For every Zulu, every Xhosa, every Boer, every Englishman. For every man, woman and child in South Africa. I will raise a glass of klippies tonight and say "I am proud to be South African". Lets go Bokke win or lose I stand in awe of what you have accomplished. Well done.
As a New Zealander, whilst its always great to hear of the aura of the black jersey, what is unfortunately unheralded is the aura, in the collective Kiwi consciousness, of South Africa - the high veldt; Afrikaans; the Boer War, the contours of a colonial experience yet wholly different; the history of All Blacks teams practicing scrums on the decks of ships travelling for weeks across the Indian Ocean; and the sense of another nation which, aside from Wales, had rugby as intrinsic to its identity; and the sense of a poised and balanced rivalry. Even with the interconnectedness of the modern age, the resonances of that aura remain. What's most astonishing, almost magical really, is that through more than a century of tumult and upheaval, geopolitical change, Apartheid, post-apartheid, amateurism to professionalism and diversity - tests between the two nations are still preternaturally a toss of a coin. Aussies never come to the dressing room after a test, but Springboks do - and it seems to me that the tests are so momentous as occasions, that the teams want to share the catharsis afterward.
Beautifully put. Having had the privilege to have spent quite some time traveling in New Zealand as a young man from the South African Highveld, I can testify to a kindred spirit and sense of brotherhood between us. While rugby is its symbol, it definitely runs much deeper. God bless from South Africa 🇳🇿 🇿🇦 !
What a summary! Agree as a South Africa. There is an ethereal otherworldliness to this rivalry. It also comes out of a deep mutual love between the countries, we see each other as the frontier twins separated at birth from their English mother. Self reliant, tough.
Here in NZ the respect we have for the Springboks cannot be understated. We see them as the ultimate opponent for the All Blacks to really test themselves but the coolest thing is there’s no animosity in this rivalry just the biggest of respect for each other.
I have to say that whenever I have spent time around kiwis in the social events around our rugby rivalry, it has always been a total blast. Kiwi fans are the best sports and you all have a really sharp with and great sense of humor. Good luck to NZ and whoever takes the trophy, the fires will be going from 5 onwards anyways... so see you at the afterparty 😀
I am going to spend some time with this, because there is a deeper connection which few are aware of. I am from the little town of Despatch in the Eastern Cape where Rassie is from. We lived two streets away from the sports grounds where the Despatch rugby team practiced every Tuesday and Thursday evening, and the lights from the grounds would shine directly into my bedroom window. In those day I was at school with people like Danie Gerber and Pote Human, both who became big names in South African Rugby. But the connection is Despatch, and the passion that little town had for its rugby. There was an annual club competition being held called where Despatch would play against the best club teams in the country, such as Diggers from Johannesburg. Within the local area Despatch would regularly play against local clubs in Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage, such as Old Collegians (OUSHA!!!), Swifts, and Parks from PE. Those were wonderful days and in later years I also played for Despatch but only in the lower teams. I was a skinny lad. Some years later when I was in the Fire Department in Uitenhage we would also play against Despatch 3rds, and always got a hammering from them. But it was fun. However, it was the grounding of a love for the game, and this is, I firmly believe, the grounding for the love and passion that Rassie has for the game. Despatch was rugby, and rugby was Despatch. Here are the GPS coordinates of the rugby field where Rassie plied his trade in those early years: 33°48'5.45"S 25°27'11.53"E To see Rassie be the man that he is today, having outgrown the arrogant player he once was, is testimony to the love for the game and the background and culture that being a Despatcher brings. Those roots go deep. Tonight is going to be an epic game, and it will also be the story of the oukie from Despatch who made it.
One of the greatest stories shared my brother, I simply love the history of Despatch, you are so lucky to have that type of upbringing, hopefully tonight the lights will shine again on your window and the Despatch legacy will continue, Rassie have become one of the greatest South Africans ever to live and tonight we share such a great rival as the All Blacks, they are so humble and such awesome people and humans, only respect for them but tonight we calling on the Despatch culture to live up with its history, i think those co ordinates you gave was wrong it's should be 7/1, Go Rassie, Go Bokke, Go Despatch ❤
Brilliant! From Uitenhage originally & grew up watching those games at Swifts & OC fields. The whole town showed up on a Saturday afternoon especially when the Despatch legends were playing. Those were great days & great memories. Played against Rassie at school. What a class act he is.
