I was planning to place an order for either the Viwood or Boox the day Supernote dropped the Manta - been waiting for awhile to get one for the A5x2 and just never knew if it was going to arrive. I pivoted back and ordered the Manta on launch day but now it looks like I was too late for the first run so I'm looking at 15 days before shipping which is pretty frustrating for ordering on launch day. I can't believe they didn't plan well enough for this. We will see if it's worth it after all the waiting.
If they did not delay The A5X2 I would have never got the A6X2 Nomad. I since discovered the nomad size was way better for my uses over larger tablets.
I've also pre-ordered the Manta and am so glad that the device has finally gone on sale. I honestly don't really care very much what it looks like; I simply need it for work, and that is where the whole Supernote interface and platform perform splendidly! I love the Nomad and can't wait to get the Manta. And when Supernote finally bring out an A4 version, I'll order that too.
@@dhrtiwalter8670 It's long been rumored that Supernote will also release the same type of tablet in an A4 size to complement the A6 (Nomad) and the A5 (Manta).
I am a patient person: Journey this year: Best Ball Point Pen(Saris)/Then Best Useful Fountain Pen(Pilot)/ Next got iPad did not like the writing experience/so looked for Nomad to replace Journal(it was perfect)/waited for Manta(even though Go 10.3 came out)/ Also watts for Air 4C/However needed a A4 non colour version oh my Note Max now the wait is going to be over. The Journey to E-ink and replacing paper for the most part is over(The battery lire is executable/and the colours of Air 4C) I could not have made those choices without the overview of talented individuals like you Mr. Kit. Thank you for Teaching/Comparing/showing us all the path options we can take for our productivity Journey.
US store is pre-order. My problem is I’ve tried the other devices, I have a Boox Go 10.3 and sold my A5X and purchased a nomad, because I’m obsessed with my HOM2 pen…that writing experience is unmatched IMHO. Love your content Kit!
As an owner of the A5X, I'd love to live in a world where Ratta had the time and resources to branch out more on their product line without losing what makes their products so good. I just can't see buying another A5 sized device, but would heavily consider an A4 sized one, or something that was directed towards other use cases that the Supernotes don't already succeed at. My ideal next purchase would be something with the power of the Boox Tab line, a big screen, and Ratta's polish and good writing feel. I eagerly await the impossible.
I'm one of those who went with Remarkable because the A5X2 was starting to look like vapourware. I'm now in love with my RPP even though Supernote had some features I wanted.
@dhrtiwalter8670 Pro. I had tried the Boox Note Air 3C and thought it was OK, but a week after I got it, the 4C came out. Plus, I wasn't that struck on the colour. I returned it, planning on waiting for the Note Max. In the meantime, my husband bought me a Remarkable Paper Pro. On first use, I thought the feel of the screen was not as good as the Boox. I also struggled with the lack of being able to integrate with One Note, create shapes, custom templates, and so on. Then, a switch flipped in my brain, and I saw the RPP as a replacement for my paper notebook. That's when I fell in love with it. There are things I would like to see on the Remarkable. Shapes - which are in an upcoming release. The ability to load native PNG to use as clip art, or templates. The ability to position typed text on the page, as I would when I glue typed text I to my paper notebook. Remarkable do seem to be listening to the users, so I expect many of these will come. I'm happy that I have my Kindle for reading, my Samsung tablet for tablety things, and my Remarkable as a distraction free note pad. Kit has said a number of times that it's down to individual workflow. The all in one solution doesn't work for mine. The division of labour suits me perfectly.
A possible reason for not using a crystal back is the screws. I can’t tell what the Nomad has, but screwing metal screws into plastic will eventually loosen and fail. I doubt Ratta want that. Does your (or you wife’s!) Nomad have plastic or metal threaded holes?
I am looking at moving from a Boox Note Air 2 Plus to the Manta. My main use case is note taking and planning. I am wondering if the Manta and the Book Plama 2 would work well as companion devices. I'd be very grateful if Kit or anyone else could confirm if the Supernote App functions on the Boox Palma so I could still access my to do list on the Palma?
