- Solo play comes as part of the Safer Seas feature. It’s intended to offer a “gentler” introduction to Sea of Thieves for new players, as well as a quieter map for existing players who want to play their own solo adventures.

I didn't want to get into it in the video but if you want my personal opinion here it is.
Personally i feel the thing that made SoT special was the fact you could go from completing world events to defending it from another crew. I have no use or interest in playing safer seas, but i understand ways that this would be a better option.. Sadly though its only a matter of time until people have nothing left to unlock and just want to sail alone
gets kind of old after defending your world event from the 4th sloop in a row. i couldnt play safer sea anyway cause all the stuff i have left is locked out. but there isn't anything inherently "special" or "magical" about fighting random people nonstop. it's just the game, it's fun - but can still get annoying too. regardless, it's just a part of the game - that's it.
meeting other people and PvP is an experience in itself which is why there should be other players in safer seas but no penalty for dying. you dont lose loot and they get one low quality item duplicated from your ship. you could take out ALL penalties for dying in ALL modes, people would still PvP out of boredom. the real problem is there is no advantage for solo to help them out or spice things up in the high seas. but i am Forever grateful they gave casuals a way to appreciate the game.
I get why people would hate this or like this but in the lifespan of a game if you were there in the beginning you would level up with everybody else but if you want to install the game or haven't played in a very long time or you're just new to the game after God knows how long people tend to get real toxic and they specifically go for the new people for they are just easy to kill I'm sadly one of those people only I have a few months gaming experience with this game I think it's safe for other people to play it because they can do things without the need to worry about others ruining it for them I still respect sea of Thieves but I just don't respect other people
I played as a Solo Slooper for the first three years of the games life. I got to a point where quests started taking really long periods of time and increased the risk of someone sneaking up on me. That’s why I quit playing. However the thrill of hiding and sneaking off to an outpost was what made it fun. After two years, I’ll probably hop back into Safer Seas just to do some things I never got around to then call it a career. Without SS I probably would’ve never played again

Please help I started playing me and my friend, we played for like 4-5 hours straight and the next day we lost all of our loot on the ship. Do we have to like save the game or something?

After not playing for about a year and a half now, Safer Seas is going to make me reinstall. I love the idea of doing Tall Tales without having too look over my shoulder the entire time and just chilling after work. I hope the end result will be the full breadth of the game being available to solo/private crew players (minus the reapers and such for obvious reasons). I bought the game, everything earned is cosmetic, no reason for people to be upset. People use the "No Pirating in my Pirate game" excuse alot but honestly there is no other game that has Sea of Thieves gameplay, theme and polish. I think a ton of the complaining is just sweaty crews not having near as many easy targets and instead will be in servers with other sweats.
This, I also remember seeing some guy on who is blind who played this game awhile ago and I always worried about other players ruining his simple fishing and other things he enjoyed. If they still play the game I hope this update makes it nice for then to chill
Finally something for solo player. I am terrible in pvp. If I could not run I disconnected. (not waiting for all the slurs). I will play game again.
A mode where solo sloops are played against other solo sloops...not everyone wants to play with or has friends.
I’m actually looking forward to it. I will still play high seas for pvp and higher money but I will be playing safer seas with my friends that aren’t good at pvp. I told them about this and they are happy to return to SOT
Safer seas is the future, hope they expand it out to include all content in the future. Running on a safer seas server with a guild, two or three ships all at once working together to do some cool adventures is exactly what my friend group always wanted from the game. We were devastated 7 years ago when we found out it was going to be an open PvP sweatfest and we avoided the game because of that. We have been playing together in small groups in Safer the last two weeks and having a blast, like I said the only thing that could make it better is opening it up so we could all play together on the same server.
Why is everything capped at 30% ? Why punish solo players for wanting to play solo ? Its just baffling to me.
Every time I go to outpost with some treasure I get destroyed and none of my mates play it and I can’t even play it bymyself
I have a few friends who, after getting - well - pirated as we'll say (sank, stolen from, and spawncamped by slur-throwing teens), proceeded to put the game down with no intents of picking it up again because they got dumpstered their first/second session. I'm hoping Safer Seas will be something I can use to help them learn the ropes a bit better without needing to worry about the Timmy Brigade stomping them into the briny deep just for existing.
Safer Seas should be only available whilst doing tall tales. There should be no renown or gold earned through the mode.
@@OhSoGamerthe gold is already reduced significantly you don’t gotta gatekeep it any harder. Everyone has the mindset that “oh well people should just deal with it” but no if someone doesn’t like a game they simply will not play it. All this mode is gonna do is let casual people get into the game, maybe send a few casuals who have been enduring getting attacked when they don’t care for fighting, and the rest of the players will still play high seas. With how expensive some cosmetics are maybe those who got into the game with safer seas will actually consider trying it for more reward. If safer seas give’s nothing then they will all just play some tall tales, have nothing left and quit days later.
As someone who doesn't care too much about ranks and pvp, I see this as an absolute win.
I think the "safer sea" should have been made a lot better. Instead of only onw ship, i think you should allow another crew (invite only) onto the server. The best way to learn pvp with friends, without much hassle.
No, it would be like à little alliance server then (beside this mode is meant to be like an exetended tutorial to learn how the activity of the game work or doing tall tale/commendation)
@matteodariba6064 Alliance stuff could be taken down as well. No alliance flag, means no shared rep or gold. Tho it might not work exactly bc only making 30% of regular loot, sn alliance would make a Meer 15%.
I will always play High Seas, but it means my kids can play pirates together with there friends without getting crap from people and get experience enough to hold there own in a battle when they are ready
Gold AND Reputation is reduced to 30%. No Emissarys. No Athena or Reaper.

