  • This is a video showing the multitasking capabilities of the Apple workstation based on PowerPC G4 CPUs. Built in 2002/2003, it was the last of the G4 series, later replaced by the more performance G5. The program that records screen activity requires a lot of resources and a large part of these are absorbed by this one. Nonetheless, the Mac manages to handle the huge workload very well by slowing down but NEVER crashing.

      OSx Leopard has excellent credit, which has improved the Powermac's capabilities. And I have to tell you that on the 2.7 GHz Dual G5 with 6Gb of ram with a 1350Mhz bus (On the G4 it is a 167Mhz bus !!!), it does not enjoy the same responsiveness despite being faster. Surely the 3rd level cache present in the G4 (well 2Mb per CPU is a huge deal, while on the G5 there is only the 2nd level 512Kb per cpu) makes that miracle of multitasking possible.
