I was so happy when I saw this come up! I have been checking your feed every day this week 😂🤣! Outdoor Water parks are a real novelty for us in the UK!
What is the operating season in the UK ? Here in Canada we are late May to first week of September. I was expecting Texas would be year-round, but as I've leaned from the Pool Guy's videos, the operating season isn't _a lot different_ than here.
It is also an expensive business to operate here because of the 3 month operating (revenue) season, while property taxes are paid for 12 months. I've done videos of three waterparks which failed and were abandoned, and derelict / vandalized / slides covered with graffiti, etc. Sad to see them fail, when you see from the Pool Guy the *_tremendous amount of work_* it takes to keep a waterpark going.
Add an oiler to your air systems instead of having to grease the pistons. Oil will keep the seals better and also stop the piston rods from rusting so badly
Air compressor engineer here. It should let air out for a little bit after it shuts off. But not for that long. The check valve, where the air goes into the tank from the pump, could be sticking or have debris in it. Usually there is a little rubber disk that is pushed against a brass surface by a spring. This let's air from the pump into the tank and prevents air from the tank going into the unloader line or the head of the pump. The air being released when the compressor shuts off is the air trapped between the head of the pump and that check valve. Letting that air out eliminates pressure in the head of the pump, thus requiring much less power to get the pump going again when more air is needed.
Why not after the water separator put an airline lubrication system inline? That way the shafts don't get rusty because with every operation there will be a miniscule amount of oil in the system and on the cilinder?
@@stokesandrew100 Most of the time excess oil will just scrape of on the top seal of your piston. So unless that seal goes bad you wouldn't have any real mess
@@ironmaidenfreak7 there's two exhaust ports on that electric valve. There will be a tiny mist if oil come out after awhile. It's not a huge deal depending on how clean it needs to be there. @@stokesandrew100 That's true! I was worried about the shaft itself but overlooked the valve. In that case you can indeed just put a hose on both exhaust ports and put that into a bucket of sorts. I'm in the food industry as well and most of our valve blocks are in lockboxes with a catch pan.
@@ironmaidenfreak7 Lock boxes with catch cans sound like a more professional solution... And yeah it's something to consider if he's worried about that concrete wall getting oily. But I do like the idea of an oiler. All that water and chlorine and constant operations definitely needs some oil.
I love these so much. We don't have a waterpark in my area (ours closed a few years ago, and it's expensive to run a waterpark in the desert, as you may know 😂😂), so these give me life. Not only because they're fun and educational, but because I get to see parts of the industry I don't get to see but which I find interesting
Hmmm for the wave pool pneumatic pistons, enclosures with an IP54 or better and a pneumatic rated lubrication system might be an idea to prevent rust and improve seal life. It'll help prevent the blowers circulating a corrosive atmosphere into the pistons & actuators. I would also look at relocating the air compressor intake to be external to that room, just so it isn't sucking in that same corrosive atmosphere actually into the system, it'll prolong the filter life if nothing else. You know, if the budget allows for this. :)
Swimming pool at Cleethorpes did relocate their air compressor upstairs out of the wave machine room. The old one still sits in the room but is no longer used.
Love the videos but I have 2 complaints, good complaints, wish they were longer and came out more often. Thanks for the extra effort it takes to make these, it is well appreciated!
I would recommend you spray some water on the wave pool pumphouse building. The roof stains sort of stand out when you're on the water slide line. Kind of takes you out of the illusion of the fun and friendly park to have dark spots on that roof.
I'm so glad I was watching when you put the noise warning on, thanks. I've been a maintenance mechanic for a few months and all the pneumatic mixers etc. get to me sometimes
Hi if you add an oil system to the end existing filter system and use some pneumatic oil like velocite 10 or similar then the seals, piston rods and the DCV'S will last longer you just need to add to the PM schedule to top up the oil system. Great video by the way.
Hmmm. You could try a mist oil air lubricator for your seals although some manufactures (such as Festo) recommend against lubricating the cylinders as it collects more dust. Have you guys ever considered stainless steel cylinders that are more resistant to corrosion?
@@thepoolguy I work in the hose products division, so I'm not sure. However I can ask the engineers about that. This channel has become a favorite of mine, solid gold content sir. Technology Connections sent me here!
Nice video. I like the behind-the-scenes look that we usually do not get to see. One question, Are the pumps made by Aurora Pump? I only ask because they look like a Pentair pump and I have worked at the North Aurora facility for 31 years but rarely see our product "in the wild". Weg is one of our principal motor suppliers and the End Suction casings are the color of the casings that we import from China. Although both the motor and pump would have left our facility repainted Pentair Blue.
Why do you not install air oilers on on the compressed air feed to the pistons, it will oil the pistons from the inside and that would oil the seals and make everything move free and last longer?
Interesting to see the wave machine valves in test mode. The problem I saw, I wonder if this happened at Letchworth which resulted in blowing air bubbles in to the pool.
6:40 I've watched a few videos and don't understand why there's a major reduction in pipe diameter either side of the pump. Could someone explain this to me please?
Hey there, this video here might help you understand. th-cam.com/video/L1BgjJ1JssU/w-d-xo.html Essentially, we are taking a smaller diameter input and output and increasing its size to meet the flow demand. However, these reducers are very special.
I see the air Cylinder's, and valves having issues. For me using a bunch of them for our bucket scales, the smaller air cylinders tend to gunk up inside. I think part of it is the air likes being disconnected after use to be cleaned. But when I would do here on those air valves is install an auto Air oil lube into the ait system. So it adds a little air lube into the air system to keep those air valves working as they are always getting a tiny bit of air lube. I can't do that in my case as I'm working around food, even though I do use Food-grade Air Lube. But there, that's not a problem. It's also not just being opened up to be cleaned like in my case which makes things much better. You just have to fill up the Air Lube device once in a while with more Air Lube. That doesn't take very long and is easy to do. That should make all the Air control Valves and the air cylinders last much longer. Just a little Air Lube will go a long way. I've never heard of using grease in them.
I've had air water separators leak before, if it is leaking out of the bottom I pull it apart and clean and reseat that diaphragm, most common leak on those is due to metal particulate from either the compressor or the pipes
is that piston valve not controlled by logic? wouldnt it be 24v if it was logic controlled? also horrible location for all that air dryer stuff move it away from the water getting on them making them rusted.
