  • Beng M is one of the largest & being a way out of town is ignored by most tourists but it shouldn't as is a mighty temple that invokes awe.
    Please help support this channel build a video library of mostly forgotten ancient temples. Any support, no matter how small, will help. Just $20 will give me enough fuel to allow me travel 1000 kilometres. Thank you

    Great adventure to Beng Mealea . This is a great temple tour. I love them big and small. Cambodia is known for the biggest temple in the world. You got to show all the forgotten temples big or small.

    I have been wondering if the intrepid Mr. B was ever going to haunt the dark galleries of Ben Mealea. Akun to D. Mc for his suggestion! Like you Mr.B, the last time I was here, there were no steps and it was quite a workout. Watching the vid, it's easy to forget about the stifling heat that was ever-present when I was there. What a wonder to have the place all to yourself and how magical this place is. Couldn't imagine it in the rain.... Quite a motivator for me to get my affairs in order and get going. Thank you again.

      The one thing I always think of it’s not saying the temple in perfect order, well maybe, it is to be there the day it was completed. Just imagine people coming from miles to see this incredible wonder it would’ve been a very happy festival and a day everyone would’ve remembered, it would’ve been magical. I hope life is kind take the very best of care Mr B.

    Was eagerly waiting for this video and it is great... the temple, of course, was built under the aegis of the grandiose King Suryavarman II. So size was never an issue. I hope that some efforts are made to restore the temple to its partial glory.
    BTW thanks for the acknowledgement, Mr. B

      Actually this temple was built by his younger brother King Tribhuvanaditya the first great Buddhist Khmer king who started the first Buddhist reform project before King Jayavarman the 7th. I wish they can restore this temple back to its former glory. There is a huge buddha statue in the middle of the Baray reservoir and near it stands a massive pyramid platform built by King Tribhuvanaditya.

    Beng Mealea, perhaps my favourite temple. I’ve been there 6 times and 3 times I’ve taken friends to show them.
    First time by car in 2009 but then by Tuk tuk . Last time was with my son in December 2019.
    I see it as in 2 parts there is the extensive exploring inside but then also the walk around the perimeter.
    Also taking the backroads back to SR is a wonderful trip past all the farms, the landscape is beautiful.

    It was attacked and destroyed from a larger force with greater power. The 2 walls are meant for added protection as the builder understood that those attacking would have greater numbers so the building would have to withstand longer durations of attacks. The hollow walls are meant for the passage way of reinforcements to move quickly between locations. The amount of windows and pieces missing show that the defense could not withstand the attack. The height of the walls show that the builder understood the forces coming would be much taller. Also, stone structures don't collapse on their own over time. Something has to be destroyed lower down to create a weak base for the collapse to happen. If the builder did bad math when building, the structure would immediately collapse then.

      As to the intro it was done at my house and I wasn’t wearing any trousers, I should pay myself danger money. 🙂

    I thank Mr. Bee for posting this mighty Prasad Beng Malea temple. You are right that this place is too big to put together again. I agree may be the architect did not do the right calculation. Thiis phenomenal place is more mesmerizing and spookier than the similar but smaller Prasad TaProhm temple also an abandoned temple.

    • @TheMrB
      @TheMrB  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think what took this down was like so many other Temples. The trees got their routes between the blocks. Then they slowly pulled it apart with their roots.

      @@TheMrB Yes. You are damned right. To stop further deterioration of Prasad Beng Malea temple, those jungle tree roots need to be removed ASAP. These roots can turn into humus and soil that compleyely bury the temple in several hundreds years
