So his parents abandoned their sick child in a hospital to be experimented on… poor guy’s got it rough. I hope that one day, he’s not going to become an ethereal.
I hope not, but he thinks he will one day. Damn... supernatural disasters like Hollow can bring out the worst of people, and corrupt officials who exploit them and humanity for their selfish purposes...
I don't know if they abandoned him to become an experiment subject or just straight up abandoned him and his master ended up taking him in, either way that's fucked up dude. and the fact that in the story all the children masa saves said they were also abandoned by their families to die is insane....... I also hope he doesn't end up becoming an ethereal, but it'd be cool if he somehow got to conquer those ethereal powers and became some sort of hybrid that can use that for good. idk maybe just a selfish wish ;u;
He reminds me of Alfred from Fire Emblem Engage. Both seem bappy but... but secretly go through chronical ilness. Harumasa seems to "slack off", but its because hes sick, and Alfred loves to seemingly exercise because hes also sick. Alfred also hates being alone, possibly because he's scared to die alome
Kinda sad he can’t escape his fate. Still dude died a hero king, beloved by his people. His reign was brief and prosperous, unless you marry him that is.
@akira8393 unfortunetly no, however if we bring ruan mei, she can cure firefly, Harumasa's master not only was making a d rg that can boost ether aptitude but also making a cure for him
Anyone else feel a bit weird about the fact that he calls his master, well, master? It sounds like this is the person who raised him from infancy, but he comsiders him a teacher instead of a parent? Makes me wonder about who put that distance between them and why bc i doubt it was the child in question...
It could just be that he holds him in such high regards, and out of Respect as his teacher, Asaba calls him Master. Rappa and Her 'Ninja' master had a similar relationship, granted Rappa calls him by name and title cause he made up his title to her, but its a similar concept.
Isnt it a terminal illness with chronic condition? Thats what i gathered from doing his agent story,an illness that wont go away with its affect keeps coming back, they mentioned its terminal one of the times when talking to the kids no?
It was explained in the first chapter that the condition is present in children who are near-corruption proof, far more than the armed combatants who scored high in the aptitude test. Why this is terminal is that conversely, their lives are cut shorter, that they aren't expected to make it to adulthood. If they survive ageing any further, there is a real chance they could even die any second wherever they are, so much so that their transformation into an Ethereal would happen in an instant once they've died and their corruption resistance collapses.
Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome. So in other words, a rare terminal illness that affects kids who are exposed to ether at a young age. It's ironically thanks to those medications he has lived as long as he had but I imagine prolonged exposure to ether can affect Harumasa's illness as shown when he had trouble focusing his bow when he was aiming at the ether canisters Bringer - Right Hand of the Etheric King was "eating".

Not sure if anyone else is gonna notice this but the VA for child Harumasa is the wife of Harumasa’s VA (Micah Solusod)
that... that's just wholesome...

Aye.. i remember alfred too.
Even this illness made the siblings wonder if "slacking off" is Harumasa's way of dealing with his terminal illness, not because he's just a lazybum.
Thats 2 sides of the same coin for sure :p also, harumasa sounds like alcryst??
Wait! RLLY?!?!?

Harumasa was adorable when he was a kid, but this is still sad
Unlike firefly, Harumasa isn't genetically edited but both are suffering from their diseases and wish to d e as a human...
Is it curable in any odds?

@@Letsgobuddy-n3l so there's hope my girl firefly but not my boy harumasa😢
@@akira8393 there is some hope...remember the mech SAM? Its not use as an armor but also used as a medical chamber

This quest was soo sad. I feel so bad for lil Harumasa.
He didn’t deserve that:(

I dont think I explained it correctly, but I'm sure they said it's a terminal illness
Oh nevermind they changed the title,or is it me going crazy,am I seeing things?
Yeah, when people with this disease peak ether levels, they turn into ethereals.

Harumasa needs hugs and TLC...
Was it because of that thing on his neck the reason why he's like this?
Partly, that choker is meant to hide those scars.
No wonder why he sleeps at work and wants days off. And how in the cutscenes when he coughs.
My man's out here struggling, very relatable
IS THE HEADBAND THING A METAL GEAR SOLID REFERENCE WHAT THE FUCK LOL
