Don't know if you realized it, but Daz and Samuel have been around since season 1. Samuel was the one who Sasha saved when Bertholt attacked the 2nd wall. And Daz was the guy who Historia and Ymir saved in the snow. Sure, they're background characters, but it's sad to know they were saved from those fates just to die like this. 😢
they were afforded the opportunity to learn the truth of the world and even choose a side to die fighting for.. pretty worth to survive silly season 1 mishaps
Also knowing that Samuel was literally saved by Sasha, the girl Connie considered almost a sisters, is now taken out of the world by Connie himself.. pretty ironic and hard.
Jean was imagining his life if he ignored Hange’s knocking and stayed with the Yeagerists. Obviously, Jean was not with the extreme things they did, but a part of him could rationalize the rumbling of the world and the radicalization of Paradis, and we see him try to justify it even if he was abhorred by the whole situation. In that moment in his room, he was thinking about a life of comfort in the interior, something he always wanted since season 1, and choosing to give it up to follow Hange. 10/10 character
Yelena wasn’t airing out their sins & hypocrisies out of the goodness of her heart, but it did ultimately allow the alliance to get their grievances out in the open & continue forward.
That some people say "oh the dub is good enuff" is so frustrating, no disrespect to the English actors but the Japanese actors really leave it all out there
Those episodes where characters are just interacting with each other, share their emotions are the best. Are I absolutely love these two episodeds and the character development in these. And how you learn who those people really are.

A lot of people today still resent Germany for their Nazi past, and the Nazis did basically nothing compared to Eldia. 8:12 He still is afraid of everything. That's why he went the fascist route. 8:38 To clarify, he was imagining himself complying with the Jaegerists and letting them win, similarly to how he initially wanted to be in the interior as part of the military police. It would've given him a cushy and safe life, but Marco reminded him about his good side and his ideals, causing him to fight for the right thing. As a refresher for the two Jaegerists at the plane: Samuel was the one in season 1 on the wall during the second attack with Sasha's stolen meat scene. Sasha shot her ODM hook through his leg to save him when he was falling down the wall. Daz was one of the scared ones in season 1 during Pyxis speech who wanted to quit under the threat of the titans and the one that Ymir saved on the mountain in the season 2 flashback.
Most sane people in Europe don't resent modern Germany for Nazi Germany anymore (maybe for other stuff, like their economical domination of the EU that has some nasty sides to it). In fact the EU shows that countries and nations who fought and hated each other for centuries can actually find some common ground and work together. They were just sick of all the war. Thats one of the many reasons I think some of AoT themes fall flat, because the characters in AoT are all so intense and extreme in their world views and even in dire wars they still continue to fight. Eren with his genocide the rest of the world is obvious, but the other characters have also not a lot of ambiguity in their views and are almost not able at all to compromise with other characters of different views. Even Armin who is portrayed as the diplomatic guy in the series would be considered radical in real life or at least not very diplomatic at all.

Obviously the rest of the world would not just move on from that. The Scouts at least try to fight for the right thing, even though it is probably the hardest path / option out there, which is why that's definitely who I'm siding with here. Or at least in theory. I still think the rumbling would basically kill biodiversity to a point where Earth becomes unlivable for humans and most other complex life forms. You can't just sterilize the oceans and trample everything away on the whole globe, without that having major consequences for the ecosystems. We have to remember what Mr. Braus (Sasha's dad) said in the restaurant that it's up to the adults to get the kids "out of the forest" and stop the cycle. And here all the adults are in the forest, sitting around, lost, arguing like children. Will they make it out of the forest? Is it possible? Many believe that Sasha herself is represented by the potatoes and the food that is bringing everyone together.
Watch Berserk next, would be a great replacement for AoT vibes, being the highest rated dark fantasy manga of all times. The fact that they kept splitting the final season apart like 3 or 4 different times(with 6 months in between) actually made me lose interest in the series. I didn't care if they stopped Eren or not. Still don't. So, I actually don't know how the series ends. After the walls came down, I watched the couple episodes after that and stopped. It's like james cameron taking 10 years to make a sequel to Avatar. I just don't care anymore. But I still get amused at reactions. Maybe I'll find out that way.
I lucked out and didn't start watching the series until shortly before the fanale came out. I probably would've lost interest too if I had to wait so long.
