some people who leave the church may "hate" it but not all, hate is a strong accusation. Here's a bit of truth for you to consider about your response: "...If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well." (Matthew 5: 38-40).
Yeap, the "widows son" was essentially on his own that fatal day; his deeds came full circle. I would like to ask, what's your opinion on lds numbers; are they losing adult members?
gyxx11, I appreciate your position as well, but believe me, I’ve spent a LOT of time studying both sides of the story. I’ve scoured the dimly-lit stacks of liberal academia and studied the century-old exposés on “Mormonism” and its sins. I’ve read volumes of counter-cultist allegations and the scholarly responses thereunto (and the scholarly responses to those). In short, I think I have a pretty good background, and while I’m always happy to lean something new, this isn’t something new. Thanks!
Also, please remember: "And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 22: 37-40.
The BOM is NOT true, neither God said it was true, and I'll show you why. Here are the evidence Joseph used the King James Bible instead of ancient Nephite plates when quoting Old Testament. It is an undeniable fact that the Book of Mormon quotes the Bible. This fact is acknowledged in the Book itself, in such phrases as '...now I, Nephi, write more of the words of Isaiah, for my soul delighteth in his words.' (II Nephi 11:2). The Book of Mormon contains extensive quotes from Isaiah - next
I feel like John and Brooke love God. But have been Exploited by the LDS church, They gave up their youth to climb some invisible ladder to be the Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman of the Church. It seems like each one of them have a personal spiritual need, and that they have been so busy with being Tom and Nicole that they missed they're whole life. They look haggard. I hope they find happiness. Time to process, and enjoy their gift of life. Gods Blessings!, where ever they go.
So, you are saying that Polygamy is still in the SLC Mormons? Why would you care? If you do not like it then don't do it. I'm from Islam and have studied OT religious history. I believe that under certain constraints that it is permissible. IE, a woman with little children, or abandoned women that are too old for childbearing.
as far as i was thought we preach the good news an we arent taught that we establish our own rightousness we just are taught to not be lazy an serve jesus sheep an do weird rituals like they did in the bible which we don't know all of the rituals that were done. if the lds priestood has no power then neither did the prophet of bible thats great not
…except for one thing: the Hebrew word for “horse” can also refer to people who work with horses, or in similar ways. In other words, a wheelless chariot would be inexorably tied to “horses.”
Archaeology says that wheels were not used for travel in Pre-Columbian America. The knowledge of the wheel for transportation may have been in existence but seems to be limited to the use in toys. If the Nephites and Lamanites used chariots, why wouldn't this extremely valuable idea continue to be used by the descendants of the Ancient Americans?
Nope. Finding truth is never bad. It may hurt at first, but anything that brings you closer to reality will bring you closer to society and people. We will continue learning and growing as a species and understanding what, why, and how we think and how easily we are manipulated and it will help us make the next generation even better and more loving.
There are several places where God frowns upon polygamy; the first one is Deuteronomy 17:17, where God says that kings are not to take multiple wives-a warning specifically to kings, because kings would be in a much better position to take multiple wives than the average person. So if the king must not, then the average man should not either. . In Paul’s letters in the New Testament, having more than one wife disqualified a person from leadership in the church next
Lashanda Rapp Yeah they are no longer together, a quick look at their facebook page shows that they divorced and the husband has remarried. The wife posed nude for a series of mormon women exposed shoots and runs a website called Cheeky Kitchen.
some twenty-two chapters of the prophet are found in the Book, in many cases quoted verbatim from the King James Version. The Book of Mormon also puts the Sermon on the Mount into the mouth of Jesus in III Nephi 12:3 and following. Again, the quote is almost verbatim from the King James Version, with a few more substantial changes, possibly to remove anachronistic references (although the author did not completely succeed in this endeavor.) And that's just the tip of the Iceberg.
