I underestimated how fast pothos grow. When I first started getting into plants, I had about 4-5 different pothos varieties. I can now confidently say that I have at least 20 planted pothos & this doesn't include the propagations😅
If your Scindap. is giving long runner arms with no leaves its from getting too dry between waterings. It's pushing out growth but cannot produce the leaves. It's one of those plants to go over to and touch the pot once a week to see where its at. :)
You sure? Im pretty sure the problem is not enough light so the plant lets these runners grow with no or very small leaves to find places with more light. Every scindapsus or epipremnum with runners i moved closer to a light source had smaller spaces between nodes and more/bigger leaves
I learned quickly I don’t need to propagate every single piece or cutting. I barely have space for the plants anymore let alone propagations, everyone does not want a planty gift, and the stuff I’m aggressively cutting (especially like tradescantia/wandering dude) will just keep quickly growing back and it’d be a never ending cycle and mess. I felt only slight guilt at first for throwing away plant pieces and you could compost them if it helps you feel better but it’s kind of..freeing to just toss what I don’t need and be done.
In a "tiny" NYC apartment. Enjoy the challenge of nurturing my props. I give away the established HUGE/ beautiful Mother plants that out grow my apartment so that I'll have more space to raise my babies🪴
I live in downtown a big city where there are always a lot of newcomers and students nearby. The light in their eyes when I gave all my props away is the best reward to my small effort.
@@trippin9899I started throwing them in carry out cups with lids and they’re super easy to give away and not toss out. Just stand on the street and start handing them out. Lol it do be getting crazy lol
Love your clear pots and I love this plant!! I've had one since last Summer and it's finally trailing because I moved it to my Southeast-facing window!! I can't wait to prop it in the Spring!!❤😊
LOL. Same here. I always tell myself: "it's gonna take 10min". Then it goes into 30min and then an hour and two. Till, I really HAVE to go to bed. Tending to plants at night is so cooling and refreshing, with no distractions that we don't want to stop. :0

I have those propagations all over my house I can't bring myself to throw any cuttings away. I just filled a prop box with with pictus wetsticks yesterday. 😂 You have more patience than me I never remove all the moss.
Every time I try propagating something in perlite, I end up killing them, I'm not sure how you're doing it with so much ease. Only water propagation is working for me
Yes! I usually get from Sol Soils because it’s premixed (MICHELLE10 is a code you can use). When I make my own, it’s orchid bark, perlite, coco chips, and some soil
I felt this. I had a Cebu with a ton of runners. Hundreds of nodes. I propogated the leaf nodes into one container--sooo many. And the leafless nodes into a bag with moss. There must be like 50 or more lol
The one inside the glass dome was opened maybe 3 times. The one in perlite I removed the plastic wrap once the leaves hit the top and I topped it off with water whenever I remembered
Runners are due to low light conditions. The plant sends out runners looking for more light. Think of the potato experiment in the box in grammar school.
How, HOW do you stop your moss from going mouldy?! I can't propagate anything in moss because of the mould issues. I have even boiled my moss before using, but even then it still went mouldy.
seconding the brand switch. I had a bunch of mold issues with the random sphag moss I bought; I ended up buying the nice new zealand stuff (i think the packaging is orange) and I haven't had any mold problems since then
If only there were ways to just swap the props you have! Maybe the best way is to put them in little containers with care guides on the street occasionally as free plants for people to take 🤣
If that's a pothos and not the scandapsus than it wants more light I keep might in the middle of where all the t8s in my room overlap and it legit grows like a weed but a full weed at that lol

HAHA they are such prolific growers
I combine different species of pathos/philodendrons/sansevieria in "family-type" planters so I can enjoy the contrast betw them.
Well, you should stay away from the syngonium. 😂
I get very sorry because I have killed even pothos and sanseviera 😢😅
I cut runners off and compost! Cutting stimulates plant growth near the soil to make it fuller and i hate looking at runners
Agreed

Hahaha yesss!
take the leafless runners and just wrap them around the edge of the pot in the soil, half an inch deep and wait a few months, youll have more leaves

Clear pots for the win!
lol you’re going to end up composting them like the pothos 😅
People went crazy when I said I did that 😅

Locally there's a "take a plant give a plant" box- like those reading libraries. Great thing to do to share cuttings.

My satin pothos grows leafless stems, THEN grows leaves later! 💜

They usually grow runners due to low light.
It drives me crazy!
Silver satin is my favorite

Great video. I’m try put in soil to propagate. And they was rutten
Ahhh soil propagation can be tricky for some plants. Water is easiest and I like perlite with water
i’ve been wanting a plant like this so bad and believe it or not i can never find any where i live!😭

Wait how do you keep the moss from going moldy?
I’ve never had an issue with mold! Airflow is important to prevent mold. I get algae but not mold

Scindapsus
