@@RBTheMechanic is it true that it helps engine performance and helps save gas?
@@frankipalacios5390 performance yes gas no but if this is not working engine will run sluggish so it might have effect of gas as well
Great how to video! Looks easy enough. Ima diy’er and gonna attempt to change this exact part in a bit. Thank you!
Virginia Gonzalez ok let me know how it went
RB The Mechanic didn’t work. I changed the solenoid, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor and oil. I also heard it may be the little black box on ignition housing. Tried changing that but don’t know how to relearn the key. I’ve tried every video possible
Virginia Gonzalez well some of these have problems due to stretched timing chain and guids
Virginia Gonzalez might want to look in to the timing but it’s heck of a job usually the guides wear out and timing geoes off causes stall hard start long crank on start up
RB The Mechanic thank you! I will look into that
Good job amigo
Thank you buddie!
my old solenoid was missing a couple of those metal screens. should they be stuck in there? how do I get them out?
U can try checking but it might be deep deep inside
Thanks.
Always here to help thank you for viewing my video you can always msg me for any type of repairs
Part # ?? Camshaft sensor
I don’t have part number
I've changed the VVT solenoid and camshaft position sensor. VVT works fine (I can hear the audible change), but it still wants to drop to 500rpm or lower when slowing down (30mph to 5mph). I need to do the crankshaft position sensor next, but I was reading that it needs Tech-II to reprogram. The truck runs great and gets 22mpg per tank, it's honestly confusing. I'm almost due for an oil change again, what would be the recommended oil for the Vortec-2800?
Oil change I’m not sure but try cleaning the throttle body it might help raise the rpm
@@RBTheMechanic I’ll work on pulling it apart and clean the TB. I do have a P0017 code
@@DiyDadFL ok u don’t have to pull it apart just remove the duct pipe I’ll send u link to another diff car how I did it
@@DiyDadFL here’s a link th-cam.com/video/ikXZPDLmcsI/w-d-xo.html
can you link the part please?
Don’t have link I purchased it from my local part store
Good video 👍
Good video!
Ive had this code for about a month and replaced the vvt, crank sensor, and cleaned the throttle body. Somebody give me some insight on what else to do, still can't get this light off.
valentino lopez check the timing to see if all the markings are correct these cars and trucks also have problem with worn out timing chain guide which cause the timing chain to be stretched out
Thx
I have a 2012 Colorado. A new engine was installed. Now the dam thing stalls at low speeds and stop lights. No codes no check engine light. It never stalled before. 8(. Mechanic does not know what it is.
New engine will not come with new throttle so it could be that ur throttle need cleaning Can u do me a favor check the rpm when u stop at redlight it should stay at 800 rpm if it goes below it will start to shake and eventully stall out so try to press the gas peddle soon as u see it that it’s going down if that keep the engine rubing then that usully ur issue anways update me. Try this
@@RBTheMechanicI will definitely try this! Thank you for replying!! The throttle body has been changed out, along with the camshaft actuator, and position sensor. The problem persisted. The mechanic has now sent the truck to the dealership for a diagnostic. I have not heard anything yet. When I get the truck back (Hopefully the problem will be solved.) I will try this for sure. Thanks so much again for replying!! 8)
@@snowbunny1001 ok update me!! Even with new throttle it might need relearn but trying this trick should at least tell u where the issue is
@@RBTheMechanicUpdate: according to the dealership the serial number on the engine did not match the VIN on the truck. That’s why it would stall randomly. So they have to replace the engine again. 🤦♀️. Does this make sense to you?
@@snowbunny1001 oh yeah it got to be correct engine
I changed out the part , and then the truck ran real rough, almost like it wanted to stall. Any suggestions as to what to change out next? I put the old part back in and the engine started to run as it did before replacing the part. Help!!!
Not Today that’s weird maybe this part is defective what is ur original problem
@@RBTheMechanic Hi.. Check engine light, doing, the code is the P0017, and I think there was a 340, or 341. I will recheck the codes, and get back to you tomorrow, Truck is out getting a new windshield today.
Not Today ok try replacing this part again because it’s not suppose to get worst change out the can sensor also and after that if it’s no resolved then you might have stretched out timing chain
did you use the Acdelco part cause if you use a aftermarket parts it might cause issue .. i went to auto zone and bought one and my car was worse but when i got the acdelco parts it work like a charm ..
Reset the pcm. Disconnect the battery get a small jumper wire to drain the voltage out of the capacitors.
