I am 38 years old and this is still the best movie I’ve ever seen. The story, the plot, the life lessons, that besides Robert Duval’s character makes me remembering my grandfather

He's right. ALL ages. One of THE BEST movies, ever produced. Love the scene where Hub beats up the thug punks, then he takes 'em home and shows them around. New friends, with better manners. I thank the Lord for movies like THIS one ... It's a lot like the TV shows on Saturday mornings back in the '50s. That taught stuff.

To this day, I dearly love this movie. Brings tears to my eyes every time I see it -- A "Face Washer" I call it ... One of the best ever made, IMHO.
One of my favorites. I watch the d.v.d. at least once a month. The bar fight naturally is one of my favorite scenes. Educating unruly youth in manners and respect for their elders. Robert Duvall has never made a bad movie that I know of and Michael Caine was perfect as Garth. Being an Englishman he got the southern or Texas accent perfect. I don't really care for the ending of the movie but how else could it end? As the script read,"they died with their boots on." Amen.

@@noahcamuso2562 I'll answer for him, because they died. Personally, I would have added just a few more seconds of Walter and the shiek's grandson beginning to swap stories.
@@odysseusrex5908 Yeah they died but that was the point, they were done, they had passed the torch, they kept their bargain, they stuck around and had a good long life well worth living, and at its end they said "screw dying of old age, lets go have one last adventure". They never intended to come back, they went to go meet up with Hub's son and Jasmine (both of them) and to wait for Walter to come home in his own time. It doesn't get any better than that. To quote The Bible, 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". GOD I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
There was another ending that was put out for audience review and its results caused a new ending to be used. This one is satisfactory because it is final, just the way they wanted it. I love this film for many reasons.
This is an absolutely great movie......fun to watch multiple times.

These two men Duval and Cain are two of the greatest actors of their times. They have been in many memorable movies, but this, though underrated and less known, is one of their best.

I love this movie! I think that it is one of the greatest movies ever made. My family and I and this includes grandchildren have watched it over and over. They should make more movies like this one.
One of my favorite movies. So manny funny scenes. And I can't imagine how Michael Caine mastered that west texas accent, particularly apparent in the fight scene with Frankie and the hoods. The first time I've seen Caine do anything that wasn't British accent. Must have taken some work, but he nailed it!
I would say that Robert Duvall is my #1 Actor!

My fav part is when Walter is at the bus station. The brothers show if Walter would come back..."Our reailives would hate it." So Walter felt needed. Something his mom did not do.

Hub McCain was the spitting image of my granda Arnold morris when he would meet people he would meet people he would shake there hand say im Arnold morris I fought in 2 world wars worked at buick 44yrsnever missed a day had 9 kids 46 grandkids who heck are you we lived in detroit area grandpa died in 1996 at 76 yrs Olds there over 1400 cars in his funeral prosecission

I bought a copy of Second Hand Lions, and everybody who watches it, thinks it's a great movie. I know I'll watch it more times just for fun.

I use this film in class for students to analyze gender and aging. I always start to chuckle imagining Hub and Garth as Scoutmasters.
