Buggy is the cutest potato digger ever! My son, when he was joking with me one time, said ..."Oh Mom, I'm just kicking your knee" instead of pulling your leg. To this day we still say that. That was 50 years ago lol

    Way to go, baby girl!
Another shirt that says, "I digg'n Taboes!" The image can have a pitchfork in the dirt with potatoes coming out and on top, holding the pitchfork is buggie.
    She's such a cutie pie.
    Great harvest!👍🥰

I thoroughly enjoy your family as you joyfully gather your harvest. Your boys are such a blessing & Buggy is the 🍒 cherry on top. God has filled your quiver beautifully. You are doing a wonderful job of preparing your family to send them out into the world as straight arrows balanced in God's abundance. Blessing to you all always. 💜💙

Some of my very earliest memories are of helping my grandparents in their garden. Well... I didn't really help much, I mostly ate sweet peas and whatnot LOL. But you know what I mean. It's awesome to see kids out in the garden, knowing where their food comes from. Learning to respect the land and all that important stuff.

I am so glad y'all decided to try to save your marriage and family and leave the rat race. It worked beautifully.
You guys are just a joy to watch and God has blessed your family and pulled you all closer to each other and him.

You have a natural Happy potato Digger with the best little Eye for potatoes in the Dirt😊❣️❣️Buggy is such a cute, adorable little girl & yes, we all realize dad you can get the job done faster yourself but it takes a good parent do you have patience allowing a child to develop and grow and learn them selves along the way I feel like they’re contributing as well to the family.…
    “BIG-G TATOR” was just Adorable❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️😊
That was quite a nice hall of potatoes just had a two rows!! My dad‘s potato bed up on the sand hill was his pride and joy along with his watermelon‘s. We were never allowed to go into that bed without him. He knew just the right time to dig another day before. He always had lush big plants that everyone came to see. The two secrets I think he had was sand manure, (which he kept a pile of back behind the barn & utilized for the garden as needed) Like you guys, our potatoes were put up in crates on shelves to dry for later use. Those are the best flavor potatoes ever. Good luck on your next crop but be proud of this one❣️❣️😊

Decades ago my sister and I pulled a match kudzu and I decided to put it on my small bush bean garden bed. So I chopped it up by using a lawnmower and I mixed it in the topsoil on half of that bed. I was amazed at how much larger and more prolific that side of the being bad was when it was time to harvest! Amazing!

A woodchipper would turn the woody material into the brown stuff you need to offset the green from the leaves. That would make composting those trees/shrubs much easier. Pto driven chippers are expensive new but maybe you can get a second hand one, or even make one yourself 😀😀

I tell you, hearing little Buggy talk and laugh is precious to me. I'd say you all will call potatoes "taboes" forever now! Like when my son was her age he called popcorn "pa-torn" and fruit cocktail was "fut-cottontail". 29 yrs later I still call them his baby words!! Buggy is at my favorite age of babyhood when they start talking! Bet if you rented some goats they would eat down that kudzu and other evasive weed. There's a local guy here that you can rent goats from to do just that. So you might have a local person who rents out goats for grubbing weeds. Nice taboe crop!! So proud of you all!! Do you have more to dig or is that it for this season? Dad always put ours in a couple bushel baskets after hardening off, and then in our basement that we ate on til the following spring. Meg, you should make some honeysuckle jelly. Recipes are on Google and TH-cam. Easy too.

I brutally ripped them out and when I was wishing I still had them for a new shade bed noticed the back of my compost pile turned into a hosta mound when I was turning. What a nice surprise.

Kudzu (and Japanese Knotweed) is a nightmare in parts of the UK, it's considered dangerous with many councils forcing property owners to register removal/management programmes to stop it damaging neighbouring properties as its roots have damaged foundations and caused walls to collapse.
As for 'taboes' they had the nickname in our family as "Totoes", but "we" (the business dad worked for, when not mining) grew them by the ton (the average yield was more than 120ton) to sell along with onions and carrots to UK supermarkets. Even in our allotments we grew 60/70lb a year. But we needed about a third more. And like you said it always felt Christmas morning to see what had happened Underground....

Not sure how expensive it would be but a few compost bays made out of concrete blocks would give you walls to work with/against with your tractor. Then when you are trying to grab the compost material to turn it over or even just grab when it is finished you could scrape up against the walls.

I’m from Georgia and the roads are just lined with kudzu here! We always thought of it as the bane of our existence! I was watching a video on foraging a few years ago and low and behold, kudzu soup is considered a DELICACY in Europe!😂😂😂 Who knew??? I had no idea it was good for composting! Unfortunately anywhere I would have access to has probably been sprayed with weed killer! But how awesome that you have so much CLEAN fodder and compost material right in your property!

Kudzu tincture, the best thing for headaches!! I learned this from Stephen Buhner's Healing Lyme. We have it back in SE KY. It's great to eat too. The tincture if you don't use alcohol it tastes like sweet tea.

I had a friend who used the paper mulberry to make mulberry paper with the dried and partially pulverized plant matter. Beautiful stuff for calligraphy or bookmaking or whatever.

In our community garden we have the 3 year compost. First year filling, second year rest and third year lokking if we can use it otherwice an other year of rest. We do it with the leftover plants but also with our kitchen raw leftovers. G'D BLESS and greetings from Inge Noordam (the Netherlands/Europe)

I have one of those trailers too. My only issue with it is that it doesn't dump dirt or wood chips out without having to shovel a lot out. A wood chipper would probably be a good addition for your compost making experiment. I think I would focus on turning it into manure first if they will eat it. Keep up the awesome work.
