Nice content drew, interesting analysis for placements. Personally i have been trying to avoid big port strategies and its been affective for me. I just got so tired of people robbing me "cause you have a good port". would be interesting to see some data on this.
41:44 the play is to road-settle the 5/10 for 9VP you become the #1 target but so what u produce the most brick and wood to extend road as req but save for city or pop when u dont ez win IMO
I think one valuable lesson is that if myguy started on the 6/5/9 he starts 1 road from a settle on a 3:1 port. Instead he settled on a 3 hex tile but then had to build 2 more roads for a 3:1 port
Issue with Devs and OWS. Is overweighting lottery luck over controlling your destiny. Efficiency in resource conversion. Efficiency in procurement. More important than pulling Devs early on. Get yourself to buying multiple cards. Vs overspending when you cannot afford it.
5:40 the way the picks went in inclined to go 9,10,11 and the 6,3,11 go for the 4,11 first then the 3-1, be the road guy. No one else will be able to fight you.
Yeah, as Drew would say I got “too cutesie with it”. I think my idea at the time was double brick in this board was valuable so I benefit from all brick rolls and dominate the road game. My own lack of placing out the rest of the board forced OJ to go wood port, making my setup significantly slower and clunkier. 5611 did leave me with a three hex expansion to up my production BUT it’s less flexible and I end up just 4:1ing for longer in the game.
I tell every student I work with that progress in Catan is not about spamming 4-5 games in a day but the ability to take 1 game as far as possible when it comes to your analysis and insights. This game is obvious longer than an average ranked game but the ability to break down each move and discuss perspective and alternatives is a game changing ability. Imagine how much better you would be if you could have 3-4 options every time you roll the dice - You would begin to play way more strategically and creatively. You can only do that with deeper analysis! Enjoy

Big respect to Twitch! I salute you fellow settlers

I usually am fine with 4th position, but I think the 3rd position is the trickiest.
Holy crap 1 hour! Let’s go!

Hey dandy, heard about the coaching program, interested in learning more. I joined discord also
Why are Drew's usernames always different? What is his actual username for the 9th season so I can see his rank?
I would have gone for the 569 on his placement. Could have easily goteen to the wood port and 3:1.
Lol Fun game!
I just done see how you choose 5611 over 569. Insanity.
Myguy is top 10 in the world right now. We all mistakes but it’s an easy mistake to make.

Orange should have focused first on cities and then advancing up the ore/wheat coast line.
If placing for OWS dev game.
Way too slow
Yep! This was mentioned about halfway through the game that because orange had the wrong plan of attack, I knew they were going to struggle.
@@dandydrew orange over half way through mentioned was distracted watching a show. Think blue stated distracted too.
So benefitted his game choices
this is WAY too long, way too much talking. Where is the editor when you need him
Disagree. Is a training session not a game play video

Hard disagree. It's training, theory, thought processes. If you don't want to learn then move on.
@@dandydrew oh, I know a game is better the longer (and closer) it is. My main gripe is that I think an editor should've trimmed it up in places
agree feel like a lot of the time he just waffles and nitpicks every persons tiny flaws thinking he’s all high and mighty
*breaks down :) @dandydrew just trying to help
Oppsie 😜
