Love these occasional armchair experts trying to offer advice to a woman with 200 sanctioned fights, that has trained with nearly every active Muay Thai legend. I'm not trying to be a dick, but just think what it would be like asking Julio Cesar Chavez if he ever thought about rotating his hips more or whatever. I know you probably mean well, but it doesn't reflect amazingly on your self-awareness.
Yeah, and not just to Sylvie -- also advising Sagat, who literally is so famous he has a street fighter character named after him :/. Golden rule of martial arts: take what you can use, and leave the rest.
Agree with what you say. However unless you have Sagat or Sylvie experience it's good to see if what they say works for you before you jazz it up. Every fighter adapts the fundamentals to suit their physique, personality etc so you're right that its not gospel but it's a proven method if you're starting out.
This woman is a gold mine in terms of knowledge and skill. As a beginner I often feel like I am not learning a lot because the class is overpopulated and the instructor can't help each student to hone their techs so we end up practicing the wrong way until he comes to correct us a bit.
I figured this one a bit ago - and it’s funny but when it really came together was the same - when I started focusing on the rear shoulder. Is amazing for knockout jabs too. However - I have not been stepping outside like you’re showing, but I just did and that definitely adds even greater power! Thank you :-)
Reminds me of some things I read in an old Jack Dempsey book about using the opposition force with the shoulders rotating. I'm going to try this out tomorrow at the gym and set up a ten minute timer, which is a great bit of extra info there, or a great tip anyways. I appreciate you uploading these videos and all of the effort put into them as well as taking the time to explain and reiterate the things you've learned. Great stuff.
Thank you so much. I hadn’t really thought about my motions enough here but I’m going to try drilling these: -using the wall to make the cross more efficient -focusing on the opposite shoulder when throwing the cross
Ooowee got that pepper. 🌶️ Thank you for the learning moments. I gotta look up more of these videos like how they knee or kick without the robotic chambering like in karate and TKD. Very cool fight methods. Go Sylvie 🎉
Throwing it like that you telegraph nothing, and you have good stabbing power. Good job lol, I'm 200lbs, and with your training, I really think you would take me out easy.
Well, if you are an orthodox and you are throwing a left jab, there is no need to pull back your right shoulder. You simply flick your left jab, do not telegraph too much, for it will take longer for you to touch your target.
Silvie Thanks for the great videos. When I was watching a previous video with Sagat it looked like he left his knuckles vertical and didn't twist the punch at the end. Is this how he always throws or does he switch it up, based on his next attack?
he does not twist. He says twisting causes you to use the weaker muscles on the back of the arm rather than the bicep/shoulder, which he deems stronger for punching.
In the demonstration you gave, you're letting your elbow chicken wing out a little. I'm more of a boxer than a nak muay, so I don't know if having your elbows out protects against kicks, but it might worth noting.
To maximize that punch, try a half step off the back foot while applying the technique. I like how sharp it is, and how fast it retracts. Definitely will leave an ouchie.

Slow ur technique down and just practice mechanics
I heard Sitjaopho is good if you want the Teachers to pay attention to you.
As always I'm smarter than I was yesterday after I watch you tech.
I love your technique break downs. They've been a huge help. Thanks and big ups from Phuket!
Appreciate your attention to detail, very nice breakdown

wow this is great! I’m a beginner and just wanna let you know that you are still helping people with all these videos

Focusing on the opposite shoulder relly helps. Thanks
You’re a legend.
Please make a video about the diet. It is very important. And no one know what these athlits eat and what is not good to eat. Thank you

Coach Sylvie come to Ann Arbor Michigan . Start Martial Art Gym & Cross Fit gym here . Thx
These videos are so good keep it up
Thanks Sylvie. This is super helpful.
The light bulb moment happened in my head and then it exploded holy shit.
Thanks for this. I was told to raise my elbow when throwing a straight.
I think I'll listen to you and Sagat instead. :p
beautiful stuff
Love your Videos....
very instructional thank you
Using the same foot position as Sylvie, how about doing the left jab? Do I 'pull' my right shoulder back?

You don't really need power on your jab. But if you insist, I recommend researching Jack Dempsey's drop step
I want to start implementing this into my training, do you have to hit something or can it be trained shadow boxing?
Great technique vid, thank you 😁👍🏽
Hmmm...I've always snapped my punches. I'll have to try and fallow through.
tkx Sylvie always the good teacher
Could you please make some video concentrating on jabs as well?
check her huge playlist, bet there's already something on jabs xD
thanks, Sylvie
Cross is different to straight right
Thanks Sylvie.

Thank you! I have been playing with both I still feel I generate more power when I turn it over, but seems to be a bit faster when I don't.
Pop!..pop!..pop...!love the sound of a popping right cross.!
Did sagat throw his punches with vertical fist?
This helped me ty. Simple effective
u are great!
So is my arm suppose to make a popping sound???
"Supposed to," no. But does and isn't a problem, probably. Mine often does
Nice . Nice!!!
This is called yin power in tai chi. Using the opposing pulling force to generate power.
What country was this filmed in ? Are you in Thailand ?
Edfreded yes she lives there
Can this be practiced on a punching bag?
Val Rojas yea duhh
Wish Sagat showed his Tiger knee and Tiger uppercut!! XD Sylvie #1! PfP!
me encantan tus vi deos
👍👍
Perfect can you send me the vedio how l can take a traingle when l deffence and attack
power comes from hip not shoulders
you broke it! : )

She built better than some men 😂
Don't make her mad

Thank god you were here to clear that up..!!
