Thank you so much for that video! My SL came with the mirror housing taped together and everything fell apart when I barely touched it. Had a hard time figuring out how the spring clips fit. I was always trying to get them into the housing instead of the frame. Mystery solved now!

Re-installing it can be very problematic. I've done it several times and the technique I now use is to first spray a little WD-40 on the spring. Then align the spring in the mirror with the slot in the base. Keep it level and then deliver a few solid blows at the spring with a medium sized rubber mallet. It takes quite a bit of force to seat it flush. It can be done with your fist but it's much easier and quicker with the mallet, and a lot less stressful.

It's always nice to hear another method that works for people. It can be tricky reinstalling the mirror. What we did was take a dremel and shave off a tiny bit of metal from one of those two pins on both sides of the spring. Even a little extra space seemed to help. We will have to try your method next time we get the chance.

I ground down the pins on the spring so it wouldn’t be to hard to install. I did this after breaking the console trying to put it in place. It was frustrating because I had just repaired it for the second time. After grinding down the pins I greased them also.

is it possible to replace only the adjustable holder in all directions, because it dangles freely?

It fits S320, S420, and 500SEL that have the manual mirrors. Just make sure it has the home link and auto dim features. We have a mold made for the mirror without those features but our stock won't arrive for another 1-2 months.

Any chance I can get a little more info on how it actually snaps back onto the mount? I can’t figure it out and this Video doesn’t show it. Thank you. Also what is the cost for the replacement housing? And or do you sell just the front piece? In mushroom color thank you
