    My God this is excellent !!! My Thai coach keeps complaining about my 'chicken wings' n all the long trajectories that I wasted. I'm gonna try this method at home n see how it goes. Thx a mill Sylvie :0

    Funny, looks like Master K was trying to teach you this concept in your Six Elbows Practice video in 2009. Just shows that the road to perfecting often is a cycle of learning, forgetting, and re-learning multiple times before it 'clicks'. Fantastic videos!!!

    Good tip. My old boxing coach used to make us do this to conceal jabs and right hands to prevent the elbows from flaring. I'll definitely give it a go with elbows 👍🏾

    Cool Sylvie. Hey am 55 and I broke my alacrenon in pushbike accident and had orthodpedic surgery. It's coming pretty gd for lifting and feeling gd about my right cross on light bag. But am wondering if my right elbow days might not be over. What do you think? Obviously you cannot see the elbow on a youtube comment, but any ideas much appreciated.

    I have some questions about starting out a program in Thailand, on a budget (possibly) to train in Muay Thai for the love of the sport and the overall positive effects it has had on my life since I started here in my hometown in Los Angeles. It is all I want to do beside (study Russian on my own time). I joined a small gym in Koreatown and all I can say is that i love this combat sport and can't think of not doing it ever in my life....is there an e-mail where you can send me some links or information on best place to start. Basically a beginner, but gaining experience and learning from a bunch of great guys at my gym. Spending a few months out there like a sabbatical would do my overall some good. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks! You are inspirational and motivating.

      @8limbsUs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm glad that you've had such a positive Muay Thai experience so far, but can't really individually answer these questions as the topic is very wide, and I get a lot of this kind of communication. It's like answering the question: Where and how should I go to college? But if you would like to post your question on my Roundtable Forum 8limbs.us/muay-thai-forum/ I'm sure there will be some advice offered, and I'll try to put some info in there as well.

    Hey Sylvie thanks for the tips. I have a question that should one twist his/her foot when throwing a sideward elbow or not? I'm asking it from the balance and range perspective. And thanks again for the tips.. bless you.

      @8limbsUs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't have to turn necessarily if you step at an angle; my heel goes out a bit, not a lot. Chatchai taught me that on the jab - you can find it on 8limbs.us in the GIFs of that private with Chatchai.

    I had to think. I think what this person is saying makes sense, but in a real fight it's just difficult to maintain "perfect form". I feel it's more important to have the fight iq to know when to throw the elbow.

      Kinda curious to try applying it to other more linear strikes, or even kicks

    • @8limbsUs
      @8limbsUs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting that you say that because when I trained with Sagat about a month ago (see it here: 8limbs.us/muay-thai-thailand/street-fighter-sagat-petchyindee-private-uppercuts-power-center ) he was not only very focused on eliminating any excessive loop in my punches and elbows, he also really wanted my kick to become much more linear. It was far too "long" and wide, taking too much time. He was like "Why come all the way from America with your kick?" "We are in Bangkok, come from Bangkok." He wanted it short, compact and much more linear.

    • @Timonsaylor
      @Timonsaylor 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu - Muay Thai did he teach you how to Tiger Destruction by chance? Joking aside, I suck at analyzing a fighter if they're better than me (not even being humble, I suck shit), so I never realized that your kick allegedly arcs so much. any thoughts on the wall for kicking by chance? this method just looks brilliant

    • @8limbsUs
      @8limbsUs  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. With hooks you can twist your shoulder back first, sliding against the wall; or you can throw them as you so an elbow without any twost first but pivot your foot to get power. Watch Chatchai Sasakul on this channel, you'll see how he doesn't blow out his frame on hooks at all.
