Which leadership are you referring to? The Monarch in the UK is a ceremonial figure. Executive power lies with the Government, legislative power with Parliament. The King cannot even write his own speeches, he has to agree them with the Government.

I think people ought to know that much of the splendour of this occasion is missing from this video (and from other channels too). The most notable spectacle happens in the most lavishly ornate rooms in the Palace of Westminster, tge royal apartments and takes place between the King's arrival at the Palace of Westminster in the coach and the exact moment when the King's enters the chamber of the House of Lords, quite a long interval.
It involves numerous processions up the grand Sovereign's Staircase, through the huge, glittering Royal Gallery and the Princes' Chamber.
So far as I can see, the only channels which broadcast that volume of footage are those of the BBC so anyone who can access the BBC coverage will gain a fuller experience of what really goes on (though you will have to fast-forward through political commentary and interviews interspersed between).
All this video shows is a lot of peers in red robes talking amongst themselves while all this pageantry is going on hidden from their view in the stunningly decorated rooms adjacent.
In contrast, the actual speech itself is normally as dull as ditchwater.

I’m of the opinion that, as a matter of research, the PM has that responsibility, not His Majesty. The Prime Minister has always written the speech with a bit of help from the Monarch and the aides.
The government writes the speech and he only reads it out loud. It the plans of the government for the next year. That's why it's "My government".
The king does not write the State Opening speech. He will be writing his own Christmas Day message and any other personal messages to the people of the UK.

Why should the office held by one individual not be acknowledged by another? Subordinates salute their superiors in the military. What is the difference? Do you not believe in rank? Communists tried and failed to create a society without leaders or ranks and soon found it was impossible and reverted to earlier practices.