safer seas is going to be an excellent idea. Sure there are going to be lots of people who never leave but eventually all of them will try it maybe a friend that introduced them to the game helped them go through their first voyage on it etc. From how I see it safer seas will get boring fast and most importantly will not overload players with new stuff to do. I see the entire goal of safer seas is to 1. get more people to buy the game 2. get people to stick around longer, the limitations on safer seas are intense and it'll get new players invested because no captains ships, no emissary's, and only the 3 main factions, as well as none of the high paying WE so people into it will get bored and swap over. It also allows people to experience talltales with relative ease and allows people that like story's more to experience them without interruption. So no matter how you look at it, it'll be good no matter what.
I just want to get on sea of thieves after work and actually be able to turn my work in after 4 hours lmao. Sucks to sink a ton of time into getting loot for other people
Safer Sea and if you want take the sandclock for fighting other ships. i think this is the direction this game is turning to and i think i would like it
Is there AI boats? Kranken? Megoladon? Cloud events?
They dont have to make it a soul-less PVE game mode. They can def increase the chance for skeleton ships to spawn. Or introduce new enemy ship (other pirates, AI Emissaries, etc) or introduce new monster to fight off.

As a relatively new gamer (18 mo.) it would seem that 'Safer Sea's is (on the surface) a good idea...certainly a great marketing idea. Rare is gonna CASH on this to be sure!
Pity some folks don't like PvP (and yes I get why) I tolerate it cuz its part of the game. It's more bothersome than anything else really. For me tho PvP has been the real trainer in this game.
The problem with using safer seas as kinda like a trainer (you know folks will) is that they still have yet to play this wonderful game as intended. For these folks I think the initial problem is that we humans (being terrible creatures of habit, and now not having to look over one's shoulder) they will not have developed the habit of always looking around every couple of min's or so. Leaving themselves extremely vulnerable in the first place. I'd be willing to bet that new players get discouraged by getting bounced frequently...this is because were not looking around enough.