Alma 18: 9 And they said unto him: Behold, he is feeding thy horses. Now the king had commanded his servants, previous to the time of the watering of their flocks, that they should prepare his horses and chariots, and conduct him forth to the land of Nephi; for there had been a great feast appointed at the land of Nephi, by the father of Lamoni, who was king over all the land. So! I don't see the king saying to his servents he was to get his horses to work as an in your statement.
Denouncement of Joseph Smith would destroy the church. That will not happen. Multiple prophets have said the church rises or falls on whether Joseph Smith is a prophet. I do foresee reforms as the church strives to become more "mainstream" but not to the extent of denouncing Smith.
BOM animals. Horses. cattle, oxen, donkeys,, goats and wild goats (1 Nephi 18:25) Horses are mentioned fourteen times in the Book of Mormon, and are portrayed as an integral part of the cultures described. There is no evidence that horses existed on the American continent during the 2500-3000 year history of the Book of Mormon (2500 B.C. - 400 A.D.) Horses evolved in North America, but became extinct at the end of the ---
Sorry to hear about your brothers, Michael, but to be fair, I’m guessing very few people know about all the charges brought against Joseph Smith. Regarding your specific charge, there are two sides to every story, and obviously all the participants in the situation you describe are long dead and can no longer defend themselves. That’s part of the reason why, while the details of people’s lives are certainly interesting, they have very little bearing on my feelings about the Church itself.
and THAT would *ONLY* have to happen about a 100 thousand times to begin to rival the amount of scandal in MORmON founder PERVERT Joseph Smith's life and *ministry* . You can do a big Homer Simpson style "DOOOOOOOOOOHHH !" now ! MORmON !
***** I'd like to know your source of information on that. I understand that they did get divorced sometimes in 2012. Brooke (now Brooke Lark) runs a kitchen blog called Cheeky Kitchen and in her biography mentions that her husband asked for a divorce. You say she was unfaithful?
genexrollins You mean Solomon or David, with their NUMEROUS wives? Evangelical "Christians" are the biggest hypocrites, they love to trash Joseph Smith but forget, the founders of the faith: Abraham, Jacob, Moses, etc. all had multiple wives, spoke to angels and had visions, all that Joseph did. Go read your Bible.
Man of Israel Oh, you want to talk about polygamy, the thing that fractured the kingdom of Israel and that only a MORmON god would ever allow or demand of his people at this point in time. Too bad for you that anybody who really knows anything knows that Joe Smith really committed adultery and mislabeled it as polygamy as a cover = one more MORmON lie among so many of Smith's falsehoods, So you can just drop your stupid ass MORmON LIES and confusion right NOW as an attempt to defend your sick pervert MORmON founder and your ultra STUPID MORmON religion. ONLY a MORmON would buy that Garbage ,and I AINT a MORmON ! I DID read the bible, enough that I read about this Jesus character who came to do away with the law of Moses that allowed things like polygamy. Thanks for demonstrating how you MORmONS do not know the bible, do not really accept the New Testament Messiah, and you love to call other people hypocrites in your desperately insane and lame attempts to justify your insanely LAME MORmON religion while you are really the biggest and most ignorant hypocrites of all.
You are establishing your own righteousness with every bishops interview. You must accept Joseph and Monson as prophets, admit the book of Mormon and church are true. If you agree to all of the bishops questions you are found worthy to receive a new calling or temple recommend. The infinite glory and grace of Jesus Christ are never mentioned.
why is it blasphemy god sent his son u said it yourself an god is our father. there is good people but not perfect people. what am i blaming god about?
What an amazing story. John and Brooke are truly stalwart. Thank you for sharing this very touching series of events.
Or, try to find out why they left, because it might free you too. If the church is true, it would stand up to scrutiny.
It is a very natural emotion to feel anger when one leaves. To know that the truth is obfuscated, that truth is misstated, that so many things we are told is lies. Yes, to feel anger and grief and shock is completely normal.
Or how about just telling people who leave, "Thank you for all your money and time spent". It is definitely strange.
It’s not the history that’s the problem; it’s that some people don’t do a balanced study.
joe smith really did it he has ruined millions of lives
make it millions minus one.
How can someone who was murdered over 100 years ago ruin lives today? Be a grown up and make good choices, be accountable for your own life.... smh

