- If you watch my channel, you know that many of my videos are on Coin Roll Hunting. Typically, I purchase rolls of circulated coins at the bank, and look for errors, varieties, or rare and valuable coins.
Recently I've become interested in a different type of Coin Roll Hunting - searching Original Bank Wrapped (OBW) rolls of uncirculated coins, looking for die varieties - particularly Doubled Dies (DDOs and DDRs) and Re-Punched Mint Marks (RPMs).
Normally you'd have to purchase an entire roll of old OBW coins to do a search like this, but Chuck Daughtrey and Eric Beyer at Coppercoins (@coppercoins) have made this very accessible to the average collector. You can actually purchase just 1 coin or maybe a few coins from a roll, along with other collectors. Chuck and/or Eric will search the roll on a live stream and identify and attribute any die varieties. At the very least you'll get some nice old BU coins, but you might just get lucky (like I did!!) and find a recognized die variety!

Super Nice, James! Years ago I bought many bank wrapped uncirculated cents. If you buy the right years and mints they would definitely payoff in varieties. Great cent collection even for a Canadian. LOL
It's definitely getting better by leaps and bounds thanks to my American friends!
Great looking coins. You're album is really coming along nicely.
Thanks, Tom!
I see you at the auction all the time, love coppercoins🤙🏻👍👍
Hey, Thanks for watching!!
Awesome buys and collection 😀
Thank you 😁
I have a further video idea, you should show your whole collection including your coin book because I’m trying to store my coins 👍
Definitely something to consider!
Cadrollhunter thank you so much I was wishing a place like this exists and it does. Thanks to you I may be able to complete my collection. I hope they do Canadian coins too.
They only do US coins, But I'd recommend giving it a try!
That’s fine I’ll give them a try for my us penny collection. Thanks
Great acquisitions!
Thanks!
👌😊❤ Those are beautiful coins.
I think so too!
Very cool.
I love seeing those older coins in such beutiful conditions. I also wanted to ask you as i dont know much about canadian coinage what you think a proof mint set from 1964 is worth?
That is a great question. I think about $48 Canadian. We didn't have true proof sets in 1964, but collector sets would be considered "proof-like."
Thanks for you answer i did not know that you had different finishes other than normal strikes or proofs so i thougt it must be proofs. I paid a little under 13€ per set...
You got a great deal!
Awesome coins for the albums! Some real beauties you got there!
Totally non-related question here, if you don't mind...I've gone through countless rolls of quarters, and am unable to find a 2017-RCM Caribou. Have you been able to find any? I know it must sound weird, but it's one of the last spots that isn't filled in my album...
No 2017 caribou were released in circulation - only in sets. The Mint's records, however, show million of the being minted. I can't account for that discrepancy. Either they were never minted, or minted and never released. Likely the former. I just don't know what the mintage figures for 2017 relate to.
@@CADRollHunter Very interesting! I really appreciate this information, James...it's had me confused for ages, and had me wondering why I couldn't fill the spot in my album. I wonder why they made a slot for it...
Thanks again!
Hey James, haven’t you accidentally put that stunning 1937S penny in spot for 1937D?
Good eyes! I think you're right. I'll need to get that fixed up! Thanks for letting me know!!
