That took me back. TV Comic in the 1970s, the Doctor livingh in a cottage (presumably provided by UNIT), showing inquisitive scientists around...bore very little relation to the TV version! Lovely job of bringing it back to life and sharing.
I wonder why in comics they referred to the main character as "Doctor Who" as if that was his actual name, rather than the name of the series? I remember this used to irritate me even at the time, as a young boy and avid "Countdown" reader...
The 'art' of Dr Who comics has been a lost for a while now. This would be a well drawn comic regardless of the subject matter. It's arguably the best DW comic produced at the time.
@@CloisterRoom I think somebody on TvTropes went through every "X of Y" title in the history of Doctor Who and found that "Planet of the Daleks" was *the* most likely combination.

Great video. Thanks for putting this together.
I’m old enough to have read the originals as a kid. TV Comic, TV Action, and Look-In, etc. Brought back many memories seeing this again!

The fact that the credits on the TV series listed him as "Doctor Who" (or "Dr. Who") for 18 years undoubtedly helped create the confusion.
Brilliant. I think this actually started in Countdown and finished in TV Action, rather than TV Comic, but that's just me being pedantic!

'Dr Who will be brought to the Planet of the Daleks!' - I mean, not on the nose at all.
you can do anything in a frilly shirt
What are the odds? Was this made before or after the tv story?
@@oliverasensio9429 it’s before
@@CloisterRoom yeah figures. I wonder if Terry nation secretly read the comics…
@@oliverasensio9429 maybe they had to get his approval for storylines? I suppose a story with that title was inevitable!
@@CloisterRoom seems likely yeah.