As a 62 year South African woman who started watching school boy rugby to really watch the boys, I've been lucky enough to enjoy the big moments all along the way. Our last few games have aged me, no doubt, and yet i am bracing myself for a great final where my hope is for our beloved Bokke for a win, but regardless of the outcome, appreciate that rugby will be the winner regardless.
Thank you madame. You've helped me shed a few of those years after watching my beloved ABs team leading into and during this tournament to justify my great esteem and respect for the Bokke and people like yourself. In my 65 years l've met and befriended many a Bokke supporter that now live here in New Zealand. They too have offered many a kind words such as yours about this truly great rugby rivalry between the two nations.. God Bless.
As a Kiwi, the relationship between us and Sth Africa runs very deep. As a kid in 81 I remember the protests against the SA tour, learning from the elders about the history and importance that rugby had and how hard it was to win in SA and the whole reason there were protests. I remember the joy when SA came back to NZ in 94 and Otago beat the Springboks and hurt of the 95 RWC final. There is well earned respect for their team and victory is never easy.
It is always a clash of titans. The 2 teams were made to test each other, and on the sideline us as fans can only have a party and cheer together. May the best team win, and may the losing team buy the first round afterwards.
That win was well deserved. Back in the day when the Springboks went on tour they would award a mounted springbok stuffed head to a club that beat them and I remember my dad reading the newspaper and telling me as a youngster the history and that they presented one to Otago after that match.
I think the rivalry was best explained by Richie McCaw - after a brutal test against the Boks a few years ago, he said that Schalk Burger came up to him, shook his hand and said “Richie, why the hell do we keep doing this to each other?” The relationship is one that’s built on absolute respect. Both teams know how dangerous the other is, and both teams have almost always held the top spots in world rugby. We love to play each other but hate it at the same time because of how much of a headache the other is.
As a South African,I am so happy that Springbok supporters and All Black supporters have not trash talked each other. Good luck All Blacks and good luck Springboks. May the best team win.❤
I’m neither fan, so trash talk I’ll give you, however it’s not trash if it’s true! So I hope SA absolutely destroy the All Twats, they need some humility and there’s no better person out there than Kolisi to show them what the opposite of arrogance is! Bunch of plonkers!
@@theneutral1164 Thanks, mate - you've just provided a perfect example of the kind of poor sportsmanship many fans from other countries have shown during this RWC. 😭
@@tiomiguel999 I’m not your mate, and poor sportsmanship you generally find on those dreadful 2 islands called New Zealand where they produce the worlds greatest All Twat arrogant plonkers. Somebody tried exporting some humility but they just sent it back, can’t even find it in the “DICKtionary” there!
Tim you are the best my guy, you had me glued at your analysis and pre and post match breakdown. Hands down the best podcast to listen to any time of the day or night. Will miss you after the World cup chap, but will continue to follow your doings... In terms of humility, skill level, contribution to the game of rugby and bringing people od all races and genders together, the All Black's and Springboks are most deservant and you can bet both teams will bring it on tonight. As a South African I love my Country, I love the Springboks and there can never be bigger than AB's and Springboks. Enjoy lads and as Tim said, may the best team win!
First of all, THANK YOU for your unbiased commentary on this journey. It has been a privilege listening to you. We can feel your joy and passion for this wonderful sport. As a South African, OF COURSE I want SA to take it home. However, if the AB do, I cannot think of a better team to do so. ❤ Both SA and NZ rugby have enormous respect for one another. I would Go so far as to say it is in our DNA. Good luck to SA & NZ. They both deserve to be here. South Africa as a nation is literally bouncing off the walls with excitement. The energy is electrifying. ENJOY. We shall see you on the other side. ❤❤❤
As a South African, I've appreciated the tours you've done. It's a nice change. Especially for those of us who can't afford to fly to France to watch the RWC.
As a South African I just want to say good luck to all of the players tonight, to both NZ and SA, we know you'll put it all out on the field and your nations are behind you.
Thanks Tim for all your reports. I've thoroughly enjoyed your channel. Englishman here living in South Africa supporting the Boks. Looking forward to a great game hope we win by more than 1 point this week!
I was on the field at the 95 final, as a student playing a drum on the field for the closing ceremony of that epic AB vs Boks game. What that win did for our country. AB and Boks have a bromance off the field, but go into beast mode against each other on the field. Huge respect between the two teams.
