    13:37 Overlord! That's an anime that is kind of hard for me to say is good, but is one that I really like. It's a pretty standard vrmmo isekai concept. Guy is hanging out in his guild on the last day before the servers are shut down, but instead of being kicked off the server, the guild is sent to a fantasy world. All of the guilds npcs come alive and now this guy is living as his max level character with all of his guild resources in a new unfamiliar world. There's some of the expected incel gamer stuff like every female character is now madly in love with him, but the world building and story are very interesting. Definitely worth checking out if you don't mind a bit of isekai slop.

      I see! That's the impression I got from playing the Picross game, I did go through some of the scenes and dialogues, but when I saw it was moreso meant for someone already familiar with the world, I kinda skipped the rest. Still not sure why they picked Overlord of all animes to crossover into a Picross game 😆

    • @ZacChilds
      @ZacChilds 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm 30 seconds into the game and they've already brushed past 3 seasons of the show, it's definitely meant for someone caught up with it.

    This was really fun to watch! I do love these videos where you chat with us, would love for you to do another q&a at some point next year, maybe when you hit 5k? I haven't played that many games this year, but did have a lot of fun with Stray and Outer Wilds which I tried for the first time, and played Hogwarts Legacy too cause I love Harry Potter. Pretty intrigued by Papers, Please after hearing you talk about it so will definitely try that out soon! Merry Christmas to you ^^

      Indeed planning another Q&A once I reach 5k! should be around February or March if things stay as they are. You can't miss with Stray and Outer Wilds, two of my favorites EVER! I think Papers Please is fantastic, though I could see some people finding it a bit stressful since you're timed, but consider taking notes to make things easier for yourself! I hope you'll have fun with it. Merry Christmas! :)

    Merry X'mas! This was a fun watch, definitely adding a few of these games to my queue. Looking forward to the movies list!
    My top 3, in no particular order:
    Disco Elysium - self-explanatory, it was the best timing that you started releasing your playthrough soon after I was done. It became a real extension to my experience.
    Chants of Sennaar - incredibly fun puzzle game centered around deciphering different languages. Very addictive gameplay with just the right level of difficulty. Awesome world-building, and the art style is so good too. The feeling of exploration and uncovering the unknown was very similar to Tunic, even though they're so different. One of my top puzzle games of all time because not only is the gameplay super fun, there is also a whole world and story behind it that you discover.
    Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective - You play as a ghost who tries to figure out how he died through cool puzzle mechanics and charming storytelling. The story and characters for this one were unexpectedly really amazing. Being that it is a remastered game, the art and music brings back the nostalgic feeling of old school games while still being polished and unique, standing the test of time. An overall very special game strong in both gameplay and narrative, and there's no other game like it.

    • @LukaelPlays

(: I was kinda surprised to see your ranking of Subnautica, it's easily in top-5 games of all time for me (: but I understand that it's very subjective.
    Unfortunately I barely played any new games this year due to some RL issues. From the ones I replayed I would definitely name "The Long Dark" and "House Flipper 2" as my top choices.

    Top 5 games I played this year: 1) Rain World: Downpour, 2) Animal Well, 3) 1000xRESIST, 4) Rise of the Golden Idol, 5) Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. I hope you get to some of them on the channel next year. :)

      @LukaelPlays  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That sounds like a really excellent top 5! Heard nothing but great things about Rain World and Animal Well, they're on my to do list indeed! So are Golden Idol and Shadow of Erdtree! Haven't heard much about 1000xResist, do you think it's a game that would work for a Let's Play?

    • @snakebyte036
      @snakebyte036 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @LukaelPlays I think so. It's along the lines of Firewatch and the Telltale games. The story is one of the best I've ever experienced in a game, it has good voice acting and very cool artsy direction, and overall it's just a really unique and fresh experience. It seems like it's flown under a lot of people's radar, so I have no idea how well it would do on the channel, but I highly recommend it even if you don't end up recording it.

    Merry Christmas! I wonder if you would like Grim Fandango. You play a grim reaper/travel agent in the afther life but it feels like a detective's kinda work because it's a puzzle game. It's a point and click game in four chapters where you have to move trough different areas, interacts with objects and caracters, to solve the puzzles of the chapters to get to the next chapter. The puzzles can be quite challenging some times. It's originally form 1998 and was remastered in recent years. The story is interesting with good caracters and great music. During a steam sale, you can get it for less than 10$ and a play trough is about 10 to 20 hours.