As mentioned above I'm a new gamer (mid 60's) by about 18 mo. Never gamed or even touched a controller till Feb 22 retired Aug 22. Still a random player (Sadly)
In all this time I have only been caught unawares about 8 times (truly)...straight up cuz I wasn't looking. Since then I've made it a point to literally scour the horizon every couple of moments, not minutes (scenario permitting of course) I can truthfully attest that by doing this I have been able to see many incoming threats and get the hell outta dodge all this time! Not gonna lie I avoid PvP not cuz I'm scared...I truly suck at it lol. I have of late been taking more threats on though, and I am getting better! Point is discipline for the new players will be lacking because of bad habits, and folks that Rare hopes will transfer over will get massicreed...then were in a way back to square one again. That is my current worry. Thank you to everyone for your time. Hope all this made sense.

Giving a single player mode to new players that want to learn a bit about the game before trying to do any online play is actually kind of nice. I might actually try the game out if this is the case

Finally now I don't have to worry about some one stealing me ship again only for me to siren teleport it it mad get 1 shot killed now all I have to worry about is skeletons, ghost pireats and sharks

Im pretty Happy but also surprised that they added a Singleplayer mode because it is sea of *thieves* its a PvP game which isnt really a Problem i dont hate PvP games but i dont have any friends that play the game and im not really a pvp Gamer so every time i get attacked it just ends in that which is more frustrating than fun to me so Just having a Mode where you can chill makes me pretty happy
They need new style of ships, characters, and a new map. It’s time the seas change

I personally will never play it but it SEEMS that alot of people feel the same way. I have a feeling this wont be as bad as people think, i think the only thing it will change is that if you see a ship on the horizon, it is most likely someone who can fight (as all the noobs have gone to safer seas)

nothing is locked behind gamepass, if you own the game you can play new content

IMPO each update lately has focused on helping those who lag behind earn basic commendations. It feels like they are preparing to end the game totally and want people to finish up their goals.
I don’t see how helping the new player experience is a means to prepare the end. if anything it be quite the opposite as getting more people into the game means more potential revenue. Also MMO games do this all the time where they reduce some old grind and then vet players complain but what you accomplished years ago never changed just because more people can now get into it easier.
please lower the bass on your mic. makes some stuff hard to hear and doesnt sound good.

If they’re doing this it must mean (I’m just spitballing here) the playerbase is at such a low they’re grasping at straws to keep what remaining playbase they have busy playing until the sequel is nearly complete. I’d imagine they have a sequel that’s been brewing on a newer, less restrictive engine, for when the time comes this game is finally circling the proverbial drain and they will hopefully reveal a much needed/improved Sea of Thieves 2 or whatever title they decide to use. Hopefully some special accolades would carry over in the form of titles or legacy cosmetics. This is just me voicing nostalgic wishes as I miss the prime time of this game when the seas were filled and bustling with players and the Sea was still fresh if that makes sense. Been following you for a while, while I don’t play anymore i still enjoy keeping up through channels such as yours Synicall, cheers 🍻
A SoT2 with a stronger engine would go super hard.
Bigger map, more crews at once, more tools for PVP _AND_ PVE, more engaging PVE mechanics, more ship types, more ship customization opens (unlockable color palettes, anyone?), etc.

@@DuskEalainwith how Overwatch and now Counter Strike have done it, I hope it can just be an engine overhaul/porting onto a stronger engine than replacing it entirely. I think it’s a better solution for live services with long term progression than the new call of duty or sports game releases every year of the same thing repeated.

