Was just gonna say, Buggy had an AMAZING day. She experienced so much and had a fabulous time! Loved watching her in the sped up part of the video. She was busy! Reminded me of when our boys were toddlers and helped me and the DH in the garden. I bet she fell asleep during dinner and slept like a brick all night. :-)
Scare me half to death saying "time to say goodbye", next time add what is going goodbye. I don't think my heart can take that again. My love to the family.
Little barefoot baby girl is growing up just like they were meant to grow! Happy & Healthy!! You guys know how to raise children the right way, the healthy way !!!
That’s a great idea! Then use the frozen watermelon balls as ice cubes in water to flavor, keep water cold and then eat as a treat. Thank you for sharing that idea! I agree about their sweet baby girl. She did look like she was working and the dirt all over her was proof of her efforts. The fast forward was indeed funny.
As I was watching , I kept thinking "That's one very busy little girl! Those brothers will need to watch her 24/7 to keep her out of trouble. I loved that story of her picking the hot peppers even after Daddy told her "No." Eating that hot pepper was the best way in the world for her to learn that when Daddy says "No" Daddy is trying to help her. I love how the Hollers parent.
Nothing more precious than seeing an adorable baby covered in sweet earth. Absolutely love that she got a healthy dose of sun and fun!!!! Kids can't thrive in a sterile environment. 💖💖💖
Dinner looked fairly special to me. And yes, I agree with everyone, Lillyanne running the garden and doing her thing, so serious, so busy, it was fabulous and hilarious.
Love, love watching you all. Love the fact you let Buggy run in the muck, dirt and watermelon. What an awesome time for her. Reminds me of when I was a little girl, I will be 68 in Dec. PLEASE TAKE CARE AND BE SAFE
Best thing I have watched in a long time! The baby crawling and walking and right there in the middle of yall just enjoying every second! Bet her immune system is strong!
Huckleberries in the northwest up in the hills wild are absolutely amazing. NO ONE in the northwest grows them in their garden because they dont taste the same. It's just the way it is
Things to love about this vlog… 1. Baby covered in watermelon juice and red dirt 😂 2. Everyone pitching in to clear the garden 3. The bounty you got from the garden 🍅🌶🫑🍉🥔 4. The scrappy saw bench, expertly refurbished by Ben, to it’s new glory. That was fun to watch! Oh, you need to make a Pavlova meringue, cover it in whipped sweet cream and drizzle ripe passionfruit over it and top with berries… you are welcome!
I’ve enjoyed your content for quite awhile but after this video I have to say… I LOVE your parenting style! We raised our kids to get dirty and work hard for what you want just as you are doing. Ours are now raising their own babies in their image. Peace, love, and homegrown to y’all.
Meg, do you ever fry green tomatoes? They're so good if you coat them in cornmeal, salt and pepper, then fry like squash!!! Little Buggy is so cute "working" in the garden and sporting her farmer's tan!!🥰
Liliana was having a great time helping her family in the garden. Loved watching the whole family work together to get the job done so fast. Sad to see the garden go.
I just loved this video. Watching Buggy zoom around all over the garden was hilarious. She is so cute. And Mellon isn't good unless you get it all over ya. The bounty you harvested was so nice. I love seeing your whole family just loving life. God bless you all.
The Julia and the Zebra Long Wing also lay their eggs on the passion vines as well. Depending on where you are. Here in South Florida, we have all three. Love our butterflies 🦋!
Dirty babies are happy babies. My 3 y old has been stuck inside for a week with a cold and he cries at the window for his beloved dirt. I plan on giving him the hose and letting him go ham when he's feeling beter
I so LOVE watching this family! Always puts a smile on my face…y’all have come so far since I started watching you with Squatch and the travel trailer.Makes my heart happy! Thank you for sharing ❤️
Hey just wanted to say thank you for doing videos the way you do, I know it can't be easy but seeing a sweet simple video from your lovely family was really nice. I appreciate the energy and attitude that you and Meg have, keep being ya'll.
The baby was so cute in the garden. I laughed out loud at her cute dirty face after she ate watermelon. So adorable. ❤ You have a wonderful family and an authentic homestead. My family never misses a video. God bless.
I had pounds of green tomatoes last November and tried pickling them. Those were OK, but when I discovered you could make salsa verde out of them, it was a hallelujah epiphany. I consider salsa verde its' own food group!
Ben…nothing special…bite your tongue😂😂home made food …nothing more special….amazing how far you guys have come….you are an inspiration to the world….kudos🙏
I burst out laughing when I saw the baby after her garden weeding and eating water melon. So adorable and then of course the boys jumping to help with buggie and the garden chores. What a great life for this family.
A note on huckleberries. They are a wild high mountain berry. They grow in the mountains at 2,000 ft or above. They really aren't yet totally domesticated, and I can't imagine them growing in the humid, hot South. People around here pick huckleberries (fighting off the bears because that's one of their main food sources) in the mountains of Idaho and Montana. Might consider a berry that is more acclimated to your zone.
Been watching you forever and Love your beautiful family! Watching the family in the garden was so fun. We can all see how much buggy loves being outside. Your harvest was awesome! I must say one more thing....... Ben, your hair is amazing! Of course it look fine keeping it pulled up, it's practical when your working, but WoW.........it really looks amazing when you just let those wavy locks down. Definitely a great look for you. Wishing you a great weekend! Hugs from Karen in Iowa 🙋♀️😊
And one more comment! Love the bell. When I was a kid (fourth generation on a wheat farm) my mom used to ring my great-grandfather's brass cow bell to summon us for dinner! Brings back the memories! Thanks.