    Great video, i know it took long to make but it was worth it, would watch again next year :) As for my top games, I'm a kind of slump this year, i just keep trying games, and nothing sticks. The only thing I think i played all the way through was Shadow of the Erdtree, and it's not even a separate game, even though it's as big and as amazing as one. Had my favorite boss fight ever in Mesmer. And exploration was perfect, same as the main game. So that's the only one i can wholeheartedly say I loved this year.

    I love these types of unscripted videos!! Didn't know you played so many games I must say I am really curious can we have another one with top surprises or worst games? Or maybe some insight whats next on the agenda for 2025?? For me my biggest surprise this year was infinity nikki (unfortunately a gatcha game),...never thought I was going to play something like it but so far its pretty nice but yeah I have to agree with you I personally like small compact games like Deaths door and more recently for me The Pathless. Glad to see that not many ended up in the meh or bad category!

    • @LukaelPlays
      @LukaelPlays  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Biggest surprises? Hrmm well I did end up loving Papers Please, Triangle Strategy, and Disco Elysium more than I thought I would! For worst games, it's hard to say, I never really finish games I don't like, so I can't remember which were the worst ones. Most of em were pretty good!
      Infinity Nikki looks very polished, seeing a lot of people get into it, so I can see someone getting surprisingly into it! just a shame that it's gacha, these games would be so much better without it

    Hello! I didn't play a lot of games this year but I discovered some of my all time favorites. I played and finished 11 games (...and some recurring multiplayer like Dee Rock Galactic and Rocket League), in order of my personal "liking" system from 1 to 100:
    1: Disco Elysium 93
    2: Control 92
    3: Tunic 91
    4: Spiritfarer 91
    5: It Takes Two 90
    6: Teardown 90
    7: Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 86
    8: Uncharted 4 85
    9: Ace Combat 7 84
    10: Omno 83
    11: Hue 83
    My all time faves are:
    1: Outer Wilds 98
    2: Okami 96
    3: Metal Gear Solid 3 95
    4: God of War Ragnarok 95
    5: What Rem. of Edith Finch 94
    Do you by any chance have a list of your all-time favorite games? I would love to know at least your top 5. Happy Holidays!
    PS: If you haven't already played it, please consider Spiritfarer, one of the most emotional games I've ever played!!
    PPS: since you said you watched more movies than whatever our guess would be, I'm gonna say 96, I'll be extremely surprised if you went over a hundred tho

      Oh man, it would be hard to pick a top 5, I do have a top 30 somewhere in my community posts on the channel, you can try to find it! Top 5 off the top of my head maybe, Outer Wilds, Shadow of the Colossus, Gravity Rush, Final Fantasy X, Hollow Knight? something like that!
      Good guess with the 96 movies, it's actually around DOUBLE that, I watched 184! 😄
      Oh man you must have been so happy about that Okami sequel announcement! I played it for a bit a looong time ago but I can't remember if I finished it...

    Although I haven't played many of these games, it was fun seeing your ranking and reasons why. Makes me want to rank my yearly games from now on 😅
    I didn't complete as many games this year as usual due to some longer games and falling into a bit of obsession with Fallout 76 (somehow at 1300+ hours, yeesh), but mine are below in the order I played them in...
    1) The Wild At Heart - very cute chill game with a touching story
    2) Inscryption - my 4th time 100% the game as it's one of my all time favorites, enough said
    3) Deliver Us Mars - narrative driven sequel, pretty good
    4) Monster Hunter Rise & Sunbreak- amazing with a friend, loads of content
    5) Cloudpunk - indie with a very cool art style and soundtrack. Gameplay itself isn't great, but still enjoyed
    6) Fallout 76 - good on its own, great with friends. Pretty sweet community compared to other online games
    7) No Man's Sky - beautiful with an intriguing story if you dig. Feels shallow next to a game like Subnautica (just can't match a carefully curated world & creatures that make sense)
    8) Remnant 2 - very fun with a friend, interesting worlds/story, ending left a bit to be desired for me
    9) Dead Island 2 - again very fun with a friend, looks and feels great
    10) LISA: The Painful Definitive Edition - my GOTY, fun, funny, heartbreaking, absurd, all with an amazing chaotic soundtrack I haven't been able to put down since
    11) LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga - good chill fun with a friend, no lack of content
    Just started Tunic myself, I've avoided your playthrough and all other content related to it so I can have a blind experience, it seems to be my kind of game so far so looking forward to experiencing it fully, and then finally being able to experience it through other people here on YT haha.
    May 2025 be another great year of gaming for us all ❤