@@EggchasersRugby I forgot to mention, on the Thursday before the match on Sat, we were rehearsing at Ellis Park and we saw one man all alone on the field practicing drop goals over the posts. It was Joel Stransky, and he was nailing every single kick. All of us who saw it said, the winning point will be a drop goal.😉
Thanks, Tim - from a Bokke fan in Venlo, the Netherlands . Thank you for all your musings ❤ This has been the most unbelievable ride so far - may the best team win tonight .
Just read the comments, Tim. No other rugby content creator can boast this type of vibe. Not the ultrasmooth, high cost RugbyPass, not the ultraanalytical Squidge or the deep Kiwi of Hakatime, nor the passion of WildKard. just you. No crew, no cost ... just heart. Thank you. Proud to be a Bok fan and now proud to be a part of the community you created, where true rugby fans of all jerseys can come together,
You’re right about the vibe on this channel. It does indeed seem to attract proper rugby people who don’t blame everything on the referee, that respect all the teams even while passionate their own. Tim creates the vibe with his fair and knowledgeable content.
Big gratitude shout out to you, Tim! I LOVE your passion, integrity and zest for both rugby and life! It's been an absolute informative joy to take this rugby world cup ride along side you. I've learned so much. As an Irish rugby supporter it was a sad, sad end for our run, but what a run it was!!! Can't wait for more adventures with you here on Eggchaser!! Keep these vids a'comin'! xx Nancy in Toronto Canada. 💚🏉🙏🏽
Nancy...thank you! Means a lot. And great to have your support. I hope Ireland continue to be as entertaining as they have been AND that Canada get back where they belong.
Just listening to you Tim speak like this about my country, my tears just broke, I couldn't hold them. What you've just said about South Africa touched me. You took me back where I come from as a black kid. Thank you my good sir. I can't imagine what the springboks will do to us as a nation if they cross the line tonight. Thank you my good good sir once again.
Reading some of the comments I really don't have much to add but for your genuinely outstanding contribution to make this journey so very special. Thank you Tim, your sincerity and genuine passion for our game shines through. Brilliant!
Older than most - my first memory as a nipper was going to the All Blacks Springbok test in Christchurch in 1956!! Have loved the combat between these two teams ever since. Can't wait for tomorrow and may the best team on the day win. I'm sure the boys will enjoy their beer together after the game.
Congratulations Paul. You beat me by 4years.Saw my first SA v NZ test in 1960 at Ellis Park.Since followed all of them either by radio TV or in person.Enjoy the final.
Love your channel and personality Tim. You deserve the success you’ve had covering the World Cup in 2023. All the best! Cape Town 🇿🇦 Go Bokke! Mayibuye (bring it 🏆 back home)
This is such an amazingly empathic presentation. Among sports journalists you are remarkable , not only because of your excellent analytical skills, but especially because of your insights into the psycho-social context of rugby in general and this game in particular.
Thank you Tim for being balanced and unbiased. I watched a few of the Ireland commentators and the way they were talking about the All Black's before the quarter final was a little bit annoying. So relieved that Sam Cane and the team set the record straight. Bring some balance back, even if you have beaten the All Blacks a few times, do not write them off.
Tim, you have helped to make the World Cup so much more enjoyable and I love the fact that you understand exactly what winning tonight would mean to SA as a country. Please come and visit us. 🇿🇦 ♥
Tim...please thank your wife and kids for allowing you to follow your passion of rugby. We, as your fans benefit from that like you dont know. You have made watching rugby and recently, WCR, special. Before and after each game I sY what does Tim ar Egg Chasers have to say. Your style of presentation is on such a personal level that we can relate to. You give history, stats, perspective, questions to think about, fun comments, game analysis, rugby as a game, issues about players, refs, selection, coaches, fans..not the stereo type broadcasting like so many others ...all this because of your love and passion of the sport called rugby that you share in such an entertaining way. Thank you !!! SA by 1 point😂 the only team to win by 1 in the quarters, semi and final🎉
🏉I remember back in the late 1950s when as kids we would watch our parents gather around the valve radio late at night in a small coastal village in NZ listening to the revered Springbok team of that era coached by the great Danie Craven. Those 'Bok teams of the 1950s & 60s were titans of the game, the clashes with the All Blacks were the ultimate. So, yes I'm ancient now but still looking forward immensely for tonight's grandfinal. Love your work on this TH-cam channel, interviews of the fans after games is a highlight..cheers ✅🏉🏉
Big Thank you from New Zealand Tim. I have really enjoyed this RWC, especially since the All Black's took out the QF. After the loss to France, we were stressed about the ABs making it out of the pools. It's great to see the ABs peaking at the right time(learnt the hard way in 2007). I have always been a fan of Sam Cane. So pleased that Cane is getting the praise he deserves. I especially love the way Cane handled the negative comments from Peter omahony. Watching Cane, Ardie Savea and Frizell work together on the field and really make a huge impact on game. That has been special. I noticed in the comments before the Ireland game, that is was the South African fans saying not to underestimate the All Black's. Just shows how well the SA fans know the ABs. And I love the respect there is between New Zealand and South Africa(like a sibling relationship) teams. It's going to be a great game (8am here in New Zealand). Hope there are no major injuries. My guess is the All Black's win by 4.
