Letchworth, Gt Yarmouth both had set wave patterns only by the manufacture or maintenance company. Cleethorpes can only be done by a maintenance person. Windsor and Swindon are only 2 that can adjust wave patterns.

Both diamonds and parallels are standard at our park. Somebody messed around with the system when I went at the end of July because the wave pool was throwing random waves during a single cycle, we had everything you shown here. I bet our Facility Manager was steamed when he found out his wave pool was doing "crazy" mode. The pool had an older PLC that allowed manual time selection like what you wanted for the demo - probably a junior team member was trying write his own "script" and forgot to remove it after screwing around with it. Your PLC is manufacturer locked.

Double diamonds looks really pretty! Though @18:12 i can see myselve sitting in one of those chairs dipping my toes in the waves! You do not have to be in the deep end of the pool all of the time:) you can enjoy sitting there and watching the waves come at you too :) very satisfying!
Thank You for the video 👍🏼 Take your time to produce content. I prefer high quality content over high quantity content, and I think most of the team does. 😊
In Australia our E-stop systems use 2 sets of circuits, so if one shorts it can still rely on the other for a short period of time until you get the other one fixed, it can check the race condition too so if one circuit doesn't close within about 0.2 seconds of the other, then the system detects bad wiring or a faulty e-stop button. You can still work with single circuit systems like the one in this video, it just requires you to test all the e-stop circuits before operation.
It's way more wiring but each estop having a signal back to the hmi is really helpful for the op as it then shows what estop is showing as triggered. Cuts down diag times as well but that's not really something that happens often
Love the videos! I appreciate the fact that you spent over 2 and a half hours filming waves haha Curious if the system can physically create larger waves? Maybe even surf sized like at west Edmonton mall? or are the side walls not high enough? I realize they're different types of systems but getting pushed up a 6' wave in a pool is pretty cool. Though you definitely have them beat on patterns. pretty sure I've only seen parallel waves there.
Diagonal left looks the most like natural sea waves and makes it look nice when you sit at the pool, but I guess diamond gives the most movement/joy when you are in the pool
Regarding the ESTOPs being a normally-closed circuit that will trip if a wire breaks, that's really a feature, not a downside -if a wire breaks, then you want the system to go into emergency shutdown for failsafe reasons. If it was a normally-open circuit, there would be a danger of a wire break not being detected, and the ESTOP would then not work when called for in an emergency.
Can the amplitude of the waves been increased? Our local pool in Australia has “surfing” waves where they can set the waves higher.. just interested if this is just a setting? I’m guessing it’s just allowing the pressure in the chamber build up, so I’d assume you just increase the cadence between open valve and closed to get the maximum… but I just never understood that bit. Love that you’ve done this.. thank you… it’s always intrigued me.
When I was a lifeguard at a wave pool we would do guard practice and laps across the deep end with the waves turned up way above what they were while customers were there, and the end of summer city aquatics staff party was always turned up as well. I was really sad when it was "updated" between my first summer there as a guard and my second summer and it went from 10' to only 6'6" pool. The guard staff used to do "rescue" races from the bulkhead to the beach and back during the wave sessions. But it always impressed me how large/strong those waves could get, with the waves rolling all the way to the top beach drains. As far as the video goes, diamond/double diamond were the most common, although I recognize the vee as the one that we the guards hated the most. It always jammed everyone up in the center, and made it so much more difficult to identify struggling swimmers.
Very cool video! I would venture to guess that some of these patterns, especially parallel where every baffle opens at the same time, would benefit greatly from having all 3 blowers in operation at once.
Back when i had a pool before i got rid of it, i would jump up and down in the middle a lot to make the water go out and in and meet in the middle for my own lil wave pool. The water would go up to around 6Ft or more every time the water came back to the middle. I had a hell of a time doing that with the fam, that and making small whirlpools (Round pool) by walking on the edge of the pool in circles for a while.. I KINDA miss having the pool, but i do not miss maintaining it lol.
still confused as to how i got here, but always find your new video's interesting :) only thing i am curious about is the lighting that lights up the water slides ? they fall under your care ? and are they DMX or something ? :o would like a video that explains them if you find them time :)
Why is there a Pentair WhisperFlo under the lifeguard chair? And can you control the power of the waves? Like it can be for little kids small waves and then like a huge big strong waves for adults or people in the shallow area?
Have you considered a different series of valve? It seems like those valves for the cylinders are awfully troublesome. I recently was having a similar issue with sulfuric acid vapors seizing some aluminum valves every few months.
Great video, thanks! It seems like only a short while ago that you opened to the public, how long is your open season for before you close for the winter again? These two sections are separated by a short wall and some fake plants. So these dignitaries are standing near this Jacuzzi area to see this new amazing wave machine.