One of the best games ive ever played is Octopath Traveler 2 and even that i did not completely finish... but thats just me it takes nothing away from the games. Damn it. I accidentally refreshed the browser and lost a long comment again. Um let's try to redo this real quick, so I can get where I left off.
    I only got like 20% through your Tears of the Kingdom playthrough. There is something about the game I don't like that I cannot easily figure out. I mean it has the same overall design of any other Zelda game, so I think all it could be is the art style. I can't really justify it, because it doesn't look bad, but it could just be that I never got into East Asian culture, be it Japanese, Chinese, Korean. Never played Final Fantasy, watched dragonball Z, etc. Now I do like the area from an academic, historical perspective, including architecture. And when I was young some of their religions spoke more to what I called my spiritualism than anything the west came up with. Maybe it's just that I unconsciously associate it with the first person who broke my heart and the games we played together back then. But you know, I only ever played 3 games from the franchise, 1 to completion, so it's never been a favorite for me, despite having had a lot of fun with it.
    Subnautica is a fun and popular game, but exceptional? No way. It's kind of a one and done once you know the plot, because it doesn't stand on its own as a combat, survival, or crafting game. Except for the tech upgrades following the plot. But after your first playthrough you know exactly where to go. And since these things are even weaker in BZ, that is even more of a one and done. I actually tried to play a second time, on hardcore for once, when you were getting near the end of your playthrough. I didn't finish, because it's just not that engaging/ rewarding.
    Pleased to see Dave the Diver under the Excellent category. I take the ranking of games named after me PERSONALLY.
    God damnit, did you really have to play the heartbreak song while talking about Disco? I am barely hanging on here. Not really, but damn it. I am glad you enjoyed the game, because my other favorite content creators just did not get into it.
    I'm glad you put this video up, no one else I follow has uploaded anything since Saturday. I have never been much of a holiday celebrator myself, but this is the first year I have not had anyone to be around. Feeling kind of restless, so it is good to have a little distraction like this.
    As I've said elsewhere, once I got into arboriculture 4 years ago, my gaming stopped, due to mental and physical exhaustion. I am curious if Steam says I played anything this year.
    Doesn't look like it. In 2023 there are a couple games that I put less than 10 hours into. Long Dark, Shipbreaker, TW Shogun 2. In the past four years the only games I played all the way through were Astroneer, and Survival Fountain of Youth. Besides games that you also covered on the channel, and there probably was a Fallout 4 run or two in there. Doing YOLO was fkcn amazing. I suppose that games I really love just take too much time to really get going in, but games that are short just don't grab me all that well. I am more likely to put 1000+ hours into ten games, than 100 hours into 100 games.
    Right well. Catch you later this week, enjoy the holiday. :)

      I find it interesting that you have multiple potential reasons why you didn't get into TotK, you seem like a very introspective person, but truth is sometimes we just don't vibe with a game for whatever reason 🤷 It's clearly an incredible game from a design and artistic standpoint but that doesn't mean everyone will get into it!
      I was sorta hesitant to even upload anything for Christmas and New Year since a lot of people will be busy, but I also know that a lot of people sometimes spend that time alone and can use the distraction, so I'm glad to hear that was the case here for you. I get what you mean about spending LOTS of time into a few games, rather than a lot, I have a friend who's very much like that! His year just consists of hundreds or thousands of hours in the same 2-3 games as usual, plus a few more attempts at others on the side. I think I gravitate toward shorter games a bit more, because completing them gives me that illusion that I actually accomplished something or made progress somehow. Towards what, I don't really know. Have a good one, DAVE! 😄