Deepest gratitude to you Tim for your selfless contribution to this RWC! You made it all so much more enjoyable to every honest fan all over the world. You have put yourself into a corner: you have spoilt us and we now hope you will keep covering international rugby, and reap the rewards!
As a kiwi my memories of our rivalry include the flour bomb test, the rise of Lomu, Mandela handing Francois the 95 RWC trophy and sharing these words: “Francois, thank you for what you have done for the country,” to which Francois Pienaar replied, “No, Mr. Mandela, thank you for what you have done for the country.”, Fitzpatrick on his knees thumping the ground the following year to take SA in a series on SA soil, the Boks record of 5 straight wins against England at RWC’s without conceding a try, and among many other memorable moments for me the impact of Richie McCaw and his 77% success rate in 26 tests against South Africa. Let’s go. May our rivalry and respect never fade.
Thank you again for this great channel. I really hope I can see you tonight and thank you with a fresh beer. Whoever wins. 🇫🇷 is out and I am so sad as I have been looking forward to this rwc since 6th Nation last year, thinking this was it, at last. I would put a penny on 🇳🇿, also because 🇿🇦 has been our nightmare since 1995 and that semifinal that still hurts so much, but whoever wins will be the greatest indeed. Until next time. See you Tim 🤞🏻
Thanks Mark. It was hell of a journey with you and and Mark Phillpot (a Kiwi from Mexico), Haka time rugby with Zac and our own Keo and Zels. Keep well and please continue.
As an Irish fan thank you for your analysis very professional job on all the games . All that is left now is the final . I would like to see a great game of Rugby to finish off . Take care & stay healthy .
Hi Tim, I’m thrilled for Fozzie and Cane to make this final, and I expect the team will really want to put in a performance to get them over the line. There’ll be no shame in defeat to this great Bok side, so looking forward to it
Tim, thanks for your incredible coverage of the last 7 weeks in France. It was fun experiencing the sights and sounds with you. Your incredibly passion for the game and wonderfully unbiased commentary is what has taken this channel to new heights and long may it continue. The anticipation is palpable here in SA this morning. Listening to Leon Schuster's old Hier Kommie Bokke album with my kids today brings back those childhood memories of '95 when last these 2 teams met in the final. The fans of these 2 teams have rugby in their bones, brought about by a lifetime of special experiences in and around the game, etched into our memories from childhood. May the best team win. I hope it is the Boks today!
Definitely the greatest rivalry in sporting history. And I'm pretty damn sure it's not going anywhere soon. Massive respect to the All Blacks. What an incredible team and they are still more consistent than us. But as a kid my dad use to basically scream and call me to say the All Blacks are doing the Haka and we had the tv almost full volume. It was the best thing ever. I hope this rivalry never ends.
Thank you sir. You have been one of a very few pundits - professional ones on TV included - that I have really enjoyed! Interesting side note. Apparently, and this is in the media, our Minister of Sport has been in conversations with Rassie to become involved and try to instill the same values and pride in our national soccer team. That is how much value there is placed in the accomplishments of this Springbok team. In closing, yes, well deserved and thorough respect between SA and NZ rugby. Always a privilege and joy to watch these games...
Everybody in chat is respectful because of how respectful you are. Best rugby channel right now and can't thank you enough for being part of me and my daughter's world cup rugby journey. You deserve how much the channel's grown. From two springbok fans who live in England, thanks so much for your content.
