I finally finished it. Was very interested and satisfied with it. Good story and a good/different point of view. Who knew my dude could write about perimenopause.
I had so much fun reading this, too! I loved the desert setting, and the interactions between Mary and male doctors were so relatable as a woman. I could also totally feel the King inspiration throughout the book, but I agree that Cassidy has his own voice that is very entertaining!
I read this back in February, having been pulled in by the cover. I honestly didn't expect much, because I had heard nothing about it, and I was just blown away. As a woman of a certain age, it was a nice change to read about an older female protagonist, even if she was in a horror novel going through hell. I was cheering for Mary all the way. And Nadine was such a memorable character, repulsive yet fascinating and hilarious at the same time. This book also had a lot to say about how society glorifies serial killers at the expense of their victims and it says it in a really powerful way. The King influence is there, and I do love Stephen King, but Nat Cassidy totally shows him up in this book with his ability to portray Mary in a way that is sympathetic and true. I will definitely reread this one, and I have already pre-ordered Nat Cassidy's next horror novel.
So i got the audiobook because of this and i'm into the first hour or so, man you're correct on what an interesting book. what a fascinating main character and the description of her mirror issues is really disturbed
Hi! Wow, that is a five-star plug! I will definitely be adding this to my pile. I'm currently half-way through Brother by Ania Ahlborn about a teenage man desperate to escape his deranged family in the isolated Appalachian mountains..which I'm really enjoying and highly recommend.
I haven't read it but I did read Nat Cassidy's "debut science fiction" novel Steal the Stars. It was a pleasant kind of heist piece leaning kind of YA. I just like the idea of him turning 87 and writing his "debut musicology novel".
I loved the character work in this book. They all felt so human, so wonderfully flawed and real. I have read the novel twice now and recommend it often.
Olly! This is so incredible--thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed (and were able to get ahold of) the book!
My pleasure! Loved it. 😊
This sounds like a fantastic read! Thank you for sharing, Olly!

Just ordered a copy😊

So glad this book is getting more attention! Love it!!!!!!
I recently ordered this from amazon and it was more expensive than my usual purchase but have heard such great reviews i had to buy it
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Hhmm, I'm kind of intrigued, especially with the slight comparison to Carrie without the powers and the King-isms and nods to other horror.
It’s a really fun ride. Definitely worth a read

I have been keeping my eye on this one for when I have gone though enough of my present unread books. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts!
This sounds great! I've put a hold on a library copy. Looking forward to it!
This has the feel of great old Gothic books by writers like Daphne du Maurier, based on your description.
I’ve just ordered this book because of your feed back. Looking forward to read it, as someone starting to feel menopause creeping up on her.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
I just put it on my library Hold list. I'm second in line for it so should have it before end of Sept. Thanks for highlighting it.

Just got this from the library, can’t wait to read it!
Might be adding this one to the TBR. 😊💙
Great video, is it possible to show us or mention the print size? oldies like me who read on a scribe are used to no eye strain. 🙏
I’m an oldie too! Print size is decent on this one
@@CriminOllyBlog thank you 😎

This sounds so good! I really want to pick it up. I am away on holiday though. It’s too bad it’s not on kindle.
Hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
Did anyone read Rebecca Netley's debut The Whistling? Looking to see if its worth buying
I haven't yet, but may be next month
I thought it was pretty forgettable.

Completely agree!
Hi Olly, sorry this is unrelated to the featured book in the video, but what is the progress on your quest to read all your Stephen King blind spots?
I got delayed by GarbAugust but will be reading Bag of Bones in September 😊
@@CriminOllyBlog Fantastic, look forward to it.

Thank you, Wendy!
