🎯 Class of ‘21 61 yrs old, never camped until 1st night on trail, less than a year of hiking experience, knee & hip replaced, uncomfortable with heights … life changing ✨

Wow. #1 factor is the will. If the will is there, then there is usually a way.
      - Second Chance
      - Sochi
      - Daredevil and Perfect Storm
      - Caveman Chris
      - Semper Gumby (me)
Physical hinderances slow us down, but don't stop us.
My spinal fusions are really minor compared with disabilities of other hikers listed above. One of them not so much an issue anymore btw, but missing limbs and eyesight are basically permanent.
      Hike on

@@paulrevere2379 Totally agree! I call your will your “Why” as in why are you doing the hike. A strong why keeps you out there through the bad days. My why was not to finish. It was to honor my best friend Trooper 🐾(RIP).

I'm a fan of Joe's Donuts further down slope (easy bus ride) in Sandy. Better choices and prices for resupply there too. Not everyone is a rich tourist hiker.

And we NEED to STOP promoting obesity as “your truth”and we should be wearing it like a proud badge. I’m not even going to touch on physical appearances, but you are killing yourself slowly with all these sugar packed foods, with no nutritional value..we should be promoting “HealthFirst”, so these women can see we have a medical condition we can die of,at any moment. God forbid you be alone when it happens, because you have an 80% increased risk of heart attacks, and so many other completely unnecessary complications we subject ourselves too. This is all Big Pharma ladies!! If you don’t stay sick, they can’t keep peddling their bullshit tinctures and creams,or pills, or drinks..🙄 the fitness/weight loss industry grosses approx 70 billion..for the year.😳 why really tell us how to get better? They make more money keeping us sick. And I’m so angry about that..

I suggest you learn the song "You'll never walk alone" done by Gerry and the Pacemakers and others, but most moving imo when sung by a stadium of Liverpool fans.
Actually a PCT story behind this (2019), but not my main point.
There will always be more excuses. Those who go are more like you than you realize, IF you replace "one day" with Day 1.
Other hikers will help you figure things out, just don't exceed your own pace. It's not a race.
Even a snail can climb Mount Fuji, and not all PCT hikers are marathoners, not even close.
