    I finally lifted my 2022 Tundra. I went with a Rough Country 3.5" lift kit made for air suspension models Tundras and I also went with 35" Toyo Open Country AT3 (all terrain) mounted on 17"x8.5" DX4 wheels.
    All the work was done by the guys at Truck Envy in Reno Nevada.

    Looks sharp.. That is a perfect size.. Don't ever go bigger.. I had a 3-4in lift & 35's on my 13 Rock Warrior, and loved it.. Went to a 6in lift & 37's when I bought my F150, and it didn't take long for me to hate the taller truck.. 6in is just too tall.. It looks cool, but I will never go back that big, I would be surprised actually if I go beyond a level kit anymore.. My trucks has the 5.0 so the wind and lack of torque with the coyote motor, I had to install gears front and rear to get back some of the performance and get the trans back into its sweet spot, just like the lift, the gears are cheap, labor however is not!!.. I should have stayed in the 3-4in range.. FYI, you do not need that much psi, I always ran mine at 40-42psi.. you want them as low as possible to give you the plush ride, as long as it don't feel like its rolling over in corners on the sidewall.. 35-38 is usually a bit low, and 45 and up is too hard.. I like the 40 to 42... and rotate them tires often.. like every oil change often..!! I run Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my F150 & Nitto Recon Grapplers on my 02 GMC.. both 20in but the Ford is 37's and GMC has 33's.. on my 2nd set of each.. the Ridge Grapps have a seriously stiff sidewall made for big trucks, the recons are made for lighter half tons.. My last set of Ridge Grapps lasted 66k miles, and the Recons lasted 71k.. Toyo & nitto are owned by same company so im sure those open countries are similar, I just prefer the tread pattern of the Nittos better imo... I also run Nitto 555R2's on my Camaro ZL1.. Nitto must love me cuz I have spent thousands with them.. LOL

      Thanks for the info. I will take your advice about not ever going to 6” lift on 37s. I want a lifted daily driver that fits in my garage when it snows in the winter and this 3.5” lift with 35s fits perfectly. My next upgrade will probably be shocks.
      Ironman foamcell pro has my attention right now. Some Italian guy drove his SUV across every continent in every environment from arctic to African desert and he showed how his shocks didn’t leak one drop and performed perfectly over 7 years of abuse. I can’t wait to interview them at SEMA this week.

    Rough Country lift kit was about $800 not including the labor which was a whole day. Labor is about $800!!! The tires were roughly $400 each. The 17" wheels were about $150 each (I got them used)

    Man that truck looks good! I also have an SR5 (White - TSS Off Road Package) with a leveling kit from Rough Country (my wife is short). Just got through with some lighting upgrades. Alpharex Nova Headlights, Diode Dynamics Fog Lights and Rough Country Ditch Lights - man it makes a big differences in the front - wasn't cheap though.

  • @markbrandt504
    @markbrandt504 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Looks awesome. Did it effect the handling quality at all? I lifted my gen 1 tundra just a little bit, and it just doesn't handle as well. I used to be able to zip around like a race car in the factory ride height

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So far it’s great. I would think that has a lot to do with the fact that the gen3 tundras already have a good suspensions since they come with coil spring shocks on all 4 corners vs the old gen1 leaf springs.
      Shock fade and brake fade can make a vehicle feel like crap especially if the fade come on quick.
      Also the gen3 tundra has disk brakes on all four corners vs the gen3 drum brakes. Stopping power ads to the performance feel some say.
      Then there’s the shock technology itself from 20 years ago to today. Mono tube vs twin tube shock absorbers. Then there is foam cell technology which is popular today that didn’t exist 20 years ago.
      So all this being said my truck rides nice with the lift kit and if I invest in a stage 1 shock upgrade by fox or king or icon that alone would be night and day better I’m guessing.

      Fantastic! I took it on a road trip through 3 states pulling a 5k pound travel trailer up and down the cascades in Oregon and the sierras in California with no problems. The twin turbos had amazing power and the airbags towed like a dream. And that was with the mud terrain tires too. Only hiccup was the rear window seal issue that everyone complained about but Toyota replaced it under warranty.