Hello Kit, I was wondering if you knew how the file structure between two supernotes worked. For example, if I have an a6x, and I upload its files to the supernote cloud, could I have those same files be on my a5x2 (if I get it) if I use the same supernote account for both? Or are their files irreconcilably separated? This is just an ease of mind question before I get the Manta, because the possibility of having the same files synced up would be a huge bonus for me
The Supernote site for Australia is still indicating Manta pre-sale only, with release commencing early January 2025. I waited but ended up buying a Go 10.3 in late November. Now seeing the price of the Manta I would still make the decision to go with the Go 10.3.
It was for sale in Australia but sold out very quickly. The presale is for the next batch. However, yes, our $ is weak right now and on imported goods like this, we pay the price.
you have colored eink tablets. Remarkable pro, boox note air 4c, boox x, boox tab ultra. There is a big difference in refresh rate and price between thems. A normal tablet will be cheaper
I preordered a few days ago from the European site for the supernote a5x2 manta. It is indeed very expensive, especially for a person in Greece, but I like it incomparably compared to the rest. I waited a year for this order. The shipments will start from what the website said, after January 15, 2025. So more patience will be needed...
I listed my Nomad on eBay -- timed perfectly with the release of the Manta. 😢 I think a lot of the Nomad sales were people wanting some kind of improved Supernote product -- but only had one choice. I figure that my Nomad (with three pens and most of the warranty still in effecct) sold for between $75 and $100 less that if I had listed it 2 or 3 weeks earlier.
I have a boox 3c I really cannot see any point moving on to any a5 device including boox own line, next step has to be an a4, will wait a little longer but not so easy moving from android to a company specify operating system, I would lose a lot of functionality.
The delay? Eh. These devices are wants and not needs. So … whatever. The constant tease was the error here on their part, but it was more mistake than intention. It came out when it was ready. Just like any product. I waited. It's ordered. I hope I love it. The absolutely only concerns I have about the product are (1) it costs an insane amount and I hope I don't regret spending that much on what is really as luxury item, and (2) the ancient Android version. I don't understand why they gravitated toward end of life Android. If you don't sideload applications and if a major security issue doesn't manifest, then it is less of an issue, but … odd.
Let the nit-picking begin! I’ve got the white Nomad as I thought the crystal one would scratch easily and if the screws were over-tightened they could create splits. I think that’s why using crystal on a bigger device with no back protection is not practical. And I personally like the design of Manta as it has character. I’m waiting for shipping on mine in the UK.
There are three possible reasons for a quick sellout. 1) A sudden rise in demand (your "market has responded"; 2) Not enough manufacturing throughput to handle demand of any size; 3) Poor logistics management by Ratta. How do you know it is a rise in market demand, as you say?
I’m just waiting for it to be in a non presale window 😊 it’s still pretty expensive and I got to really weight just how much I’m gonna use it. If I use it then it’s worth the money if I don’t then it’s really expensive. I wish I could test it for 30 days and then return it. I know I can purchase and return it if I don’t like it but I’d like a Redbox kind of way to these 😂 even just the tablet without anything is expensive 🥲 and I’ll be honest I’m not huge on the folio. Either a type folio with the pins or just the clear like you mentioned. I really want that minimal and clean look. I’m not a fan of those two outer pins but I like that they’re trying 😊 I agree with you on that how it looks.
Only if there's something about the older devices which is frustrating you. The chief reason would be to get the 300ppi, and maybe the modularity for future upgrades and device longevity. 🙂
I know you try to stay neutral and not capitalizing on these E-Ink companies with your reviews. But you are doing real world R&D for each one of them. And a much better job of QC. While being a salesperson unknowingly as well. You are a “free” employee to them all. We look to your videos 110% more so than the E-ink advertising. So I feel you should be compensated for all the work you do. In a way that doesn’t step on your personal principals. Keep up the great job bud!!
It's an excellent device, but unfortunately I won't be able to afford it. It would cost me around 900 euros, which is unaffordable. Also, while I was waiting for the device to come out, I figured out that I don't really need it. But still, if I had to buy an e-ink device, it would be the A5X2!
I couldn’t wait in the end I end up getting the boox 10.3 very happy with it,but who knows might start a collection of different e-ink tablets and start my own TH-cam channel 😊
My issue is I don't write this much. In the eu I'm looking at 420 for boox, 565 for a nomad which I'm worked is small, 650 or so for a remarkable and 710 for the manta. Those prices are keeping me off even though I really like the looks.

Everyone tried the others or learned about others trying the others. That's why everyone's buying supernote.
Exactly.