Your baby girl was ALL OVER the place. She's enjoying God's gifts of creation.💕 I so love to see your family working side by side. Love you guys. God bless you all 💖🙏🥰
Do always love catching up with you guys. I never say that anything "makes my week", but I do always feel very content and peaceful after seeing your videos. Never stop.
Ok, your title totally freaked me out! I was getting ready to cry, thinking you guys were leaving us. :'( I mean, I'd totally understand if that's what your family needed but we'd miss you all sooooo much! That garden is amazing! Congrats on such a bountiful garden. Yeah, some of it didn't quite do as well as other parts, but that's life, isn't it? :) Sending hugs from California (which I hope to escape to perhaps NC someday!! LOL)
You can cut open to too big okra and freeze the seeds to us like couscous. Works pretty well. We just discovered this this year. You can also dry the pods and make okra powder to use like corn starch.
I needed no explanation for the dirt covered baby. It's obvious where she feels absolutely at home! I loved seeing her "help" you guys! That was quite a haul! Peppers forever! 🌶 Sweet video!
I smiled and laughed a lot of times on this video ... but especially Buggy looking like she was in her own little pigpen AND when that "look at my gorgeous saw" music came on. You guys seem really down to earth and natural ... that's why we all enjoy you. Blessings!
Beautiful Baby, Awesome Boys! Great Garden, y'all are so blessed!! The table saw is amazing. Hope you have a video as to how you restored it Ben. I would love to see how you managed to make it look NEW!!
Hey beautiful Hollars, last video you mentioned New Country Organics so, I found a store in Colorado that sells it, drove and bought today. When I opened it and wow, what a difference, the color even is awesome with richness. I immediately gave my chickens some on the ground, they were literally pecking it up as if I'd given them scrambled eggs and fried chicken. Lol...Thanks for sharing about this company and thanks to Buckley's Homestead Store for carrying such a Great feed...
With the okra, you can harvest the big tough pods, scoop the seeds out and make squash seed couscous with them. Dry the tough pods and whirl them up in your blender into powder to thicken soups and stews. Or you can dry them and use them for ornaments, or shake out the seeds, roast them, and grind them for a coffee substitute. The Huckleberries I have had were always grown in the shade of pine trees...They're blueberries for southerners. The GARDEN Huckleberry, annual, is a solanum which needs cooking before eating. And BAHAHAHAHAHA! A baby's natural habitat! Dirt and sticky watermelon juice. Dirt and sunshine are super good for kids...so healthy for them and vital for strong immune systems and overall mental health! Great to see your kids, especially the baby enjoying themselves! 😁
Oh my goodness that baby girl!! Covered in watermelon and dirt! She won't be allergic to anything!! Loved watching all of you working on a project together. What a family! You are truly blessed!!
I just wanted to let you know there's something else you can do with those peppers instead of just freezing them. You can dehydrate them and then grind them into a powder store them in a regular mason jar and use it as necessary for different foods. It's one way to keep them going for a longer period of time. But you also have to vacuum out the air out of the container to keep them fresh for up to a year year and a half.
Cool thanks for posting this, it was interesting to hear how your garden grew over the summer months and your plans for autumn planting. I’m starting to plan my summer vegetable garden here in New Zealand
Fall garden day. I understand being a bit late this year. We did radishes, lettuce, turnips, and spinach. Huckleberries are tart and sweet. So sorry you didn't have a good crop. Cute to see Buggy joining in with the garden chores. She looks really happy. A family of pepper pickers! So cute. That is quite the haul! Nice picking! Good compost pile. I don't compost tomato plants. I heard it can lead to tomatoe blight. I don't know if that is true. Good idea to fire clean the bed with fungus among us. Wow, that table saw looks amazing now. So glad you found the right belt to fit it. Sweet potato fries! I like the bell to call the boys in for dinner. Thanks for this Hollars.
Old Italian man my husband brought home offered us a jar of spicy olives he put up…lots of garlic and very hot peppers. My youngest about Bugs age helped herself and I thought he was going to have a stroke. Well, she loved them and I saw him fall in love with her…after that he was our adopted grandpa and joined us in family things….he used to come by and get all the yucky stuff from cleaning up abalones…he made the BEST spaghetti sauce from the yucky stuff…
Just an FYI, the passion flower is the host flower for the Gulf fritillary butterfly. The caterpillar your boys saw on your plant is a Gulf fritillary caterpillar. They will strip the plant of all leaves, but doesn't hurt the plant. They are amazing to watch.
What a beautiful bountiful harvest! Love the time lapse of everyone in the garden. I have friends that grew the little watermelons as well and use an old vhs tape rack to hold them, its great you can put small squashes on it too and it get lots of air flow. Great space saver in a pantry.
Cardboard and straw. All you need my brother. Weeds, gone, Plants, loving it. Worms, eating it. Soil moisture, holding it. Feed the soil, keep the rain, and love the food.
Your gardens did great....many pounds of food eaten and preserved for future meals. Just can't beat that. Loved how little one got in there and did her bit to help as well. She will be a big help in a few years for sure. Thanks for sharing this end of the harvest with us. Y'all have a Blessed week end.
Good job beautiful family. I am clearing and prepping my beds for spring this week so they are ready to top with chopped up leaves. The table saw looks wonderful. And the boys helped you so much with the garden. Great video.
Great Video, Thank you. Didn't realize how much garden you had planted until I saw Mike from The Fit Farmer videod last week. Your daughter is going to be a great farmer, seems to like getting her hands in the dirt, love her dyed shirt.
Babies that get dirty develop stronger immune systems. I love seeing your kids working the garden.
👍
My mother used to say that a baby wasn't 'ready' until they had a point of dirt in them.
Agree