Tim, a thousand bows for an unbeatable show!; your historical knowledge of the game and passion shine through. With free spot-on educational statistics and interesting commentary, I wouldn't be surprised to see this on Netflix as a docuseries!
Well done Tim! Great unbiased coverage. True about the legacy for both teams. You have cemented the case for the death of the screeching mainstream elite media. We would all rather listen to coverage like yours. Siya Kolisi for president! Goooo Bokke! 🤙🇿🇦🇿🇦🏋️🇿🇦🇿🇦🤙
Thank you so much Tim for bringing us closer to the venue. It is through your channel that some of us get to see France beyond the rugby stadium. Keep doing the good work mate
Thanks Tim. Have really looked forward to all your posts during the world cup. I'm hoping for a springbok win but if the All Blacks do win I have peace because they are a great rugby nation that always provides very exciting rugby.
Cheers for the content Tim, been a pleasure to follow along on your WC adventure and experience it though your channel. Have a great night at the Final.
Thank you so much for your channel throughout the tournament. Your passion for the game, win or lose, is a true and honest trait that has shone in your analysis of every game. Enjoyed your viewpoints as a rugby fan and yes, may Rugby be the true winner of the game. From NZ.
Waxing philosophical this morning, Tim! Some nice words and insights as always, there is so much history between NZ and SA. Internally and externally it is our shared love and passion. I had to pull the blacks on this morning and go for a long run to get some of the energy out. Wherever we are across the world, kiwis and bokkes will be feeling like they’re running out onto the paddock in Paris tonight. When we see those boys in our respective colors we feel pride, honor, and yes you said it many times - respect. Can’t wait for this final contest. Sent from All Black HQ in sunny NYC.
Thanks for the amazing content..Yes, the rivalry is a healthy one...no animosity towards each other. There's deep admiration. Before television, my grandparents listened to the Springboks and All Blacks matches on the radio..I'm proudly South African and supporting the Boks ..Our country right now is so proud of this team right . Good luck to both teams.. Much love to the All Blacks
You're so right about our sport of Rugby. Back in the 80's when my son wanted to travel the world I told him , wherever he was to go the local rugby club. He did and found accommodation, jobs and friendships wherever he went !
A big thanks to you Tim. You’ve been simply fantastic and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed listening to you throughout the WC. Will be at the game tonight with my wife and two young daughters. As die hard Boks fans the nerves have kicked in for us all and we look forward to game. Go Bokke 🇿🇦🇿🇦🏉🏉
You gained a South African supporter of the All Blacks as a subscriber. Thank you for the amazing work on the channel. Hop you grow more and more. We are here in the final. What a big occasion, history for us all to witness tonight.
Thank you Tim, thank you Tim, we dont say it often enough, thank you Tim, may your family be blessed, you be blessed, and your channel be blessed, and grow from strength to strength
Slight error at 5:36, it was David Kirk who lifted the trophy in '87. Sean Fitzpatrick was actually only playing because the original Hooker and squad captain Andy Dalton was injured and didn't play a game during the start of the world cup. By the end however, probably couldn't keep Fitzy off the team.
Thanks for all your superb and unbiased commentary during the course of this world cup. It is wonderful to listen to someone who just loves the game as much as I do. I am a Springbok supporter but never mind whether we win or lose as long as I can be entertained with a great game for 80 minutes. Always enjoy our battles with the All Blacks, such a lot of respect for their talent and passion for the game. I have listened to several You Tube channel commentators, however yours is the only one that I have subscribed to. Thanks again for bringing so much insight and passion to the game.
I admit I'm incredibly jealous of you and all those that can be there this evening, but huge thanks for bringing the atmosphere and hype to all of us watching from home!!
A great WC from your Eggchasers channel mate. Disappointed that Scotland got stitched in the group stage, however, you've made a huge amount of fans with your honest and unbiased reporting. Thank you.
You absolutely have a community here, so it would be good to nurture it. Good luck with it! Thanks for your entertaining, enthusiastic, real reporting.
