Kim Thayil really adds a whole other feel to this track! The melody in the chorus kinda reminds me of something off of Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie record, I also love to hear Troy's mom doing the French horn in background of the chorus

Holy fuck that was incredible. My first time listening. I haven’t heard any new mastodon in a few years after admittedly falling off after The Hunter. I was one of those Leviathan/Blood Mountain/Remission/CTS snobs who wanted them to stay forever punk-y aggressive. I admit I was wrong, I’ve since been catching up on what I missed. This double lp is fucking unbelievable. Best thing they’ve done in years, since at least Crack The Skye (which is my top 5th favorite album of all time) I didn’t think it was possible for bands to truly put out stuff as great as this 20 years after the “glory days” but mastodon have broken that mold.
I thought all their albums were their best when I first listened. Every album is different; Times change and sounds change also. I'm just glad we have them to listen to during these changes.

This is easily the most beautiful heavy metal song and quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my entire life. I've been legit crying for the past 30 minutes due to it hitting me so hard. I even called my dad because this song spoke to me as if it was saying to enjoy your loved ones because time is short and one day they will no longer be here anymore. What a song and what an album; easily Mastodon's best work and one of the best heavy metal albums I've heard in a long time.

The entire emperor of sand album helped me so much. And now this song and this album after them losing their producer. I feel these songs to my core. Love this band

There is plenty of evidence of an Alice In Chains influence in many of the songs on this album. This song carries a big "Jar of Flies" vibe to me.
That explains why I like it so much. Jerry Cantrell is one of the best rock/metal composers ever.
