  • First time pulling the bike out in a few months. Tried to get it started a few weeks ago but did NOT wanna start. We spent some time cleaning her up and fixing a few easy things to knock off the list. Best birthday ever! Literally.. its been a long winter and I am really looking forward to spending some time in the garage.

If you wash it before you abandon it for many months its always easier cleaning. Shut off the fuel petcock a few blocks from home. It drains the float bowl as you ride home and you will always have fresh fuel for starting next time.

My uncle used to shut off the petcock at the same spot on the way back home, and the engine was stopping while he had reached to the driveway. Note that he spent his entire life in the same house, and rode the same motorcycle from 1971 to 2013, until he passed away.

Awesome! I really like the XT! It was super clean when I first got it but after wrecking it over and over it has held up extremely well!! It’s amazing for trail riding because the seat height is so low and tractors up the difficult parts but good pick! I’m lookin forward to learn a lot on the trails! Do you have any complaints?

@@SickofOhio None so far, like you said, low seat height and a tractor for sure. We got it for my wife but I knew I would be stealing it when I can....

Get some Seafoam (fuel additive). It’ll clean all that out.

It doesnt take much, make sure to read the measurements on the bottle. I put it in all my bikes before winter hits to keep the gas from getting nasty. Hope it works bud!

Hi, I have a 2001 xt225 and I am missing the philips head screws that
hold the airbox cover on, and I am also missing the bolt that you need
to remove from the plastic body piece to access the cover, would you be
able to find out those sizes for me? I am trying tog et my bike running
but I cant find them anywhere and I cant find this info online. Thank
    you!

    • @SickofOhio
      @SickofOhio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey man, sorry for the late reply! you can get a nuts and bolts kit for Yamaha or you can head over to Bikebandit.com to find the correct size / part#. If all else fails you can contact a local dealer and they should be able to order the exact part# from the manufacturer for no shipping cost. Good luck brother!

@@SickofOhio Hey guys just found your channel! I bought an 98 XT with 900 miles on for 950 about ten years ago and loved that bike! was just getting back into riding then so it was perfect. Always cold blooded unless it was 90 degrees outside so I let it run on choke for around five minutes then it was good . Used only non ethanol premium and a little marvel mystery oil in fuel and never once had to take carb apart in 9000 miles! Sold it last year to a buddy and I miss that old girl!! Cheers!
Also if you have not heard of it, check out XT225.com for good info and parts for these! RC

You can buy a Chinese bike for 1500 new or...
Buy a yamaha for a 700 - 1000 and put the diferens at reaper and costome
Plus you save a classic peace

    • @SickofOhio

Completely agree! Plus the reliability is nice and parts are easy to find.
