Sup yall! (YAAAY, no no uploading for more than three weeks haha, and finally posting on a Sunday again). I'm advancing in the Nu Pogodi episodes slowly but surely :)

For your question "what doing the hippo?" (5:12 this video). This is so-called "gorodki" (literally translation - "small towns") - the old Russian national game. Rules of that game is very simple. Just make a special figure with little wooden sticks, than smash it with a hurling club. The figure, which builds and trying smash the hippo, is so-called "pushka" (a cannon).

Which is repeatedly implied throughout the whole saga; just watch every episode from 1 to 22 intently one by one, you'll get plenty of proofs. For example, these 'superpowers', and nothing else, DID luckily save the Wolf's life, when, minutes earlier, he fell from the whole height of the big stadium... Even every bone of him turned out intact... The Wolf himself is well-aware of some unusual abilities of his own organism, so he hoped that these abilities would help him to LOOK strong and sportsman-like and to STILL lift the full barbell, even though the full barbell is, obviously, far beyond his PURELY PHYSICAL strength. The official lore says that this Wolf has surprisingly strong TENDONS, but his MUSCLES are tragically weak, he never works out, he's a lazy (and almost idle) petty criminal, former trade-fleet sailor, heavy smoker, heavy drinker (mostly beer alcoholic)... Look at his weak 'beer' belly! But, as I said, the Wolf, being pretty vain, badly hoped that his 'kinda magical superpowers' (LOL) will still help him with the barbell. So he inhaled more air, painfully puffed out his chest, strained almost to faint, and "secured" all this with his tightened belt. But the belt untied itself, and the 'makeshift strain' completely disappeared, so the Wolf met with problems. Still he HAD some small 'superpower' at the moment (see the flowerpot scene, the butterfly scene)... but the weight of a BUTTERFLY (!!!) hilariously turned out 'the last straw', as you could see. And still, after that, our 'wannabe-supervillain' still COULD, thanks to his adrenaline, use the HALF of the full barbell as a club, to try and kill the 'busybody' butterfly (ha ha ha) and the old 'enemy' (the Hare) when the Wolf suddenly saw him. The official novelization shows the Wolf thinking at the moment: "They're both at the same spot, the butterfly has landed onto his ear! Now I will take them with one blow!!!!"

At 2:04, we see that the Wolf has a slight mental disorder. He is inadequate, he likes to play small dirty tricks on others. In this case, he inflated a paper bag and caused it to burst with a loud sound, intentionally before the umpire had time to fire the starting pistol (to start the runners). But the runners, as expected by the Wolf, mistook the sound for "the shot of the starting pistol" and started before the time when the umpire had not yet fired. That's why the umpire looks at his pistol with such surprise. And the Wolf laughed at the presumable "stupidity and credulity of the runners, who failed to distinguish a real shot from a fake one, they fell for it, id*ots, ha-ha-ha!".
