Just ask them to run their meter if they don't want to turn on their meter just get another taxi I have gone thru that a few times but they always end up turning on their meter just have to tell them otherwise tell them you will turn them in the LTO

I often had issues with taxi drivers from landing in mactan to get to cebu, most want a fixed price and when I said just put the meter on they didn't like it and often refused so I wait for another taxi 😅

Yes hahaha. When I'm about to arrived I saw the meter not on so I immediately searched how much is the grab cost so I have idea and gave him reason to down the price. 😊
You should only use Grab in Manila, especially you know it already, because it's always a problem with all other Taxi.
Use Grab and pay nice tip to the driver, because they have bad payment

Ahh those taxis! Long ago when it was still MIA, I got a metered taxi, gave him a street and address. I knew where I was going. Next thing I know he drives past my street! I had a hard time getting him to turn around. He acted angry about it. Trying to run up the meter. His act was very funny.

It is taxi scam in a lot of countries to drive foreigners around the city if they don`t know the city. My dance teacher once told the story when he was in Moscow he needed to go from one train station where he arrived to other train station and local taxi driver offered to take him for some good money but he did not expect that my teacher knew that the other station is basically just across the street :D
Every Taxi driver I used in Cebu tried to cheat Me. Even when They used the meter. The Government needs to stop this from happening. Have a good trip in Manila.

Manila taxi dont use the meters that's the way they are but cebu different they do use meter our hotel told use always use grab so you wont be charge high rates.
I used grab since then.
Blubird taxis were always good in Indonesia. Always used the meter and were honest.

Kaya din talaga ako sumasakay ng taxi cmula nalaman ko ang grab kasi napakamahal at natatakot na ako masingilan ng mataas di ako panatag.kapag grab ang sakyan ko makapahinga ako bg maluwagvkay sa taxi.. tindi ng singilan dyan nadala na talaga ako.from airport to pitx dati 500 smantalang 240 lang sa grab.
I used only Grab everywhere in Philippines to avoid such taxi scams. The same was in Indonesia arriving in Jakarta when I had booked Gojek already and such taxi scamers were offering for price twice as much as I hade my Gojek :) Totally different situation in Singapoure where all taxis use meters and meters are checked by government and if any scam is detected driver loose taxi licence for life
Yes I learn my lesson here in my own country haha. I used grab also everytime I go visit new country. It makes me feel safe too.

Di ka ba nag complain teh? kasi diba nga pumila ka dun sa booth tas before you enter the taxi bibigyan ka ng paper kung saan nakasulat yung details ng sakyan mo? mas cgro kasi masosolve tong mga engot pag maraming collected evidences na narereport.

Dread using taxis period in the Philippines. They are basically a Frontline experience for any tourist there but sadly they fail 99% of the time. With apps like Uber and Grab making inroads globally taxis will gradually decline.

Yes. The last time I landed in Manila, it was last in the evening and not many taxis. Myself and my sons jumped in the 1st taxi and asked to go to our hotel which was in Pasay, near Mall of Asia. Lots of traffic but when we got there I gave the driver a 1,000 pesos bill and told him to keep the change. Remember, I am a tourist and not used to the costs in Manila. It seemed an OK cost to me, comparable to airport taxi rides in Australia. It was only days later and many taxi rides later, that it started to occur to me that I paid way too much for the airport ride. The meter was not turned on during the airport journey. Having said that, I don't know how the drivers make a living, given the horrendous traffic, upkeep on their cars etc.etc.
Not only did you pay wayyy too much, you encourage them to try to scam locals and tourist alike. Never overpay by such an extravagant amount
I did use Grab after that, booked by a Hotel
Clean vehicle polite driver and 3 time the distance cost one third of the airport taxi.
@@Fitzaism most the time it's worth it, plus they use grabs maps for directions so they don't get lost like taxis can