Let me Tell you First Hand From South Africa 🇿🇦 is it is completely Magical seeing everyone wishing The Springboks well so Good for Our Country Thanks Tim 👍🇿🇦💪🏉 like NO Other Game I will See again since 1995 South Africans supporters for New Zealand 🇳🇿 As well walking around in South Africa 🇿🇦 that is What Makes Us The Greatest Country in the world 🌍
I cant put it into words exactly, but when i watch our men stand together Infront of the Haka, in our green and gold and their black jerseys, It just always is the biggest game, it always means the most, its always the one we want to win. They are our greatest rival, and that inherently makes them team we respect and admire the most. Good luck to our boks, we love you boys, you can do it, Msanzi
Love and respect the AB's so much. As a Saffa obviously we want our team to win. But if we don't, it is no shame to bow out to our old foe and great rival. Thank you so much for your great takes on the greatest game in the world!
It's always a shame to lose, and I don't care if it's against the All Blacks. I don't like that mindset of "it's okay to lose against the All Blacks." No, it isn't okay. That's not a winner's mindset.
@@taaniadyzel9756I bet you don’t get invited to many so you wouldn’t know. Nothing worse than losing to the All Twats no matter where you are from, because you’ll get drowned by arrogance! I hope they get battered by SA

Thank you so much for your content Tim. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be on this journey with you. Thank you for bringing us along and have a fantastic evening.
I just want to say, I've followed you before the World Cup and would rather listen to you, than other pundit podcasts etc. You talk about this great game in the way normal fans and more importantly non rugby people understand. You're the best, enjoy the final!!

Great job Tim to you and the team from New Zealand . Have enjoyed your content and open views . I think you have evolved as the tournament has progressed . Much respect to the Springboks . Let's go the Mighty All Blacks for life !
Your passion and enthusiasm is infectious. It's bit sad that it's coming to end. How epic has this world cup been. From heading to Bordeaux from Ireland to glorious heat in camper. To coming back to the quarter finals to Paris to freezing cold. Been some journey . The craic we had is unforgettable. And new friends iv made. Not going to lie , but I'm still not over Ireland, been knocked out, and do think it's less of spectacle with out either us or France in it. But that's life. And we'll done SA and Nz.

I am going to spend some time with this, because there is a deeper connection which few are aware of. I am from the little town of Despatch in the Eastern Cape where Rassie is from.
Well said!
I'm supporting the Boks just on the basis on this comment.
God Bless.
@teevis3620 a brilliant game. Hats off to NZ! Happy heart though for the Bokke, our country needed this victory. See you in the next cup NZ
Best rugby media on the internet. Thank you Tim for your coverage 🙌
thank YOU for watching
As a Kiwi, the relationship between us and Sth Africa runs very deep. As a kid in 81 I remember the protests against the SA tour, learning from the elders about the history and importance that rugby had and how hard it was to win in SA and the whole reason there were protests. I remember the joy when SA came back to NZ in 94 and Otago beat the Springboks and hurt of the 95 RWC final. There is well earned respect for their team and victory is never easy.
Feeling is mutual mate
It is always a clash of titans. The 2 teams were made to test each other, and on the sideline us as fans can only have a party and cheer together. May the best team win, and may the losing team buy the first round afterwards.
That win was well deserved. Back in the day when the Springboks went on tour they would award a mounted springbok stuffed head to a club that beat them and I remember my dad reading the newspaper and telling me as a youngster the history and that they presented one to Otago after that match.
I think the rivalry was best explained by Richie McCaw - after a brutal test against the Boks a few years ago, he said that Schalk Burger came up to him, shook his hand and said “Richie, why the hell do we keep doing this to each other?”
The relationship is one that’s built on absolute respect. Both teams know how dangerous the other is, and both teams have almost always held the top spots in world rugby. We love to play each other but hate it at the same time because of how much of a headache the other is.
Schalk's words sum it up!!! Brutal on the field... laughs and a beer afterwards! Epic, epic, epic!
🤣 ... oh yeaaaah .
Them bloody Bokke 🍻
Hard bro,,, If you Springboks wins again, a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you and your Team... All Blacks Fan... 👍😎🏆
Back at you Bokke 🍻
Tim you are the best my guy, you had me glued at your analysis and pre and post match breakdown. Hands down the best podcast to listen to any time of the day or night. Will miss you after the World cup chap, but will continue to follow your doings... In terms of humility, skill level, contribution to the game of rugby and bringing people od all races and genders together, the All Black's and Springboks are most deservant and you can bet both teams will bring it on tonight. As a South African I love my Country, I love the Springboks and there can never be bigger than AB's and Springboks. Enjoy lads and as Tim said, may the best team win!
