- Applies to 7th Gen Honda Accord 2003-2007 V6 Automatic transmission.
Symptoms included vibrations on startup, clunking sounds while driving on bumpy roads, clicking and squeaking when coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop. Initially thought is was issues with my front suspension; upper/lower control arms, sway bar bushings, ball joints, etc. but this was all tight. I will mention that I had already replaced all 4 strut assemblies which were worn out.
Conclusion: After changing the front engine mount, the ride was quieter but I could still hear some clunking and odd noises here and there when going over bumps. Turns out, I needed to replace the passenger side engine mount and driver side upper transmission mount. Now the ride is so much quieter and smoother. I took it on the most broken road in my area and it handles like new.
I have created separate videos for the additional mounts that I replaced. See links below.

Looks like some of those bolts holding a bracket to the transmission are threaded into the aluminum transmission body. It is noteworthy that these bolts should not be torqued nearly as much as you would torque them if they were going into steel. Thanks for this very helpful video!
Thanks for taking the time to comment and share a tip.
I had a mechanic tell me for my 04 accord 2.4 that the left engine mount and left transmission mount are broken and cracked respectfully, I am assuming this is referring to the drivers side? A little confused not much of a mechanic clarification would be great. There is shaking of the steering wheel when I turn the ac on as well if that helps any. Great video btw and you showed the process perfectly
Oh man, this one looks much harder to do than the other three engine mounts
All 3 mounts were pretty straight forward. The one that scares me is the rear mount which I did not change as it still good.
Awesome content!! Did the car shake on acceleration? Around 40 mph?
Thanks for the compliment. Don't recall any specific noise on acceleration at 40 mph (60km/h here in Canada)I was hearing alot of noise when going over bumps, stopping and accelerating from a stop. I managed to get rid of alot of the rattle by replacing front and passenger engine mounts amd driver side tranny mount. Still had creaking when stopping and accelerating so I tested the upper mounts which were loose at the joints so I changed those out. The stopping and accelerating noise finally disappeared after changing lower control arms. I have videos of all this and will be posting the lower control arm one shortly.
Thanks for this great video, i have a question which is can i use transmission mounts kit of 2.4L for 3.0 considering they dont have the same transmission?
Thanks appreicate it. I would suggest checking the part numbers for these 2 vehicles against an online parts supplier. Here is one that you can use to confirm the part numbers are the same. www.hondapartsonline.net/oem-parts/honda-rubber-transmission-mounting-upper-50870sdaa02 As for the upper transmission mount, it does appear to be the same OEM number for both engines OEM 50870-SDA-A02
Great video. Did you by chance do the other 2 lower trans mounts and have info on that?
Thx for the compliment. I did not change either of those as they were still good. However I have 2 videos on replacing the front engine mount as well as the passenger side engine mount in case you need to change those.
isn't there a rear motor mount as well close to the firewall?
Yes. I did not change it as it is still good.
These cars gives to many problems not good as they say tfs