I am still having the same problem with the truck about to stall what do you think it can be
Dose it stall at the stop sign or red light if it dose try cleaning throttle I’ll send u video on Chevy camery throttle service
Here’s a link to stall video on Camaro th-cam.com/video/ikXZPDLmcsI/w-d-xo.html. If this dosent work then it can be other possibilities
@@RBTheMechanic I have cleaned the throttle body and when I'm at a traffic light it feels like it wants to stall I put it in neutral hit the gas
@@johnfuchs2967 ok so somthing related to throttle body. Try these thing check for vaccume leaks... check to see if ur timing is on spot these chevys are known for stretched timing chain and worn out timing guides which will cause timing marking to go off so u need to do that before replacing or relearn The idle
Hi I noticed that my truck is giving this code but also alot of oil under the engine. Is there a possibility it could have something to do with this?
Erin Cieslik if the oil level is low it would also give this code because the VVT works with oil pressure
I have ha rough idle so ran some bg 44k then it ran like new for 2 weeks.
Then the other day it stalled on my way to work then again on my way back so I parked it and let it sit in the driveway for a day.
Got home notice oil under the engine alot .I see there is a sensor behind the oil filter I feel has the most oil on it .Any suggestions?
Guessing poor maintenance if it only has less then 25k?
I think bad design
Thank you for showing how to do this.

Amazing good job yoy
It shouldn't matter but my 2.9 2007 Colorado has a completely different air box design lol...I got six code's on my truck showing up an this was one im going to fix. Im trying to track down why my truck shuts the gas pump off every time i pump gas like its full when its not....
Well there blockages in the evap system which dosent let the air come out as the gas goes in so u need to figure that out check pipes or valves blocked up can be the canister it self but need good look in the the system very trickery repair
@@RBTheMechanic I have replaced both solenoids, wire harnesses, filler neck, blew air through all of the vent hoses Even change the fuel pump... I really don't know what it could possibly be but it is giving me both p0446 and p0449 code's...I'm just starting to get very frustrated with it lol.
@@RBTheMechanic ik your not supposed to but I checked the vapor canister by blowing very easy through it with my mouth and air flowed through it both ways so im guessing it's ok too?
@@kentucky4696 it can be fault when it’s hot lotta situation makes difference
@@RBTheMechanic I changed both solenoids again and the whole charcoal canister I'm not getting a code anymore but I still have the same issue... Does the fuel tank vent out of the top of the fuel pump or out of the rollover vent valve on top of the tank? One of those have to be clogged.
Some one cut the pig tail off the one im working on witch side is the tan wire on left or right
Danny Hodge not sure but I can find to see if my software shows wiring diagram and location of wires monday
@@RBTheMechanic its was the cat stopped up
Danny Hodge cat stopped up?
I have a 2008 GMC Canyon 2.9 and about 3 weeks ago started acting up, it only happens when
I'm braking or getting prepared to make a turn, it stalls or it feels like it wants to die. I'm thinking about replacing this vvt solenoid. I hope someone can help me on this
Yes try this and clean throttle just to keep it real with u try their stuff it’s cheap clean throttle first. But these gmc are known for having stretched tuning bad timing Cha in guide and tensnor but before anything try cleaning throttle cam sensor and vvt let me know if u need further help
@@RBTheMechanic Thanks for replying back bro, Imma go ahead and clean those first to see if it helps before replacing anything. The weird thing is that I have no code or check engine light on. My truck has already 255 thousand miles so Idk if that has something to do with it
@@yairtexan5733 no problem! Try clean throttle first go frilly it worked out let me know how things go
Got my 2005 Chevy Colorado 3.5 5 cylinder change the VVT solenoid change the cam sensor solenoid change the exhaust solenoid and I changed the crank solenoid and still popping up three p13 and p14 and now it's stalling and dying and intersection so I'm cleaning the throttle body today but I'm thinking it's my PCM and the p13 and the p14 were for the crank and the VVT sensor solenoids I change both of those and I'm still getting p13 and p14 don't know what the problem is any advice
Merci beaucoup !
you never let it run long enough to show it dosent stall hahaha
Well it never did still on the road did few oil changes running good
Usually they do only when cold, after 30 seconds to a minute they'll never do it again all day.
What brand
Sorry I’m not sure if I show it in video
What's the name of the part?
D Williams it’s. variable valve timing solenoid. Please subscribe
Variable valve time selenoid/actuator
D Williams wait sorry I was looking at the wrong video this is the variable valve timing solenoid.
Cool i figured it out on mine it only had 1.5 quarts of oil I changed oil cleaned map sensor and throttle body it works great. Now
D Williams so if these trucks are low on oil it cause the stalling issue
Another guy swore there were 2 camshaft sensors and there is only 1
Some do. For intake and exhaust
Mine just spins lol just fix it
Ok
Do I need to drain oil to change this part?I just changed it
Chris Ruzzo no you don’t have to make sure u live up the seals on the new selnoid
