Thanks for this very interesting interview. I will definitely buy the book. I met Andrew Lownie at Charroux Literary festival and should have met him at a later one which got cancelled because of the covid drama. He is a charming man, and was attentive to all comers. Thanks for the research.
Thanks to people like Andrew Lownie who is loyal to royalty in general this part of history doesn't remain silent. Very true that some people are not self aware about the kind of example they are often setting for children until coming of age and then as adults about what they have just done sometimes too. Not all people who suddenly become isolated from all other previous meaningful friendships can remain pragmatic, self composed day to day while not being clingy and vulnerable too. In fact people like that are kind of scary.
Did Hess crash near Strathaven in Scotland? I'll Google but my Mum knew about this. She was a nurse in Stonehouse. Found some info. It varies. The Duke of Hamilton gets a mention.
Can I ask about the role of state councillor as I've recently heard King Charles is looking for suitable accommodation for his son Harry and Harry's wife. If they return to the UK I personally am finished with the monarchial system in this country. I think I'm saying I don't want to see the end of the Monarchy but they have to stop sending mixed messages to the public.
Obviously people in the past were frightened of the monarchy (tower of London) and I believe this feeling was part of the culture so most stories tended to be favourable.
I have never heard anyone accuse the Duke of being bisexual before. This guy just does it casualty. If he was being blackmailed by a male lover, it is a big deal in those days. It's a red flag when a writer just throws out an accusation like that without backing it up. It makes this seem more sensational than serious scholarship.
I do wonder if Mrs Simpson had to marry him or they would have her arrested??..because I read she wanted to go back to her x husband, she could of been black mailed couldn't she.
But I don't think he saw the letters Blount got from Kronberg castle! But maybe Putin will let him see the photos of them which Blount took and handed over to his Russian handlers!

Te royals are a disgrace now and will not give access to the public about much information both financial and private😊
Excellent interview. Amazingly information. Thank you for making this available via internet. Glad I found your channel.
It's brilliant.
Just discovered Andrew. Thank you for your work.

The similarities beyween Harry and Bertie are remarkable.
Grifters who found each other! Had to be horrific for Alan Lascelles!

I brought the book on holiday - completely drawn in to this piece of history. We really dodged a bullet getting rid of Edward.
❤😊❤ Andrew
I have a similar attitude toward the Monarchy. That they have a value and a place but shouldn’t be above fair scrutiny.

It’s been reported that Dickie had a ménage à troís with his wife and Nehru, disgusting…
Nothing Wylie writes is unserious
He had a very close relationship with Dickie Mountbatten who had an open marriage with Edwina , both of whom were bisexually promiscuous.
Buy the book then and find out
Nothing in this book is said without evidence. The Royal Family would deal with blackmailers.