What a classy human being. Depth, passion, gratitude.
First of all, THANK YOU for your unbiased commentary on this journey. It has been a privilege listening to you. We can feel your joy and passion for this wonderful sport.
As a South African, OF COURSE I want SA to take it home.
However, if the AB do, I cannot think of a better team to do so. ❤
Both SA and NZ rugby have enormous respect for one another. I would Go so far as to say it is in our DNA.
Good luck to SA & NZ. They both deserve to be here.
South Africa as a nation is literally bouncing off the walls with excitement. The energy is electrifying.
ENJOY. We shall see you on the other side. ❤❤❤
Greetings from Johannesburg. Love your commentary and content. Neutral, professional, and fair. Can't wait for what's next!
Top man! Appreciate the support
All we can hope for is that the Wayne Barnes dont mess up a good game 🎉
Thanks Tim for all your reports. I've thoroughly enjoyed your channel. Englishman here living in South Africa supporting the Boks. Looking forward to a great game hope we win by more than 1 point this week!
I was on the field at the 95 final, as a student playing a drum on the field for the closing ceremony of that epic AB vs Boks game. What that win did for our country. AB and Boks have a bromance off the field, but go into beast mode against each other on the field. Huge respect between the two teams.
Wow!
Love it! When the bromancers go into beast mode, we have a spectacle!
Thanks Tim, you've done a great job engaging all fans from all teams. Best of luck going forward
Thank you Martin...that's such a lovely gesture. Been a privilege to be honest
Brilliant!
Tim, what a journey, mate. You've shared every game with us, shared all the bokke close calls with us..thank you my friend 🇿🇦❤️💪🏾
Older than most - my first memory as a nipper was going to the All Blacks Springbok test in Christchurch in 1956!! Have loved the combat between these two teams ever since. Can't wait for tomorrow and may the best team on the day win. I'm sure the boys will enjoy their beer together after the game.
Respect. Blessings from South Africa.
Congratulations Paul. You beat me by 4years.Saw my first SA v NZ test in 1960 at Ellis Park.Since followed all of them either by radio TV or in person.Enjoy the final.
That was the first test series the Boks lost, home or away, in the 20th century.
Love your channel and personality Tim. You deserve the success you’ve had covering the World Cup in 2023. All the best! Cape Town 🇿🇦
Go Bokke! Mayibuye (bring it 🏆 back home)
As a SAFFA supporter, I just love your unbiased podcast.Best of luck to both teams tonight.🎉
This is such an amazingly empathic presentation.
Among sports journalists you are remarkable , not only because of your excellent analytical skills, but especially because of your insights into the psycho-social context of rugby in general and this game in particular.
Rugby is a way of life
As a Bok fan based in England I have enjoyed your stories and balanced, authentic perspectives over the course of the world cup. Well done 🍻
Tim, thank you so much for all your amazing coverage over the last couple of months. It has been a pleasure . keep your channel going ❤
***APOLOGIES TO DAVID KIRK...NZL CAPTAIN IN 1987, NOT SEAN FITZPATRICK.***
Ha. I jumped onto the comments to correct you on that. Good to see you're quick on the jackal there.
Or as his official name was in NZ media at the time. "Rhodes scholar David Kirk."
Tim, you have helped to make the World Cup so much more enjoyable and I love the fact that you understand exactly what winning tonight would mean to SA as a country. Please come and visit us. 🇿🇦 ♥
This Egg Chaser Rugby channel has really been amazing throughout this world thank you. Have really enjoyed it.
Late night radio rugby or cricket games. There is no better childhood memory for me.
Your channel has been amazing mate loved the unbiased commentary throughout this whole year
Big Thank you from New Zealand Tim.
Correct assessment. Just think that if Boks have beaten Ireland or the ABs beaten France then one of us would not have made the finals.
You're so right...SA was the one group NOT writing NZL off
Thank you Tim for your incredible work in this world cup. May the best team win. From a Teros fan from Uruguay. 🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾
You have entertained me from start to finish...
Thank you for doing this...
A most respectful rivalry...
🇿🇦
I'm an AB's sup[porter living in NYC-started following you during the World Cup this year-LOVE your content. THANK YOU TIM!