I really enjoyed their honesty and their frankly humble behavior.

Hey, Chinaculiacan. Not sure I understand your question. Are you suggesting that the knowledge of the wheel was lost, then came back? (There are certainly many technologies like that, but I wasn’t aware of the wheel being among them.)
Thanks!

What I LOVED about Mormonism was this highly developed level of compassion your words demonstrate--truely Christ-like and worthy of the LDS claim to being Christian.

Working and trying to keep the commandments will never please God. Eph 2:5 By grace we are saved through faith, Not of Works, lest any Mormon should boast. Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

(next)
OMG, I was just in the page, Fairmormon, and all I saw were just excuses, what in the world? doing is right then I don't think nothing will.
As long as you seek to find things that only support your position that is all you will ever find, the truth will forever evade you.

with apparent consummate ease, why did he suddenly abandon his divine gift in favor of a text that could not hope to be any more accurate? Further, as we have seen, the Isaiah text of the Book of Mormon often reflects the problems and shortcomings of the King James Version. This should not have been the case, if, as President Smith alleged "except for those differences indicated in the Nephite original. That makes sense. Temples much more important than the poor.
I don't like that the church is not true! I don't like all I've gone through because of it! I don't like what my kids have gone through because of it and I don't like thinking about all the time and money I've wasted on it! I know I will spend the rest of my life trying to sort it all out and I don't like it either!!
Add to that those of us who didn't marry and have children and now it's too late!!
The negative bias against single people is sickening. It's one of the reasons I left.
can you time stamp where they talk about this?

John Lee Lol, you are pathetic. You didn't even look those scriptures up did you? LOL

Here's one possible thought. "Morality is the basis of things and truth is the substance of all morality." (Gandhi)
That’s fine, gyxx; you just cited a couple of items that just don’t withstand scrutiny, so I responded. I’m fine with agreeing to disagree. If we can’t do that much, we’re both in a world of hurt.
Jeff Drake curious to see where you are with your faith 4 years later.

And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well." (Matthew 5: 38-40).

gyxx11, I appreciate your position as well, but believe me, I’ve spent a LOT of time studying both sides of the story. I’ve scoured the dimly-lit stacks of liberal academia and studied the century-old exposés on “Mormonism” and its sins. The BOM is NOT true, neither God said it was true, and I'll show you why. Here are the evidence Joseph used the King James Bible instead of ancient Nephite plates when quoting Old Testament. It is an undeniable fact that the Book of Mormon quotes the Bible. This fact is acknowledged in the Book itself, in such phrases as '...now I, Nephi, write more of the words of Isaiah, for my soul delighteth in his words.' (II Nephi 11:2). why is there so many verisons of the bible an with thousands of changes to them too?
Archaeology says that wheels were not used for travel in Pre-Columbian America. The knowledge of the wheel for transportation may have been in existence but seems to be limited to the use in toys. If the Nephites and Lamanites used chariots, why wouldn't this extremely valuable idea continue to be used by the descendants of the Ancient Americans?
Have I made a mistake? Finding out the truth?
So if the king must not, then the average man should not either. . In Paul’s letters in the New Testament, having more than one wife disqualified a person from leadership in the church next

some twenty-two chapters of the prophet are found in the Book, in many cases quoted verbatim from the King James Version.
I know the big guy is in control, I just hope he got a little thinking.

That’s a good point. So perhaps there were horses as we think of them, perhaps similar animals for which “horses” is the best descriptor.
Sure. I agree.
That’s part of the reason why, while the details of people’s lives are certainly interesting, they have very little bearing on my feelings about the Church itself.

and mislabeled it as polygamy as a cover = one more MORmON lie among so many of Smith's falsehoods, So you can just drop your stupid ass MORmON LIES and confusion right NOW as an attempt to defend your sick pervert MORmON founder and your ultra STUPID MORmON religion.
Please re-read the sermon on the mount.
@JosephSmithOneWife The exact same could be said for any church-sponsored video and interview.
Dehlin asking him to bear his testimony when he knows he didn't have it was creepy and makes me think he has a serious agenda.
