    I spent all summer at the farm and left the home yard on auto-pilot. These hives have been neglected all season and I have no idea what I'll find in the hives. I hope they all survived. I have to do better at managing my home apiary.
    This Channel:
    Although this beekeeping channel is primarily about beekeeping I am also a quasi pepper who believes in becoming self-sufficient. With that in mind, I have started a garden, planted fruit trees, replaced the hedges in front of my house with blueberry bushes, and have recently built a chicken coop. In short, I will share a lot more than beekeeping on this channel.
    A little about me:
    I am a person who believes you are never to old to learn something. Be it beekeeping, farming, raising chickens, painting, filming and editing video, making wine, beer, bread, cheese, and other fermentation consumables, play guitar etc... If I see something I want to try I start it immediately. If there is one thing I could choose to pass along to my children this would be it. Never be afraid to try. My wife famously told me once that if you are not willing to be bad at something, you will never be good at it. I am bad at quite a few things.
    I hope you find my beekeeping videos fun and entertaining as well as get something out of them. I hope I inspire someone to get out and try something new.       Thank you so much for the support. There really isn't anything better than sharing ones passion with strangers while trying hard to entertain and engage curious people and get insulted by someone who contributes nothing. I look at my TH-cam adventure as a way to expand the hobby and achieve personal growth. That said, I have been around for a while and run across people all the time who instinctively tear others down as a way to feel better about themselves and their own failures. I will leave you with food for thought:

    It seems some of the handiest things that make our life easier are the ones we find by accident! Paint brush trick, pretty handy, cheap, readily available. Look forward to see if it keeps working if you try it in other videos.

I have seen a few HB but nothing like last year, but I also put down grub x in all my bee yards. so still have a few but the season is not over yet I am in virginia. hot and humid

      I was at the farm yard yesterday and caught 4 more hive beetles with the beetle sucker 5000 :-). The humidity in this area is starting to climb so I suspect I will be seeing more hive beetles.

    Hey bug farmer! I love your videos and watch them weekly. Before you had a link to someone selling queen size frames. May you send us the link to that again please? I cant find it.
    I am in my 5th year. Went from 5/7 making it over winter up here in Michigan. First year I tried to split hard and I am up to 25! In this local area there has been a little niche of introducing virgin VSH queens ala Corey Stevens method and I cant deny I've been enjoying it very much. I am at about 80% success rate to get them mated and I can control my genetics 50% of the way.

      Awesome. With 25 hives you are in for a great harvest. I was happy with my harvest this year but I am happier with the amount of drawn comb the girls produced for next season. As for the queen sized frames... are you referring to the bee barn frames by Banks? Those are specifically designed to fit in bee barns. If you need a link to those send me an email and I'll give it to you.

    On the queenless hive you saw queen cells that were chewed down. You may have queen on a mating flight that will return.

    Great video. Congrats on your spring harvest of 1300 lbs. Thats awesome. I harvested 160 lbs from 2 hives (5 supers). Do you get a second harvest?

      Unfortunately I only get one harvest. We have a small fall flow and I leave it for the girls.

    Will putting on that frozen box of frames cool down the nest and be bad for the eggs and larva?

      No. Wax doesn't hold it's temp for long because it's so thin. By the time the boxes got to the hives they were just cool and after 5 minutes on the box I am sure it had reached hive temp.

    Vevor hives... I have a few dozen and the boxes and frames are ok BUT the plastic foundations. My girls do not like them and they have a chemical smell. What's been your experience?

      I haven't had any issue at all. I have 4 different VEVOR 10 frame setups each with VEVOR supers and the bees are all over them. Maybe try rewaxing the frames with some beeswax and give them some 1/3 : 1 syrup. The light syrup will cause them to draw comb.

      They a had a couple frames from hive one so I think they will be okay.

      I have the Ultra Breeze and Guardian make a nice one. Personally, as long as it protects from the bees and keeps you cool it's a winner. The only thing I don't like about the ultra breeze is they only have a fencing veil. I would love it if they offered different types of veils.

      @@GLuft3 Yes. I am not a fan of the fencing veil. For beekeeping it is great, for making videos not so much. I also hate having to wear a ball cap under the veil to keep the front of the veil from touching my face.