They need monitor the servers ive run into unkillable players who've destroyed me and brother and they didn't take our loot they camped our boat and killed us everytime we've respawned. We've even caught them on fire, shotguned them, snipe them, pistoled them and Cannoned them and they didn't die but they killed us instantly with one sword slash. These 2 guys had a galleon and was unbeatable and for some reason they were faster the our brig we couldn't out run them or dock somewhere and they teleport too they were behind us for a sec and a blink of an eye they were in front of us ramming into us. This server needs monitored no ones gonna play if cheaters are gonna grief us.
If gun and sword play was good I would not have a problem with facing other players but it's all luck and internet based
not saying the net code isn’t ass but to say it’s all luck based is a reach. dark souls pvp is the precipice of janky online combat and that still has skill involve
@@deadhelix dark souls isnt an FPS and has dodge mechanics to save your ass/grain of rice internet. SoT is not the same.
If they put some stuff to stop people from sitting at outpost or when they literally follow you none stop. Now yes part of sea was pvp bit some people made it there only Point to constantly troll people or sit on there ship and spawn kill amd not going for the sink or loot just to kill and make you rage.
1. if a ship is chasing you to an outpost you either sink it or beat them there and sell your stuff. Outposts are not magic safe zones, you gotta deal with the issue yourself. 2. your point on people keeping a boat alive just to spawn kill is very fair as it’s frustrating, but you can also just scuttle your ship as that’s the whole reason it’s even an option. It’s no different from if the enemy wasn’t spawn camping and just sunk it. The only reason I see why not to scuttle is if they enemy is so in your head you keep spawning back wanting revenge which just gives them what they want if you can’t recover (I.e. if your mast falls down and they are on your boat but scooping out water, just scuttle it’s already lost)
@deadhelix yea sure cause I want to lose my hours of Supplies because and gally decided to follow my solo sloop for two hours. The point is some people are just assholes and no you shouldn't be able to sit at a outpost and chill for hours. I have had fun times and good time with no one bothering me but with how much of a grind the tall tales can be solo or even ranking up solo it gets very frustrating when you make no progress for days because people want to troll.
If this is going to be a thing I think it should have some sort of system where you still have to play PVPVE, which I feel makes sea of THIEVES what it is
High seas is main mode, the entire point is for people who do not want that or people who want a break from that. I saw some people who saw the monkey island collab and wanted to play the game to just do those quests and having a way to play them and other tall tales without interruption is good. Dark Souls 3 transitioning to Elden Ring has already had this same debate when Elden Ring made it so you can only invade players who are using online features, vs dark souls where you can invade anyone who is embered (usually right after killing a boss). In those games there was still even the option to simply play offline mode but ut still was a big point of contention yet overall became agreed that it was good as many invasions that happened in dark souls would have the player who got invaded just run away (similar to how some people do in SoT) and that almost never is the case in Elden Ring because everyone who is invaded somewhat wants to fight.
how about no. people with your ideology are exactly why people left and exactly why this mode exists. its like saying gunbuilding is what makes Tarkov, Tarkov. thats just one part of the game and for some people its the worst.
Add friendly fire to the PVE mode so that you can actually train the new recruits. that I would support.
Although safer seas seems like a good idea for tall tales and just over all safeness from sweaty players that’ll sink you for no reason, I feel like that’s a big part of the game. If everyone is on safer seas, normal sea of thieves will become baron and you won’t have some of the fun interactions you had before. Honestly I think it’s mostly a bad idea but I’m sure I’ll use it anyways lol😂

it doesn’t seem like a 50% gold reduction will really mean anything if you can just fotd stack for hours with literally no risk. “high seas” will be completely dead. they’re gonna have to bring back arena lmao (please do)
There is no FotD or FoF in safer seas as mentioned by rare themselves

@@subjectnivleis7572 Idea: Champion Vessels (so 4 streak or higher) can choose to queue up for "fleet battles".
They would be on specialized servers and be like 4 Servant ships versus 4 Guardian ships all at once as two teams, last faction standing wins.

online super toxic in season 7 now S10 have solo and limited how boring.
I think safer seas should only just be for new players and they can get a tutorial and maybe get direction on how to do quests and world events etc but once that tutorial is finished or they reach level 40 in every faction they or forced to the real game
what happens then if a vet player wants to get a friend into the game? they can’t play with them? the mode doesn’t offer any benefits to vets or mid level players who need money and rep for the stuff they want. The pushback feels very similar to the soul’s community gatekeepers before Elden Ring blasted them on their ass. Anyone who thinks everyone will flock to this mode and play it forever is crazy. The people who don’t like PvP games will have a reason to try SoT and The people who want to fight are gonna be filling the high seas server slots.
What about youtubers and content nobody will ever get any content bc everyone on regular servers will just do hourglass or tdms so nobody can steal anything unless its in safe seas which takes the fun out of it bc you get no rep and barely any money