Deepest gratitude to you Tim for your selfless contribution to this RWC! You made it all so much more enjoyable to every honest fan all over the world. You have put yourself into a corner: you have spoilt us and we now hope you will keep covering international rugby, and reap the rewards!
You have been my go to, for unbiased informative information and content through the world cup. I will keep on following you!! Thank you. Go Bokke.
We love you Tim, loved the journey with you. Enjoy today, please give us more updates during the day😊
The best pregame commentary yet from Tim. Speaks to the heart of rugby. Bravo mate.
Thanks Tim. Loved your content since before the WC. Such unbiased and well informed commentary. All the best going forward 🎉
Thank you Tim, your coverage has been absolutely brilliant. Balanced, insightful and generates respect between fans.
Thanks Mark. It was hell of a journey with you and and Mark Phillpot (a Kiwi from Mexico), Haka time rugby with Zac and our own Keo and Zels. Keep well and please continue.
You bet. You've put me in great company there
Tim thanks for all the content! You’re a legend 🇿🇦
Thanks Tim have loved being on your journey with you, from the first report showing us around the camper van . Enjoy the Final !
Very unbiased, that's Tim gift.
Thank you so much Tim for bringing us closer to the venue. It is through your channel that some of us get to see France beyond the rugby stadium. Keep doing the good work mate
Tim is the best rugby content creator by far. I'm going to Australia 2027 and this man has singlehandedly inspired that.
Thanks Tim. Have really looked forward to all your posts during the world cup. I'm hoping for a springbok win but if the All Blacks do win I have peace because they are a great rugby nation that always provides very exciting rugby.
Albert...such a kind gesture. Not required or expected...but received with thanks x
Cheers for the content Tim, been a pleasure to follow along on your WC adventure and experience it though your channel. Have a great night at the Final.
REALLY appreciate that. And best of luck to your boys..some story if they win.
Love your work Bro - from Kzn, SA
Such a great authentic communicator. Thank you
You're so right about our sport of Rugby.
What a great channel to have followed throughout the world cup. Simply put: thank you!
Cheers Tim, enjoy the final. Really enjoyed watching your videos this RWC. Appreciate your honesty and balance, along with your passion for the game.
You are so right about the way we as South Africans view the All Blacks.
Love them and the sport.
Thank you Tim for the content. You have been wonderful.
Thank you.
Excellent coverage Tim really enjoyed been part of your WC journey. Enjoy the game and May the best team win. Come on the Boks
Absolutely enjoyed your RWC journey. Wonderful ambassador for the sport
Wonderful work, it's been a pleasure. Thanks for your coverage 🙏🏽
A big part of this world cup has been watching these videos and I'll for sure continue to watch this channel after it ends. Thanks Tim!

You have built yourself a very solid fanbase already Tim.
Congrats man! Very few are capable of doing that. ❤
No, it's not ok to loose.
We don't play to loose, we are the SPRINGBOKS.

My favourite rugby channel. Only came across it at the beginning of the World Cup. It beats all others - including the pro channels with studios and ex-players turned pundits - hands down. Well done Tim. Keep on keeping' on!
Thank you so much for your content Tim. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be on this journey with you. Thank you for bringing us along and have a fantastic evening.
Thanks Tim. You've become my favorite rugby commentator over the past few weeks. Your love for the game is inspiring. Keep it up!
Thanx Tim for a great show,by far the best show on u tube.
From a springbok supporter.
May god bless you and your family.
Tim, it’s been great sharing your journey. Thanks so much.
I just want to say, I've followed you before the World Cup and would rather listen to you, than other pundit podcasts etc. You talk about this great game in the way normal fans and more importantly non rugby people understand.
You're the best, enjoy the final!!
Tim thank you so much for making a great World Cup even better. Thanks to you Tim you have brought all nations together. As an Irish man: Go raibh míle maith agat
Great job Tim to you and the team from New Zealand .
Have enjoyed your content and open views .
I think you have evolved as the tournament has progressed .
Much respect to the Springboks .
Let's go the Mighty All Blacks for life !
Got nothing else to say but keep doing what you doing Tim. Great channel. From a Saffa
You bet!
Thanks Tim , without the coverage the tournament wouldn't have been as enjoyable.
Enjoy tonight ! Both the game and after.
Love these videos! GO the AB’s!!! What a World Cup!!! Epic!!!
Thank you Eggchasers for your content!! Looking forward to many more videos!!
