Two words: trickle charger. They usually come with a quick disconnect that way you don’t have to pull the battery all the time. Hell I don’t even take them out for winter anymore cause of it and I’ll get 4-5 years easy out of a bike battery. As for the rest learn how to do the basics with carbs and you’ll be fine in 99% on most cases. In your case I’d drain the gas from the tank and carb, add fresh gas. Add a new spark plug, Get her running and warmed up, open the air box then spray some carb cleaner in the air box while she’s running. If that doesn’t help I’d pull the carb and clean it and the jets. But I’d probably up jet her a little while I had the carb off since those tend to run pretty lean from the factory. Helps a ton with cold starting.
😂 yeah I heard just a little bit is more than enough but I also watched some guy dump half of a bottle directly into his carb and holy crap it was a smoke show 😂 hopefully it helps the carb jets and grime or whatever is going on. Thanks for the comment!! 😂👍
I just got the same levers haha. Way too much play up and down but works. Definitely put the barkbusters on. I like the seafoam idea. Haven't done that yet. Just cleaned the carb and it runs a little lean so adjustment is in the next day or 2. Is yours a 2004? Its literally the exact same color scheme, thats why I ask. Great video! Thanks.
The XT225 was stopped in 2007 in the US market and has quite a following. Slightly lighter than the XT250 it also had a 6th gear due to the smaller engine. The XT250 has the same seat height and in 2013 added fuel injection as a standard feature. This helps starting the bike and warmup much easier. Depending on which reviews you read the XT250 just feels more powerful. Add it the 14T sprocket and it really comes alive while still maintaining decent street speed. It's debatable whether either has an advantage in suspension with both being acceptable but at a reduced speed compared to more performance oriented bikes. Really can't go wrong with either especially for the rider whose is looking for a true dual sport with manageable manners both on the road and off... Parts are still available for the XT225 and obviously the still manufactured XT250 as well...
@@ngzcaz Thanks, I weigh 220, so I'm thinking the XT250 may not have the power to get me up certain hills, But the KLX250 & the CFR250 have about 5 more HP, which might be what I need, so still shopping around for a spring purchase, just not sure which one yet..

I have a 2005 and still on the original Yuasa battery. Everyone needs a trickle charger if you dont ride in the off season.

Yep I agree, I take all the batteries out and charge them up downstairs on the bench the few months I’m not riding. I’ll do that tho 👍

I've never read the directions on seafoam lol. I always just pour it in and see what happens. It's lead to some fun times and smoke screens.
